Fowler, Graziano: Panthers want to re-sign Frankie Luvu
WarPanthers89 replied to BlueBuck24's topic in Carolina Panthers
People say this all the time but either way, he’s not getting that type of deal. The cap is an illusion and he’s not a player you would ever have to worry about not playing hard enough to earn the money. He was underpaid every year he has been with us. This is a dictionary picture perfect example player that you pay. He’s the best team leader we have other than Brown -
Fowler, Graziano: Panthers want to re-sign Frankie Luvu

lol CMC/DJ is a great example of why you don’t let good players go for picks. He was one of the very few people on the team who brought the energy, played his ass off, and never quit even though we were the worst team in the league. He’s the perfect example of the type of player that you do not let leave. -
This is what a real super processor looks like...

Not a single person thinks Bryce was the better pick at this point. People may have thought he was walking into a worse situation, but looking at the season, he had better everything for the 2023-2024 season. No questions CJ performed on an other level than Bryce, but you cannot question that he had better coaching, better offensive game planning, better adjustments, better O line performance, better WR’s, better TE, and a better running game. I get your point on CJ, but everyone on this board has beat this narrative into the ground and we all agree about CJ vs Young at this point, but you cannot be serious in saying Young was in a bette position after watching last season…..we were literally the worst team in the league for a QB to be in. -

Who on this board do you feel that you are proving a point to? I think everyone here overwhelmingly agrees that we wish we had Stroud at this point, based on year 1. The only thing I’ll ask of you, is to explain to me how the 2023-2024 Texans offense and coaching staff was a “way worse” situation than what Bryce Young had to deal with…. You are beyond wrong on this statement. Young had a worse situation on every single level and there is no question about that. -
Is this the worst GM/Coach combo in Panthers history?
WarPanthers89 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
No question -
You make good points but we easily could have earned that number 2 pick as well if it wasn’t for a few surprise wins that Wilks pulled out. Combine that with trading away our only weapon at WR, having one of the worst offensive schemes in the league which caused our first year head coach to be fired mid season, a blocking scheme which caused Young to be tied for most sacks in team history, and our prized FA big sign “starting RB” being demoted for the season, you can easily see how Houston ended up being a much better situation to be in for a rookie QB. Young didn’t play well, but you cannot deny that the situation we put him in was a compete and utter disaster in every phase around him. I cannot think of a single positive situation around Young on our offense around him last year……not one.

Is this true? Can anyone confirm?

Imagine posting a thread from a YouTube comment section….Lol Hey everyone!!! Could it be possible that the username UrinatingTree has inside information that could be confirmed?? -
Our hire looks better and better by the day. I know we are all on a wait and see approach, as it has to translate on the field, but I honestly cannot think of a better person that was available to hire in order to help to salvage Young.
-
I believe the Huddle hated on the hiring of Morgan and our new coach because it wasn’t a big name that they dreamed of, but I have a feeling that if they are left alone, they can build something special and make us a competitive team again. As a matter of fact, I don’t know of a single coach (that was actually available) that would be a better pick to develop Young. Morgan and Canalas are young and hungry and you can tell they will bring the energy that our team has been lacking for years. I know we are all numb to anyone involved with overseeing our team until we see wins, but if you are being logical, this seems like a great pairing we have made, along wit Brandt Tillis
-
Love the hire and I hope it translates into the football field. I will say that I get a much better feeling about him than Rhule or Frank. He seems young, hungry, and someone who will bring the energy to the team. It’s a huge bonus that we keep our defensive staff together as well.
-
Canalas at 2. He was the best option to get the best out of Young. Bonus because we kept our defensive staff in place.
-
Minimum three. To me this is Teppers mindset: Three years gets Rhule and Frank off the payroll, as well as the end of Young’s rookie wage scale (not counting the 5th year option.) This will show enough patience to give them more than enough time to build a contending team, and we will know of Young is a proven starter in the league and can move on (of course us fans will make this call by the end of this upcoming season, but I bet in Teppers eyes it’s the end of year 4 based on what we gave up). By the end of year 3 it’s either extension time or cleaning house time for Young and the coach/GM

Really starting to love this hire.

You make a great point, I just get pissed about his end of season comments that he made public about not wanting to be part of a rebuild. That alone makes me want to cut him, although logically it makes much more sense to sign the best available WR in free agency to be our number 1, draft a WR with out 2nd round pick (basically a 1st), keep Mingo and Adam
-
Let them both go. Adam T as well, he already mentioned not wanting to be part of a rebuild ( it sure why he ever signed with us in the first place if that was his mindset) but we don’t need that attitude on the team.

Some people are good coordinators but it takes something different to run an organization. Some don’t have the personality (see Mcdaniel’s) and some need to adjust to being that type of leader which may be Johnson’s case. Asking for money that scare off teams is a weird thing though, and making the commanders turn the plane around is not a good look either….
-
Absolutely not. CMC is a perfect example of why you don’t trade him away. We already have an insane amount of impact players. You have two more years of cheaper money to pay him, so you let him play it out and see if he can change his bad luck with injuries. Thomas Davis is a good example of working with someone. He may not stay healthy, and you make that decision after year 5 but no way we should trade him for peanuts and make an already weak team worse. He impacts the game when he’s playing.

Tony Pauline: Campen was Tepper's "eyes and ears"
WarPanthers89 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tepper is such a joke. Why the F*ck would he be that involved. He should not be anywhere near a locker room or any assistant coaches ever again. He should have meetings with his GM and F*ck off with the men who actually know football and have been involved with the players. /Rant- 111 replies

Article: Tampa Bay Buccaneers center Ryan Jensen never got the chance to take the field with Dave Canales as his offensive coordinator. Nonetheless, the former Pro Bowler realizes what a divisional rival is getting in the 42-year-old play-caller. As first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Carolina Panthers are expected to hire Canales as their next head coach. And Jensen, who appeared on Thursday’s episodeof the Short and to the Point podcast, was asked which of Canales’ characteristics will help him thrive in his new position. “I mean, his leadership,” he told host Jessica Kleinschmidt. “The first time I met Dave, I was a little unsure of him. First time bein’ an offensive coordinator. He was just such a like happy-go-lucky guy. And I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s see how this is gonna work out.’ But, when it comes down to the root thing, he’s such a man of relation. He wants to have relationships with all of his players and lead them through the tough times. “I mean, you just look at us, like Week 11, we’re 4-7, and that could’ve been a very big transition, and the whole thing could’ve just imploded. But throughout that entire struggle, where we lost five of six, Dave was the same person every day. Came to work, got the guys ready to play, stayed the course. And I think that’s something you look for in a head coach. And I think he’s gonna be very successful at it.” The 32-year-old was sidelined for the entirety of the 2023 campaign due to a knee injury. He would, however, have a front-row seat to Canales’ first year as a play-caller—where the Buccaneers captured their third straight NFC South title. Jensen was joined by former teammate Garrett Gilkey, who also just so happens to be Canales’ landlord in Tampa. He too had some praise for his renter. “I personally believe that he’s gonna be a wave of radical change in the NFL,” Gilkey said. “Him and his wife, Lizzy are amazing people. Their whole posture towards community and relationships and vocation is something we haven’t seen since, like Tony Dungy. “And so, I’m really, really, really excited to see the way in which his leadership not only proves to continue to be successful in the different teams that he’s with, but honestly how it’s catalyst of change in our industry that needs it.” www.pantherswire.usatoday

In Teppers mind, I bet He’s thinking that our new coach is getting an absolute minimum of three years to prove himself. This way Rhule and Frank are off the books, and he can move on if needed, and he shows the league that he can be patient. This also gives us time to move on from Young if he does not work out. If it works out then things are fantastic, if not, clean sweep with coach, gm, and QB

Very good point
