  1. Possible he was referring to the 2021 draft, where QBs did go 1-2-3.
  2. Why do people keep bringing up "no HC experience"? Not just you but others do it too. Ya'll do realize no HC has HC experience until they become a HC, right?
  3. I want everyone to pledge loyalty to Ben Johnson.
  4. OT vs Falcons. We just got an interception. 1st and 10 at the Falcons 20 yard line. And what does Wilks do? Allow the offense to run the ball 3 times up the gut for 6 yards and settles for a FG. And obviously the kick is missed (by the way he had missed an XP earlier... why would you trust him in that moment?). In an important moment, in a game in which had he won we would have made the playoffs, Wilks settled for a field goal rather than trust a passing attack that was humming in the second half against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. If that was ANY other coach people would have kept bringing it up. But for some reason people just overlook Wilks' mistakes. It is bonkers to me. If Rhule coached like that people would crucify him. Hell when Rivera used to coach like that, fans were LIVID. And it ain't like Wilks learned his lesson that you need to be aggressive to win in the modern NFL. Look at his situational decisions against the Bucs. Wilks is and will always be conservative. It is clearly who he is as a HC. Why are fans ignoring this? Nobody brought up that atrocious Falcons conservative play-calling after the fact.
  5. Players wanted Singletary. Players wanted Freddie Kitchens. Bills players wanted Perry Fewell. Falcons wanted Raheem Morris. Players always back the interim unless the interim is terrible. Hell you had players still backing Rhule at the end of 2021. It shouldn't factor in. What should factor in is what Wilks does outside of being a good leader. How are his halftime adjustments? How are his defenses historically? What connections does he have around the NFL? Rivera knew Wilks, McDermott, Chud, etc. all before coming to Carolina. Who does Wilks know? Leftwich? Most importantly, what makes him any different than Ron Rivera?
  6. There is no way the Ravens, or any team, would let their franchise QB walk in FA. They will 100% tag him. Cousins is the only sub-30 QB I can think of recently that has hit FA that was a franchise guy, but 1) Cousins wasn't seen as some bonafide top 10 QB like Jackson is and 2) Washington tagged him like 2 or 3 years in a row. I guess Brady hit FA but only because he negotiated a deal where they couldn't tag him.
  7. You are describing Mike Singletary. A rah-rah coach who can get his players to play hard but doesn't have the expertise to take a team over the top. 49ers were 5-11 in 2007 and 2-5 in 2008 under Mike Nolan. Singletary takes over, they go 5-4, and would have challenged for a playoff spot in a terrible division (Cardinals won it at 8-8) if Singletary was HC all year despite the inconsistency at QB. Again... sound familiar? And everyone thought Singletary was going to be the next great coach and pushed for the 49ers to keep him, and he kept a team with a very strong roster mediocre. Singletary had no connections, so his choice for OC was the AWFUL Jimmy Rave. There is no way anyone can convince me Steve Wilks will be able to bring an up-and-coming or established play-caller here. He just ain't been around the block because he's mainly been with Rivera. Wilks is literally the understudy of Ron Rivera... who we all pushed out of here. Don't second guess yourself. Wilks did a great job this season, I ain't gonna hate on that. But he's not the guy that is about to turnaround a franchise that hasn't made the playoffs since 2017. And definitely not the guy to develop a franchise QB.
  8. You do realize Wilks has basically worked under Ron his whole career, right? The only three years he hasn't were with the Cardinals as HC (fired after one season), Browns as DC (fired after one season), and this year under Rhule. What in the world would make you think Wilks has the connections or influence to get a good play-caller here? Spoiler alert: he doesn't Bringing Wilks back is such an obvious waste of time and acceptance of mediocrity that it blows my mind he has the support that he does. We just finished a game with like 32 passing yards and 10 points scored. We just choked away a 21-10 lead to a bad Bucs team and let their offense go off on season-highs against us. But sure, lets bring him back as HC LMAO Knowing damn well if that was Rhule coaching those games people would be livid.
  9. I mean, he was easily the #1 rated linebacker and by and large was considered the safest pick in the draft and had an amazing combine. I'd say most people actually expected him to be a great player. Still don't think we've seen a MLB prospect as good as him since.
  10. Hire Ben Johnson, trade for Lamar Jackson = profit
  11. Both teams looked like trash. We scored 10 points. We won on a last-second field goal. We beat the Saints, but saying we "embarrassed" them would have someone thinking we won by 20 points or something. And it isn't like the Saints had anything to play for. I doubt they cared about the game any more than we did.
  12. I will cry if the Panthers retain Steve Wilks.
  13. This conservative game plan makes me think Wilks is staying. Why aren't we going balls to the wall?!
  14. I'm not going to play the semantics game here. I meant it in a sense that the passing game is more important, which I think everyone can agree on. But, as I said in my post, you still need to have an effective run game. And Leftwich has never established one.
  15. Leftwich is garbage. I never got the hype behind him. His offenses could never run the ball and don't give me that "running isn't important" mumbo jumbo. Sure it shouldn't be the main way you move the ball but you need teams to respect your run game. And Bucs' run game has sucked every year. Leftwich has benefited greatly from Tom Brady.
