Possible the Browns are looking to trade Shadeur?

I know from our discussion during the draft you are not a fan, but I’m standing on this hill, LG. -
Wednesday practice tweets (joint practice with the Browns!)

Gahdamn! -
I read this rumor the other day, and it makes sense…. It said the Browns are planning on trading Shadeur before final cuts. Shortly after I saw this rumor, their dirtbag owner then came out and said he had nothing to do with picking him, sort of distancing himself from the whole thing - which is interesting, because the word out of their camp is Shadeur has been the best QB statistically to this point, with the only close competition being Flacco. Why would an owner distance himself from a potential super-value pick if he was planning on keeping him? i wanted us to draft him, and now with them in town for the joint practices and game, we know in the past, a lot of teams are able to get some really solid scouting and intel done in these settings and often pickup other players via cuts or trades from the teams they see up close in these joint practices. I feel he has tremendous tools to build on. I love his accuracy and anticipation, and so far, in their camp, he appears to be making huge strides and really impressing. The Browns just seem to not want him, for whatever reason, and that dates back to even then drafting him. Would you be interested in making a low-cost move for Shadeur as a developmental QB behind Bryce and Dalton? I would love this move.

TBH, I don’t recall many kickers known for their accuracy just falling off a cliff. I remember guys like Morten Andersen kicking well up to 40. I have to think Tucker’s likely was knowing all his chickens from his dirtbag activities were coming home to roost, and I imagine that definitely changed his performance on-field. And for the record, I don’t say this as an endorsement to sign him or for him period. He’s a creep. I’m simply wondering out loud how someone could have fallen off so quickly. i think Matthew Wright is an excellent kicker in his own right, but my opinion, considering our history with Butker, is no matter his struggles now, stick with Fitz and see what happens in a year or so. Give him a chance. My stance with Butker and Gano was to keep Butker. Hopefully the FO will start listening to me lol.

Watson is a cautionary tale because he pulled that trade coming off a full year he didn’t play due to injury and then almost a whole other full season due to an 11 game suspension for being a creep. If Parsons was coming off all of that, I’d agree - we don’t do it. But Parsons has been mentioned with the likes of LT and Mack. If we could swing it, we should do it. I don’t think the cowboys would trade him in-conference, but we’ve seen wilder things happen before (McRib to WSH).
-
Saw a post somewhere earlier that said what the Bears gave up for Khalil Mack would be a fair comp as to what to expect it would take to get Parsons. But Parsons is actually a year younger than Mack was at that point, and also, I believe Mack was named an all-pro at two different positions that prior year, iirc… but I think Parsons is as equally versatile. we should definitely see what it would cost, at minimum.

I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell. Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid. I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either. I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went. I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year. Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one. It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.” I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is. I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.

Nice turnaround for Kon. I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL. Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him. He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad. I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league. Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference. Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense. This was such a breath of fresh air. And look at us! We finally are champions!

Surprise! Kon looked really good in the 3rd. Some moments of hope there.

I can’t bring myself to ever watch it again. It just hurts too bad. I feel like it would be like getting assaulted in a dark alley and robbed, but when you walked down that alley it was bright, broad daylight, plenty of people around, and a nice part of town - but it was actually more like a movie set, and then they pull all the fake poo away and millions of people watched it happen and enjoyed it. Then after all of that, going back and watching it happen to you again. And again, and again, and again. I just can’t. that game and the 2016 opener made me question whether I even wanted to watch NFL games at all anymore.

Just objectively speaking, I don’t know how Kon was projected Top 5. Historically, those are picks either of the guaranteed franchise player or high-boom/high-bust potential ilk. Nothing about Kon is high-ceiling. As carpan said, looking at him, he fits the spot-up shooter backup mold. That just boggles my mind that he got boosted up to Top 5. I don’t see the value at all. He must have a hell of an agent.
-
Dk how accurate it is, but st the beginning of the game, they showed our depth chart and had him as the starter.
-
Ngl, I did NOT know Filipowski was this athletic.
-
Again, I really like McNeely so far. And tbh, I didn’t watch much of us last year, so I didn’t see Simpson, but he is fuging legit.
-
It’s not so much the pick, although admittedly I didn’t like it - but, it’s more the history of our franchise. I was salty about getting screwed in the lottery, and then it feels like it was a pick we just settled for. But, just like with the Panthers’ picks, even if I don’t like it, I’m still gonna pull for them because our success depends on it. But im also going to point out the good and the bad.
-
Nice. last I heard them say he was 0-5 and then jumped in the air to shoot and threw a turnover when it was contested. Everything I said is what he has done so far. Not saying it’s the end all, be all, but he objectively doesn’t look good.
-
Didn’t say that at all. But he objectively doesn’t look good. Some guys adjustment to SL the first few games takes a lot longer than others. I remember Trae Young looked like complete ass for almost the entirety of it…. It Kon already doesn’t have great tools. If you’re watching, they’re even trying to run plays for him and he just can’t get open. also, Salaun may not have looked refined, because he wasn’t, but physically you could put him out there and know he could play. Kon is not very athletic and doesn’t have a great frame - both of which Salaun already had, Salaun just needed to develop the fundamentals and refine his raw ability. Kon is relying mostly on his fundamentals.
-
Good news is, McNeely, Calkbrenner and James all look solid. Saulune (sp?) from last year has been really solid as well. but Kon just looks like ass.
-
Struggling to get open, currently 3 mins to go in the 3rd and he is 0 for in FGs, can’t create space with the ball or off the ball, forcing shots, and is getting cooked on defense. file that under never saw this coming.
-
I really thought we were gonna get Ayton. That center position is vomit-worthy right now. The Williams and Nurkic trades make zero sense without some big move to follow.
-
Damn, that’s legit. Last I saw, we were letting him test FA after acquiring Sexton. I didn’t think they were even gonna attempt to bring him back. Love that as long as he can keep his back in good shape. I have degenerative discs, so it can be a task…. Love the move though. and although I joke about the lighter complexion of our recent pickups, the I’m legit kind of excited about the UConn kid.

That 2 guard position whiter than white on rice on a paper plate in a snowstorm.

Hornets Screwed in NBA Draft Lottey...Again
TylerDurden replied to chknwing's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I brought it up elsewhere, but even the year we took SGA, which was the player I wanted that year (fwiw, I hated the Bridges pick), we took SGA then traded him for Bridges, who was taken a pick after ours. Like why tf should anyone do that? If we wanted Bridges, we could’ve just taken him without pick. And all we netted was a 2nd round pick and a solid role player who beats women in his spare time. But outside of player for player, all we gained was a 2nd rounder. And don’t feel like going back to look, but look how many picks we traded over the years for nothing or cash considerations. Remember when we drafted Duren and then traded him for literally fuging nothing? These trades are too many to count. -
But tbh, even if we took Ace, he would force his way out or be injured all the time or immediately leave when his contract was up after half-assing here then go on to be an all-star elsewhere. I see all these people now saying we need to trade LaMelo, but we’ve seen this movie before. He can’t stay healthy - then we trade him and he lives up to all of his potential while we poo the bed with whatever assets we got back for him and end up with nothing. It’s the Hornets and Panthers way.
