  1. How many damn targets is Smith gonna get today vs dj. Like WTF
  2. Tollolololol. If you are watching this game, you are definitely not watching good football.
  3. Hekker is keeping us in good field position and pinning folks back. MVP of the team so far....
  4. Hey winless lions. We are coming for that record! We are your 0-16 and want to raise you a game! Browns are not terrible, but this is home opener and they are down we, ol, and a resale QB. Still giving us the business. And the offense for the 1sr 25 min of the game lolz. It's worse than Jimmy C. We could a kept huddle legend Kyle Allen and it be better than that poo.
  5. This topic got off the rails quickly and is headed a completely different direction. Anywho, it's a reach to compare Burrow and Baker. That said, if we have the healthy WR and RB group, a little luck with the line staying healthy where the rookie LT takes to it quickly, it shouldn't be a shitshow offense we saw last year or for large stretches of 2020. Thats worth a few wins as we let waay too many go last year with abominations on O. The defense isn't poo either, thin as can be though up front. Part of the luck is having the right depth for the inevitable injuries. If things broke right, barstool isn't the only ones to think we have a punchers chance. Heard a few on the radio say we are a dark horse mostly cause of the defense, CMC, with the assumption that Baker is at least a top 20 QB. With the issues in ATL, no Peyton in NO, and the greybeards in Tampa getting hurt already, it could quickly turn into the another case where a sub 500 club could make it into the playoffs. The bucs are on Brady or bust for year 3. Father time will get to him someday, and if that's this year, the division is wide open. Now it's a long shot, but so we're the bungles last year. Imo, it's all on Baker to make this work.
  6. I mean no doubt, but they made the playoffs with tyrod Taylor, a bottom 5 starter. Shows that a good/great coach can still build a competitive roster and make the playoffs. Yeah his year 2/3 was rough but arguably the QB play was even worse. He was 100% the guy behind the curtain making us a legit D. Look at ron after MCD left. It was downhill fast. He has always had a stellar D. Now I can't fault him for the KC game, that chief team was just better (as was the silly rams collection of talent). Love to have kept him and Beane
  7. So the #1 question to IR, doesn't this limit him to not be an active participant in practice? Doesn't he need reps more than film? Honestly with the 3 vets and their "rhule established" roles for now, this is a game to let the team figure the other 3 guys out the 1st few weeks. If the IR designation is not already for the year maybe bring him in late for reps in practice as #2 and emergency qb on game days. That said imo, they needed to pick 2 from pj, sam, baker, and be done with it. Then let the kid get more reps in practice to get up to actual game speed. Pure film study isn't going to get him going. Oh and kiffen needs back in the NFL. He makes great offenses with marginal talent. Also he is also a part to play on this debacle, he got the most out of corral with scripts and being able to really screw with folks with matchups and easier throws. Also had him run a bit more than he should as a pro, and that was a significant part of the O. Now kiffen, more than the shark, has chops for the pros imo and a comeback would be fine with me if it was here. But that's another topic. Back to Mc. Thinking Corral was a day one starter in the NFL should have been fireable offense for all involved. If you wanted that Howell was closer. Baker and Jimmy G have been in play since Watson went to Cleveland, Lance was drafted and most importantly Sam imploded so much after game 3 last year. They didn't do the silliness of last year and go ham early like they did with Sam. Instead if overpaying the browns or 49ers, that waited for the price to come down and let the browns go silly and backed into a trade. Fans have been hyping Corral waaaay to much with savior when he was destined to be clipboard guy at best this year. If he started it was going to be cause of injuries or we have a new interim HC who gets a mandate to see what he has late in the season. He want in the russ mold: highly productive in multiple offenses but "too short" to play. Plus he went to a team with a real HC, a good running game, well over 100 per game and only 3 under 115. 8* games under 200 yards passing though (1 not counted cause silly blowout).
  8. So this is why we showcases sam the man lol. Move him for anything to the browns and we eat 100% the salary. Get anything back pick wise is making the most of our situation and brownies.
  9. Just like Norwell. Cade is such a solid/good guy inside. How those types get passed over so much is wild.
  10. Neal vs Icky will be a hot one for a while....
  11. Shocked y'all didn't think this highly of smith. It's a light switch for him. He's got otherworldly talent and in this game with no real tape, planning on O, he's gonna be looking like a stud. Measurables were thru the roof. He would do this at psu what killed scouts was mostly consistency. Never really took over at psu as expected for the #1 ILB recruit from HS.
  12. Guess the predraft and pre 2021 season hype on barno being a better pro than NCAA guy might be true. Still, it's 2nd string and early. At vt he looked good early and went silent too often as the season wore on. But so far way out playing the draft slot for that half. Looks better than I expected. Still don't expect a lock this year, but more years 2 and 3.
  13. Low low bar going 2-3 to win a game. Need more than another Mac Jones......
  14. Within your own excerpt they mention the shift to odd man fronts to help use the both Lb as edge control vs bringing the safety down. Much of the odd man front issue is always finding the beef to replace the even front in the run game. If you can find it, it's still preference, if you can't see Ron's last year here. No beef, expect to get pounded and your edge rushers to get doubled up and out of the picture. It does mean a guy like Kam Chancellor is obsolete or is a full time OLB. Hell he was boarder line even there as he was the guy to target in that secondary. if you let him roam or play in the box, he was a wrecking ball. Ask him to actually cover a guy, no chance for him, injuries or not. This is not new, see Landon Collins. I do think the ideas from the athletic metrics still make sense, but maybe the beef side of the secondary isnt as big a part as it was on that Seattle team. Favor the length but not the stopping power most of the legion of boom had. Switch out Chancellor for another FS with a rangy coverage safety vs a run stop safety, and that group still may play just fine. Especially if you put that odd front out there as say the Wilfork lead pats fronts. In some ways that's what KC ran with honey badger last few years. Landon Collins moves to an OLB role for Ron in Washington. As a coverage guy, he couldn't cut it. Ask him to be a permanent fixture in the box, he works. Seattle did start the trend and I don't think that's going anywhere soon. With the receivers becoming ever bigger, the 5'9" CB is going to struggle when they keep meeting these 6'4" WR that can run with them. Safeties now have to also deal with a lot more TE that are actually receiving threats and not just little linemen. So the priorities may no longer feature the stopping power of the legion, but prioritizing speed, length, and explosive testing (vert and broad jumps and 10 yard splits) will be the athletic tent poles when measuring guys just like Seattle did early. Don't think you care like Seattle did on finding hitters. Hell the game doesn't really allow it the same to make the boom worth the penalty risk.
  15. So, a lot of vt fans think if you ask him to be a 3-4 OLB/Joker, he's gonna be special. If you ask pure hand in the dirt, no, seen that, gets washed out of plays waaaay too easily. Haynes (resigned) is the guy he is like/has to beat out as the designated pass rusher and ST guy. I do think he was in the wrong system at VT, and that OL could push him out of the way too easily as VT had zippo size inside to take a lick of focus off Barno. IIRC he set a ton of hokie strength and conditioning records at VT, and might not have that huge bulk people think he can add. Don't assume he can just add mass/bulk/muscle waist down and get to 270lb. Reports from a few scouts are he is just gonna be a bit undersized and doesn't have the frame to add to. Idk if that's 100% accurate but I'm not sold he's going to just put on 30lb and transform as a player at this point. His ways to make the squad are designated rusher (and actually finish when he gets position) and coverage teams for ST. Maybe as a speed rush to attack punter/kicker cause of the length/speed combo. For the round, it's a lotto ticket. Big boom if everything hits, ST, practice squad specialist if he doesn't.
  16. So want dohnovan west to slide thru as a udfa....
  17. Another Rhule connection late was bravvion Roy. And as late as he was picked, hey he was solid depth and was ok that late. If Barnes is 6th on the cb depth chart it's ok for this new guy. If he's the starting pr/kr that's not sucky again not bad.
  18. Honestly, total flier anyways. And has speed. I like we values that. Not too mad that it's Baylor
  19. I think if you ask him to play out of the dirt he might be ok. Pure lotto ticket. If he gets the jump, he's a burner to get home. Too often last 2 years, that didn't happen. VT fan frustrated with his lack of production and total pressures.
  20. Welp, hope they can get the good version every game and not the ghost he was for a bunch. RAS I bet is pretty high.
  21. Tests like Tarzan plays like Jane. As a VT fan he disappeared away to often
