12 teams is actually too many. It was thought to be necessary due to the Power 5 needing an automatic bid for each champion, with an additional automatic bid for the highest ranked Group of 5 winner. With the PAC 12 gone, you now only have 5 automatic bids. In any given year, there are not 7 other teams that are truly in the mix to win it all.

Here’s a theory: once FSU was snubbed, it wanted many of its players to opt out. Reason being, had everyone but Jordan Travis played and the game ended with Georgia winning in a landslide, the committee would have been proven to be correct in keeping the Noles out. In that situation, FSU can no longer claim they deserved to be in the playoffs. With 10+ players opting out/injured, they can still maintain that they deserved to be in the playoffs because this game didn’t prove anything. The result was only due to the high number of players out of this game. We all know the truth though. The result on the field would have been the same either way.

Even as a Bama grad, I agree with you about a lot of Tide fans.

Me too!

ACC: “Actually, you guys can just go ahead and leave.”

Still claiming the National Championship, FSU? Opt outs or not, this is an abysmal showing.

It’s amazing what happens when not every route is a 10 yard curl. -

The Panthers have talent that wasn’t being utilized properly while Reich was in CLT. I’d like to see the team address the OL and bring in a #1 WR in the off-season to see what BY9 can really do. -

This offensive play calling is offensive. -

I wasn’t watching the earlier part of the game, so I didn’t see that drive. -

Had the Panthers gone for a TD and scored, they would have been up 12-7, contingent on the outcome of the two-point conversion. If they miss the conversion, an Atlanta TD wins it outright. Up until Ridder’s INT, Atlanta moved the ball with ease the drive before the GWD. With 1st and Goal at the 1 yard line with 1:41 left, you have to keep the ball out of Atlanta’s hands at that point. You simply do not give the Falcons the ball with the chance to win/tie. -
I was not aware of the wind. I currently live in Korea and woke up (14 hours ahead of EST) to only catch the last 10 minutes of the game. Definitely saw the rain in the broadcast but didn’t see or hear anything about the wind.

As a Bama grad, I’m a Bryce fan, and I hope he figures this thing out. I was pleased with that last drive. However, I still want to see more out of his passes. The ~20 yarder to Tremble to get off the goal line took forever to get to him, and the pass to Minot was just a wounded duck with a nice adjustment (granted, the rain may have caused the ball to come out funny). I do hope Bryce and the team can build in this.

That is not what was going on at all. They did the right thing to drain the clock and attempt the field goal.

My take: 1. Michigan 2. Washington 3. FSU 4. Texas 5. Bama 6. Georgia 7. OSU 8. Oregon SEC misses out in the final year of the four team playoff. -

I’d love to see Bama reestablish the run game on this drive. It would be nice to grind 5-plus minutes off the clock and get some more points on the board. -

In that scenario, I think Bama and Georgia have to be out. While I’d hate it as a Bama grad, it would be the right thing to do. -

Milroe is off on many of his throws today. He’s grown a ton as a QB this season. I hope that growth comes through over this last quarter. -

I get what you’re saying, and I hope that is how it would happen. However, Texas looked absolutely dominant today. Despite their opponent being ranked at #18, I think that game immensely improved their chances of getting in. -

I think Bama would get left out if they win a close SECCG and FSU wins the ACC. Just don’t think the committee would deny a big name like Texas. -

I think Bama winning the SECCG would be the committee’s worst nightmare. Georgia has been so good for so long, how do you keep them out if they lose a close one? But how do you keep Texas out if Bama is in, given Texas’ big win in Tuscaloosa? The committee does not want to make that decision. -

That’s my hope. First, Bama needs to beat Georgia, which is a tall task. -

Even as a Bama alum, I believe if FSU and Bama both win, Bama gets left out. The last few weeks of Texas’ season left me some hope that Bama could get over the Longhorns based on recent play. Today’s game, however, removed that hope, as Texas destroyed Okie St.
