If I have to see Nick Scott’s slow ass on the field again getting burned deep for the 4th time that game I’m going to turn off the damn TV. Plain and simple Evero fuging sucks as a talent evaluator and all his hand picked players have been colossal busts, hello Dj Johnson, Nick Scott, Jordan Fuller, Josey Jewell.

Is Simmons a good LB, no. Is his better then Claudin Cherelus, no doubt. What are your guys thoughts of bringing in this Clemson legend?

Praying for you, hope you recover quick!

Cherelus down. We need to be talking about LBs even more
shaq replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
I actually see your perspective on this, he was playing the long game here rather than a single contract. Heck he was just second team all pro, he has two more years and then he will be in line to get a real big bag. Thanks brother, honestly have been frustrated thinking about losing Luvu for a while, but it does seem like to your point Luvu wanted a better situation for his skillset. -

That’s a fair point, but money talks if we threw him a higher contract I’m sure he would have stayed. He is only making around 12 mill yearly, to put in perspective if add up the contracts of Ashawn Robinson and Shy Tuttle that’s about 15 mill yearly. I’d much rather pay Luvu 15 mill then pay a jag DT and a total bum in Tuttle. -

The one undeniable mistake Dan Morgan has made was letting Frankie Luvu walk last offseason. We had developed him into one of the best LBS in the league and let him walk in his prime for nothing in return, dude was just an All Pro last season. -
Would love to play again

Only 26 years old, fills the biggest hole on our roster. Top 3 at his respective position, yeah fug it how often does a future HOF player become available in their prime?

The main focus has and rightfully so been to create an environment built around developing Bryce. Adding another young QB to develop would take away reps and attention from our coaching staff away from Bryce. Dalton serves as the perfect backup due to the fact he is highly experienced, is a good mentor to have in the room and is not threatening Bryce for his job. With how much we invested in Bryce it only makes sense to create the best environment possible to help our return on investment. I’m assuming after this year we will move on from Dalton, until then we have one of the best backup QBS in the league.

Good points, I should have defined breakout better. I don’t mean necessarily become a star. For Trevin Wallace him breaking out would look like him being an average starting LB. And for Cade Mayes, it would look like him keeping the starting role and keeping up his production.
-
Who are your top three breakout candidates for next season? My three: Jatavion Sanders- Simply put he is the best receiving TE we have had since Olsen. We all saw his potential over that three game stretch prior to his neck injury where he showed a real connection with Bryce. Good route runner with glue for hands, limited blocking upside but he gives solid effort. With Tremble already being hurt I don’t see a reason why he already isn’t our starter and clear future at TE. Trevin Wallace- For a developmental LB forced into a starting role last year he exceeded expectations. LB is one of the hardest positions to adjust to from college, and for a prospect who was widely regarded as very raw, surprisingly he was solid in coverage and only had an 11.9% missed tackle rate. He was overly aggressive consistently, and needs to work on his play recognition. But he is set up to be our best LB next season, and likely starter for years ahead. Even barring reaching his upside, his floor was clearly a lot higher than draft pundits assumed(Morgan can scout LBS). Cade Mayes- I am hopeful Cade wins the starting job at C this season. He may have been our most improved player last season, he looked like an above average starting C after he took over for an injured Corbett. He allowed 0 sacks on 327 pass block snaps. Corbett can not stay healthy, and at this stage in his career Mayes is objectively the better player. Mayes is only 26 and gives us the potential of stability at C, something we have never had since Ryan Kalil retired. Corbett slots in as a great backup C/Guard, and Cade continues to develop and gain more chemistry with Bryce and our stud duo of Hunt/Lewis.

Just realized we will get to see Shaq on hard knocks now. Great dude excited to see him return especially to a Super Bowl contender.

Panthers Legend

Morgan and company will definitely be in on this, not sure if we actually sign him but we will likely see reports come out with us showing interest.
-
Our DB room this year is essentially our Dline room from last year. We have zero depth and a bunch of jags. If Horn goes down in the same fashion Brown did last year. Then it’s gonna be another tough defensive season. On the bright side on paper we actually have a really strong offense. I’m expecting some shootouts this year, this isn’t your typical stout defensive and ground and pound offensive Panthers team we’re all accustomed to.

I will never be against spending on the offensive or defensive line, that is where the game is won.

RUMOR: Panthers possibly making an addition in the secondary
shaq replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think you might need to check his contract again. We would have his contract rights for the next three seasons with him playing at ages (31-33). Also just to be clear this would be his 4th team not his 5th, (Jaguars-Rams-Dolphins). Ima be honest man I think you gotta research this information a bit more. “Why would he want to come here initially” I mean from a literal sense it’s not his choice, whoever the Dolphins deal him to is up to the best offer available. Secondly, I think having coaching familiarity with Evero would be something that works on both sides. -

First off you don’t “redo deals” if you extend someone you can spread out their cap hit, which is something Morgan and company has don’t repeatedly; along with every other 31 front offices. Also I’m getting very confused why you continually refer to him as a 32 year old corner and reference him as a one year rental. By your logic he would play next season at 31, then atleast one more season at 32. So by your own logic he is at minimum a two year starting corner. Listen if reports came out the Dolphins were trying to get first or second round pick I would be completely against it. But by all accounts the Dolphins are in a vulnerable cap situation and need to offload some players to stay under the cap and it’s rumored the asking price for Jalen is only around a 3rd. Research suggests the average third round pick career length is 3 years, and even basing it off your own logic we could have a top 15 corner for a minimum of two seasons. You do that deal all damn day man, every move every aspect of roster construction is a risk but this is a pretty reasonable risk to take man. -

Respectfully man I think you’re making a lot of assumptions, granted this whole situation is a total hypothetical. I get where you’re coming from, paying an older corner is not always ideal. But my simplest rebuttal would be any sort of extension would likely buffer that $25 million. And at the same time if he was extended it would likely mean he’s still playing at an elite level, which he is currently playing at. Along with the fact even worst case scenario he walks, we would likely recoup a similarly equivalent comp pick in the next years draft. Trading for Jalen would be an educated risk, personally I lean towards I think it would make sense. Due to the fact that we still have Bryce on his rookie deal and it gives us the flexibility to be a bit more aggressive with roster construction. And I view CB as probably our second biggest weakness outside of Safety currently. -

Ramsey will play in the league another 3 years minimum, personally I think he has potentially 5 or more left in him. His game was never very reliant on speed, he is a physical run defender who can always transition to safety. -
Totally agree with you, if we had invested in drafting a corner or two I wouldn’t even ponder adding Ramsey. But, to be honest we legit added nobody to our corner room this offseason we have nobody worth developing. Even if Chau Smith Wade is better then what I think, he is the only guy we have invested draft capital into outside of our starters.

Look at his snap counts, your telling me that his entire college and pro football career every coach he has had has misused him? No offense but I don’t think you understand the role of a slot corner. Mike Jackson is the literal definition of an outside zone corner, he would be totally inept as a slot corner. Ala why he has been an outside corner his entire career.
