  1. If I’m not mistaken, need another minority candidate to fulfill Rooney Rule requirements. Probably will see a report we want to interview DeMeco Ryans tomorrow. Low key I think the Caldwell and Reich interviews are more so for OC options in a Wilks HC scenario. If Wilkes isn’t the guy I feel that either Steichen or Johnson get the nod.
  2. We definitely know they need one more minority candidate to fulfill Rooney Rule obligations. I'd think that would be DeMeco Ryans alongside Jim Caldwell, but given some reports on Tepper potentially preferring experience, I wouldn't be surprised if either Steelers LB Coach Brian Flores or Bills DC Leslie Frazier get an interview here, given both were ex-HCs.
  3. lmao and I'm sure you have a clue about it with your vast NFL experience? Also Hackett had years of experience and sucked which actually undermines the point you're trying to make But what about that Bengals winning culture before he was hired!!!
  4. If a guy's got it, a guy's got it. He may only have one year of OC experience but has been an NFL coach since 2012. He's had a hand in nearly every offensive position over the past decade, having been a QB, WR, and TE coach prior to OC. He was also the Lions passing game coordinator last season prior to being named OC this year.
  5. I mean she's an owner of the team too. Of course she'll sit in on the interviews and I'm sure Dave will ask her opinion. It's not like Dave has any hard football credentials that makes him more qualified than her to know what makes a good head coach? This is a nothing burger of a story.
  6. Missed the part where you said "you lose your job the next year". If they trade Fields and draft a QB at 1, no chance the coach/FO would lose their job the following year unless Fields immediately won MVP with his new team and the Bears went 0-17 with the rookie looking like a Leaf-level bust.
  7. Eh the flip side is you keep Fields and he tops out as a mediocre passer and the QB who goes #1 becomes the next superstar. You probably lose your job then too.
  8. Young's taken plenty of big hits this season and more importantly, as a pocket passer, I don't think Young would put himself in the line of danger as much as Fields does. Taking big hits like the ones Fields does are the reason Cam's out of the league right now.
  9. To be clear, I'd rather have Fields over any QB on our roster and over anyone not named Stroud or Young in this draft (I'd take him over Levis as well tbh). But I don't think it's insane for the Bears to think about dealing Fields and grabbing an arguably better QB prospect on a new rookie deal that's aligned with the timeline of the new coaching staff and front office.
  10. He's including Fields rushing scores. If you do the same from Winston in the above stat he had 15 total TDs in 7 games so similar to his argument for Fields (2.1 TDs/game for Jameis vs 2.2 TDs/game for Fields, 0.57 TOs/game for Jameis vs 0.75 TOs/game for Fields). Hell that 7 game stretch from 2021 is why the Saints thought Jameis was their answer for 2022. Fools gold.
  11. You keep including Fields rushing TDs in his TD total but then ignoring his fumbles in the turnover total. It's 18 total TDs to 6 total turnovers (Bears recovered 4 of his 5 fumbles). And yes, in 2021 in 7 starts for New Orleans, Winston had 15 total TDs to 4 total turnovers.
  12. Let's take a look at the playoff field: NFC 1. Philly - Led by a first time HC 2. SF - Led by a first time HC 3. MIN - Led by a first time HC 4. TB - Retread HC 5. Dallas - Retread HC 6. Giants - Led by a first time HC 7. Seahawks - Retread HC AFC 1. KC - Retread HC 2. BUF - Led by a first time HC 3. CIN - Led by a first time HC 4. JAX - Retread HC 5. LAC - Led by a first time HC 6. BAL - Led by a first time HC 7. MIA - Led by a first time HC Someone has to give a coach an opportunity for them to have HC experience.
  13. Lamar will def be tagged but lots of rumblings out there that each side seems fed up with each other
  14. BC broke his ankle, but hoping to avoid surgery per Person. Corbett getting an MRI on his knee but was spotted in a brace.
  15. I think if Staley missed the playoffs, that's where he'd be going. Suppose it's still possible if Staley flames out on Saturday night.
  16. If Payton wants back in this year, I think his choice will be between Wilson or Murray...unless he wants the Houston gig.
  17. Wonder if they pursue Payton. Much better pick to offer the Saints (#3) vs. the Broncos (late 1st via SF) and would allow the Saints to get their QB of the future.
  18. Mike Kaye notes there is interest in Ben Johnson from the Panthers. Person reports that (as of now), there is no interview scheduled with Frank Reich.
  19. Since this has become a Fields thread, interesting thread below: The top tweet is the start of the thread, there's several tweets though that make a compelling case the Bears should start over at QB however.
  20. Wilks will have an end of season presser today so may get an update then I would think
