Resident VT fan checking in. Farley shouldn't drop to the second but if he got past NO at 28, id start ringing some phones based on massive upside. Doubt I would actually get a deal done as 39 to 29 isn't worth it (unless you have him a top 15 player, and I don't). I'd love for him to make it to 39, but don't see it. He would be one hell of a steal there. I don't think he's in the same class as many of the former VT CBs that were very good, but he has a lot of size on all of them, had games and stretches of dominance. But, he sometimes was inexplicably out of position for big plays, and lots of health issues. And VT doesn't have a good medical recovery record, lots of broken down guys once they get to the NFL. He fits fitterer build/type from what Seattle targeted. That said the "cheaper" version of Farley is Israel Makuamu. He's a guy I bet we target.

My feeling too. Oddity is fox doesn't exactly fit in that idea as he's a bit undersized for the 5 tech odd as a big edge. Perryman fits well inside with Shaq. They have a gaggle of OLB edge types now too. But they don't have the line for it. If this is the way they really wanted to go this way, kerr would have been fine at a 5 tech. Also they would need to really focus on 5 tech and a NT imo. If brown switches to NT, that looks like a waste of his talent vs going after one of the 3 or 4 NT in this draft.

And 34 and 3/4 arms. Likely a guy that will not be a sleeper and a guy people go look up after he is taken way earlier than draftniks' boards predict. He was on watch list in 2019 preseasons too so he's been known for a while.

My ideal is trading back with baltimore. Our #8 and 3rd rounder for their 28th and Orlando Brown. Value of Brown around 20th to 17th overall. Only if Fields, Sewell, and Pitts are not there. They can go get Slater or Darrisaw to replace Brown on the cheap and get an extra pick. Would extend Brown and Moton. Build the bookends 1st.

I'm a Darrisaw stan, and I'm not 100% ready to hand him LT day one here. He might be the guy, but feel a lot better putting Moton at LT to start camp and see if Darrisaw unseats him. VT didn't run a pro offense and I have issues gauging his readiness as a pass blocker and hold up on the blind side. Now as a run blocker, he's ready, just a little more urgency to flowing thru to the 2nd and 3rd level from what I've seen would do him good. Though that could also be scheme/coaching that has him ensure his lane is cleared before he goes to the next level. Another option would be chase Orlando Brown. That make for a nice pair with Moton. Now 8 straight up for Brown is a non starter but we have the highest overall to give in a pick package if the ravens send picks with brown. They can go get the cheaper RT replacement of slater for Brown if they wish.

Israel Mukuamu S South Carolina 1st, no FB on the field: if you go big, Donald comes in with Pitts. No where near realistic, but hey if they have a crap board sort and let me get load up at the end of the draft (last 4 picks all will be gone well before I got them), I'm gonna do it. Honestly, if we can nab Pitts and a Robby replacement, it sets up Sam/ or the next qb well (Moore, CMC, Pitts, and 1 more good wr is a QB dream). Pitts, Donald and CMC for short yardage plays? Pick your mismatch: play for a pass and let CMC eat you up or play run and let the TE boys eat you up. Honestly Marshall is a draft crush of mine and was by far the best value on the board regardless of fit IMO. I think OT or falling DB could be the target if Pitts is the pick at 8. It fell in this mock that no great OT left, a good G (but I knew that I could grab good G or 2 later) and I went WR over CB which I get is debatable. It's a lot for the 4th option in 2021, but as a redzone threat in 2022 (to pair with Pitts and A Donald inside the 5) and 3rd guy in 2022 (hell of #3 after Moore and Pitts), I went this route. I like Carman overall think he is solid as a RT prospect and wouldn't be shocked to see him long gone in rnd 2. Now Christensen could be gone in 2 or there in the 3rd (deep OT pool this year), but a no brainer in rnd 4. I could see him at RT or LG here in this mock with Carman on board. Would have to figure out Carman/Christensen out a little. Overall like these 2 guys and give depth in 2021 and they have a clear path to play in 2022. One moment for a prospect that is undervalued: Mukuamu. College CB by need, NFL safety is his home IMO. Was good for 2 years, and didn't make the jump like Horn this year and played in his shadow. Banged up in 2020 and a true junior i believe. Still a really good mix of tape and measurible. Tall long and good athlete with a knack for the ball. He isn't a burner like Horn but more than enough for his size and as a zone CB or FS. I see Javon Holland well within most folks top 100, and imo Mukuamu should be right there after him due to his blend of hand, size, and speed. More top 100-150 not 200+ as some places have him. Both guys fit a hybrid CB/FS roll. He's not one you ask to go shadow moore or hill ( that's what Holland brings) but he would go up against the big bodied slot and outside guys or TE (not what I would want Holland doing).

Wait a sec. Tepper is happy on the process here? Sorry but they had till may 5th to exercise the option on Darnold. Enough to see how the draft goes to see if your really need to commit 18 million more to Darnold or if a better option opens up at 8 (fields). Taking it early locks them in to the 18million, even if they move some into 2021. Little worried if that's a sound business decision and he approves of the process of exercising the option pre draft.

So coaches hitched wagon to teddy last year (woops) and have got hitched to donald not just this year but next (atleast on $). The interesting thing on the extension: they had till after this year's draft to decide on that. If "their guy" at qb was there at 8, they would not have had to pick up year 5 at 18+ million and roll into 2022 with the anointed one. Darnold will get his millions now, he is set (year 5 = payday) outside of football now. The top2 coaches in on this need this to work out. They already fired 1 blank, 2nd would be an issue moving forward. Does he want a fat 2nd contract, sure but dude is set. I still think the 2nd is a bit more than Darnold is worth. Rosen went for a 2nd but had a lot of cheap control left. And people knew he was out of the starting gig because of Murray. It wasn't like Sam was holding off the #2 pick in Wilson. They also had a backup with 1 cheap year left, not 3. Fitterer paid a lot for 1 cheap year of Darnold, and already paid good money for 1 more year before the draft where you could get your guy (fields or lance). I don't think Darnold will be terrible but the process here is questionable. That's mybissue. Think they overpaid what the market was/would become. Think they hedged the bets on the 5th year option without knowing how the draft unfolded. Could both work out for the team still, yeah sure, but not the greatest process here.

Per the athletic, it's a 18.9 million option for 2022.

Before the sf trade, maybe 20% chance. After the lance, wilson, and fields pro days, 40%. With Pitts showing out at his pro day, it's 50% now. Crazy to think we could end up with a true top LT. imo he is better than the top OT the last 2 drafts at OT. If he is there, I'm pretty sure I don't wait a minute to listen to calls. Go up and announce it. The 2 guys I would take ahead of him for sure wont be there. Honestly think he is #3 overall guy in a 4 stud draft ( TL, ZW, Pitts, and Sewell). So to get that at 8, sign me up.

LOVE THIS DRAFT Thomas is a sneaky pick there. Lots of upside. Jackson I think goes way before the mock guys peg him. Lots of experience and measured in great. Remember this guy held off wirfs at LT. He's a favorite of mine this cycle.

Pains me to say that's likely true. Pitts is damn close to that megatron freak but at TE. He also has production to match eye popping athletic ability. And yeah Pitts is another few levels above Arnold. I mean I like what Arnold is going to bring as a pass catcher, but even in that regards, Pitts is the better receiver. He's grown on me as our pick if Sewell and the top 4 QBs are gone. I'm hoping atl and miami pass on him. . Brady would definitely use him. We saw the TE still used in NO with Brady. In 2018, the #3 guy in receptions was 38 year old TE Ben Watson. In 17, they had Hill and no one at the position to use. When NO has one they use one, see Cook in 2019 and even 2020. Brady is from the school of Payton so it's not like they never use a TE. Peyton has never had a top TE since Jimmy Graham. And oh he was dominant in 2011-2014. Let's be honest, Brady had 3 top WR at LSU: Chase, Jefferson, and Marshal. Maybe all 1st rounders. Hell the RB was also a 1st rounder so yeah the weekend link at TE didn't get the ball as much. Everyone goes with Moss getting 47 receptions and 570 yards not using the TE. BTW, those are LSU records, and Moss's only season of merit. Give him a top 5 TE, and he's not going to just put him in for only blocking. Think the Arnold signing points to a willingness to go get good receivers at TE.

Not wrong. Healthy jimmy g looked good for 1 full season and in parts of 2 prior. Last year yuck but that was all san fran. If he plays, he's good enough to command the weapons we have well (now the line would need to keep him up and that's a stretch right now). If the line let's him down and gets him hit, likely breaks and road to top 5 pick again. Only way I take jimmy is on a pure swap with teddy and 4th or lower going to san fran. Both teams can cut bait next year, and san fran gets some play money now.
