  5. My God, it's full of stars.

  6. just wanted to say i read Forever War and I recommend it as well.
  7. you actually might like Doomesday Book then, it's a pretty effective mix of sci-fi and historical fiction without becoming alt. history. love me some sc-fi noir though. might have to check that one out.
  8. i've been meaning to read The Forever War on your recommendation Inimicus. Library just hasn't brought it around yet.
  9. i don't mean it in a bad way at all, bradbury is my favorite writer. like vonnegut, his concepts were deep enough that alot of things that weren't technically sci-fi played like sci-fi. If that makes any sense.
  10. no, bradbury is more weird than sci-fi. Asimov is pretty straight up (though traditional) sci-fi imo.
  11. Dunno about new but you can safely fall back on anything by: Bradbury, Heinlein, Dick, Asimov, Niven and a few more that I can't think of right now. or do what I do when I can't find something to read, just get a list of Hugo Award winners and pick one that sounds interesting. Speaking of which: http://www.amazon.com/Doomsday-Book-Connie-Willis/dp/0553562738 this is pretty damn good.
  12. c'mon I loved those salvatore books when I was like 12.
  13. tolkein's greatest sin may have been that he created the fantasy genre.
  14. predictable after 100 years of people ripping him off? I'm SHOCKED!
  15. tolkein has choked originality from the genre that he created FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE!!!1 no. I will blame the perpetrators. Tolkein, though dry at least wrote good stories and created vivid worlds.
  16. boring is one thing. boring and uninspired is another. Wheel of time was like reading a role playing game.
  17. the first half of the first one bored the shiat out of me. /i know I'm in the minority here.
