  1. Not unless they also fire Deuce Staley You don't fire your HC and then promote a coordinator to interim when you have an AHC. And if they were to promote a coordinator, it would be the OC since Deuce could then take over OC duties, promoting the DC just causes more problems.
  2. More like back to square zero or even negative one Reich aint it, but neither will whoever is willing to take the job while being willing to tie their HC career to Bryce. Firing Reich may be one step forward, but we're taking 5 steps back once we make a new hire, just wait until after next season for a new coach, it's by far the lesser of two evils.
  3. My Sundays are now officially a bust as I'm getting knocked out of the playoff hunt in fantasy today, and the Panthers are going to be part of the reason why, went up against Hubbard while getting a dud from Thielen, reverse them and I'm still alive (although not having the balls to play Kyren Williams in his first game back really might be what beats me, as playing him over anyone I was considering might have been enough to get the win). Thank god my two other teams are both in title hunts right now to make up for this awful season and give me something to enjoy this winter. My Arizona Wildcats are a legit National Championship contender this season (and I'm sure there are some Duke fans here who know how accurate that is, LOL), while I've also become a massive Wrexham fan over the past year or so and they're in 2nd place right now as well.
  4. Don't disagree with any of that, and I'm not in the slightest trying to support Reich or say anything of the sort. It has NOTHING to do with Reich and has EVERYTHING to do with what it would do to the future of this franchise. Reich is A problem, but he isn't THE problem, and firing him only creates more problems than it solves, problems that will further hinder trying to fix this franchise. It's why I'm openly and already saying that we should bring him back but fire him a month into the season when we suck again. Looking for a new HC is a bad, bad, bad idea this offseason, it should be done after next year (and not both).
  5. Yep, I'd also bet that any coach who would take the job would do so under 1 condition only, if they want to bench Bryce for Dalton (or a new backup that is signed) then they are allowed to do so. I could very well see a scenario where that happens and it ends up improving us to being good enough to end up with like the 5-7 pick in the draft and screwing ourselves out of finding a long term replacement for Bryce in the 2025 draft. It sucks, but we have to embrace the suck and play for a losing season next year, it really is the best and fastest way at turning this franchise's long term hopes around, and it angers me so much when fans can't see the forest through the trees to be able to understand that.
  6. I've said it for well over a month, we can't fire Reich because we won't be able to have any worthwhile HC willing to bet his career on Bryce and this roster. We need to keep Reich for next year, we can fire him a month into the season for all I care, but we aren't getting a good HC this offseason and we don't want to be the team that fires their HC in 3 straight offseasons while also having a sorely depleted roster. And frankly, our best bet at being able to turn this franchise around in the next 5 years is to be HORRIBLE next year and get the #1 pick in the draft without trading away assets so we can replace Bryce ASAP People can hate Reich all they want, but the FACT remains that firing him now or after this season will only set our franchise further back in the long term, as odd as it sounds, it's the truth.
  7. Sweet jesus, you really want to replace our crappy QB with another crappy QB who is going to lead his team to back-to-back Top 5 picks in the draft and is getting replaced because of it? While also giving up our 2nd best draft pick at the same time? We can't look at replacing Bryce until 2025 as there won't be a long term FA option we can sign (or would even want to sign here) and we don't have the draft capital to get a replacement either. At this point we just have to hope we end up in position to draft someone with elite upside in 2025 and we don't have to wait until 2026 (although I wouldn't hate that as it would open up the possibility of Arch Manning, assuming he becomes what everyone expects). We screwed the pooch despite 90% of fans being able to see this coming with Bryce, it's beyond fathomable that they could convince themselves to make that trade and then take the biggest gamble in the history of the NFL draft by taking someone who was going to have to be the biggest outlier in the history of the league to be successful. We put ourselves here, we now have to live with the consequences and go about a re-build the smart way instead of constantly trying to fit the square peg in the round hole by any means necessary.
  8. Doesn't necessarily mean he audibled Probably a better chance that 2 plays were called in the huddle and he just killed it to the second play, which may have been the right call based on the look the defense gave. The problem is if that second play that was called was that screen. It may be semantics, but there is a significant difference, if that was a second play called in the huddle, I wouldn't call that an audible as I'm sure there were specific things he was supposed to look for and then check to that play if he did/didn't see them.
  9. Great route running can't "just be taught in the NFL", if it could, there would be way more quality route runners in the league, far too many WRs crap out because they can't figure it out. It's so much more than counting your steps and making a cut that it's not even funny. It should be borderline illegal to honestly think great route running can easily be taught once you get to the NFL, it's frankly nonsense to think that. Not that it can't be, but it's pretty rare for a bad route runner in college to develop it at a high level once they get to the NFL. It's about proper technique off the line, being able to make your cuts at full speed without needing too many chop steps to get in and out of it, using your upper body to help sell your move to the defender, making your cut at a 45 degree angle on this route or a 90 degree angle on that route instead of 55 and 100 degree cuts. All those little things are what makes someone a great route runner compared to a poor one, and so much of it can't "just be taught" as a lot of it is instincts, discipline, precision, repetition, and sometimes just a flat out natural talent for it. Cowing runs great routes, he's savvy and knows how to find the holes and sit in them, just like Thielen has done for us this year, much of that can't be taught at the NFL level, you develop it over time and bring it with you to the NFL, not learn it there.
  10. I’ve never once said he’s a #1, I’ve actually said multiple times that he’s meant for the shifty slot role, essentially the #3 or #4 WR on the roster. Yea, I agree, Cowing will never be a #1 WR in the NFL, but he’s going to be a very successful slot WR in the league. And route running ability is extremely important and it clearly can’t just be taught to anyone, it’s a reason so many WRs fail to make it, because they just can’t run crisp routes and get open. It’s the reason someone like Thielen still is able to do what he does. Plus, Cowing has like a 5 year old son, it’s why he transferred to Arizona, to be closer to him and to help his NFL draft stock increase. He’s one of those guys who already has a family to feed and is going to work a little harder than the next guy because he has extra motivation to make it in the league. I think he’d be a perfect mid round pick for us, but as you said, clearly not meant to be a future #1. And T-Mac was more of a joke/pipe dream as he’ll be a 1st rounder in 2025 and I think we’ll get that #1 guy this off-season and/or need to use that 2025 1st on a new QB anyways.
  11. Nobody is trading for the first pick of the second round to take a QB and the certainly aren’t giving up a future first to do so. Sure, that first pick of the second round gets a lot of trade interest since the format changed as there’s like 20 hours for teams to drool at that first round graded player who fell to the 2nd. But if you’re trading up to take a QB, especially if you’re willing to give up a future first to do so, you’re trading for the last pick or two of the first round instead so you get the 5th year option on the contract.
  12. Not if the goal is to keep Bryce upright starting with Week 1 Our cap room needs to be spent on WR and then OL, we need guys who can step in and be a quality starter from Day 1, you're not getting that with a 3rd round lineman unless you're lucky, and I think we can get a more impactful player on defense with that first pick of the second round, maybe a CB or a pass rusher. Use the cap room room to get a WR 1 (likely through a Burns trade since there isn't any in the FA class) and then to get 2 new starting guards.
  13. He's 5'11" and 175 lbs, in what world is that too small to play the shifty slot WR role? He isn't a project, he's played 5 years and put up elite numbers for 3 straight years now. In 2021 he was 9th in the nation in receiving yards while at UTEP, in 2022 after transferring to Arizona he was 11th in receptions and 24th in yards (with another 1,000+ yard WR on the team), and is going to be top 15 in receptions this year again (again, with another 1,200+ yard WR who will be a 1st round pick in 2025). He's a savvy route runner who knows how to get open and is great after the catch and has a nose for the end zone, has 11, 7, and 7 TDs in his last 3 years. He's pretty much exactly what everyone wishes we had this year for Bryce, a small fast WR who can get open on short routes and then pick up YAC, Thielen with some speed to him. Sure, there will be other WR options in that 3-5 round range, but I really think he's going to get drafted in one of those rounds, he fits a need we have, I really hope he's someone we at least look at.
  14. I'm not a big enough college football fan to talk about other players, and yea, I'm sure there are other great options for a mid round speed WR, maybe/probably better than Cowing. But he 100% is an NFL WR and that is said with zero bias. He transferred into Arizona last year and his route running stood out to me from day 1, it's been clear to me that he's an NFL slot WR from game 1 and nothing has changed my mind on that. No, he's not a prototypical outside WR with #1 potential, but he's going to stick around as a slot WR for a long time in this league, I'm very much convinced of that. And T-Mac will be a 1st round pick in 2025, I'd bet money on that right now without a second thought.
  15. Oh Bryce is absolutely a bust, he's already proven that he's never going to be elite, even with a better team around him, league average QB is his absolute peak potential, and that's if EVERYTHING goes perfectly right for him the rest of his career, which let's be real, seems a low probability anyways. And I don't even think it's about giving him a 2nd season given the investment, it's that there isn't a logical way we can replace him after this season with a long term option. If we had our 1st rounder, I'm taking a new QB and shipping Bryce out for literally anything anyone would offer up for him, but we don't and you're not going to get a sure thing at QB in the 2nd or 3rd round, even in a good QB class. Honestly, if we had a better team, I'd be fine just benching him and going with Dalton or a FA at QB next year, but starting Bryce is our worst option, which in turn means it's our best chance at being in position to draft his replacement in 2025 by starting him and losing.
  16. You can't take a flyer on a 2nd or 3rd round QB the year after we made a huge trade up to take a QB #1 overall, not with as many holes as we have right now and no first round pick. Our 2nd round pick needs to be a week 1 starter while our 3rd needs to be at worst an impact player as a rookie, if not a starter. But I'm 100% on board with taking one in 2025 with our Top 5 pick that year and then dump Bryce. Which is also why you can't blow a pick on a QB in this year's draft, we need to add more talent to the roster for that QB we end up taking in the 2025 1st round. If we can find a way to pick up an extra 4th or 5th, I wouldn't be against taking someone then and seeing if we hit on one, but not with our first two picks or even our own picks, we'd need to find a way to get an extra pick in that range.
  17. Yes, we need a #1 WR now, but that doesn't change that we need to get us one of those quick twitch WRs for Bryce to get the ball to and let them go to work, it's a key position in the NFL these days and something we don't have. That's Cowing to a T, particularly as he's a VERY crisp and polished route runner. Don't look at his lower yardage stats this season and think it's because he's bad, just that the offense changed this year along with McMillan just taking over a lot this year. He's still going to end up with his most receptions in a season, only a couple behind last year now with the bowl game to play. McMillan is more of a pipe dream as my guess is we're drafting too high and could need a QB with that top 5 pick while he ends up going in the teens somewhere (also could have solved our #1 WR by then), but he's going to be an absolute stud in this league, his hands are out of this world and has made a couple utterly insane catches this year.
  18. Sure, I'll admit there is a slight (major?) bias here with me being an Arizona alum and them both being Wildcats, but I think we need to try and get Jacob Cowing in the 3rd or 4th round of this upcoming draft and then find a way to get Tetairoa McMillan in 2025 (even though he's likely looking like a 1st rounder and our 1st could be used on a new QB). Cowing is exactly who Bryce needed this year, a smaller quick twitch guy who thrives out of the slot but can also play out wide (think he'll be like a Tank Dell and be a mid rounder who explodes next year as long as he gets put into the right situation that needs to use him as a rookie). McMillan is just a flat out stud with amazing hands, reminds me a bit of AJ Green while watching him play, he's going to be a #1 WR in the NFL for a long time. Feel like our needs/draft position may take us out of the running for McMillan in 2 years, but I really hope they look at Cowing as a mid round pick in this next draft, he's exactly what we've been missing this year for Bryce.
  19. When a player gets hurt on Turf because their foot was planted in the ground while being tackled, then okay, it's fair to at least question it. But this was just him straight up starting to run from a standing position and his Achilles popped. It sucks, but it was just an unfortunate injury that happened, I don't see how it can be blamed on the turf on this one in the slightest.
  20. Wouldn't mind seeing if he had anything left as a cheap FA (although he'd never sign here if he clears waivers anyways), but that contract makes him untouchable for us, it would eat up too much of the cap space we need to keep set aside for a WR next year.
  21. I agree that it's too early to properly evaluate him in the offense, particularly with the OL and weapons. But it's not too early to say he doesn't have the physical traits to be elite, he could end up a serviceable starter, but he's never going to be elite, he lacks every physical tool needed to get to that level. And thus, the trade up to take him is beyond atrocious, you don't make that trade for someone who has a max potential of being the 20th best QB in the league.
  22. Yes, he is getting David Carr'd by this OL But he is also Josh Rosen'ing himself at the same time, and to a worse extent
  23. Totally disagree He showed numerous examples of exactly why he doesn't have the physical attributes needed to succeed in this league at QB. He's just not big, fast, or strong enough to compete at a high level in the NFL. On multiple occasions today did he have throws that the majority of backups could throw with more velocity on it, and it costs us completions and in some cases, they create turnovers. His game is making plays on the move, but unless he has a picture perfect set base for his throw, he can't put anything behind it, so the only throws he can make are touch throws that need arc on them, he can't throw into tight spaces on a line. It was a botched pick after a terrible trade, there's no way around it at this point, I'd honestly trade him for a 2nd round pick this offseason if someone was stupid enough to give us that, because it's more than we'll get after he's terrible next season as well.
  24. At bare minimum he’d have had multiple flashes of elite potential, something Bryce has never done. Bryce just doesn’t have the physical traits needed to compete in this league in general. Once you then factor in his size to the equation, it makes his lack of physical ability even worse. It was a beyond awful pick that we can’t even try to fix for until the 2025 draft
