Shaq Thompson's specialty is creating and returning turnovers. In particular ripping the ball out when other players are making a tackle or being in position to scoop and score.  Is that not the perfect player to put next to Kuechly?

that aspect of his game kind of reminds me of ed reed.  that's pretty exciting in and of itself.

But if you look short term and the recipe Rex Ryan used to lead the Jets to 2 straight AFC Championship games this trade makes sense. 

Thomas Jones and Ladanian Tomlinson ran point for the Jets Mark Sanchez led offense and an attacking defense to within one win of the Super Bowl.

So assuming this goes through...

 

You have an offensive coach trading away his best weapon for a young linebacker who tore his ACL last year.

 

And you have a defensive coach trading a potentially great young linebacker for an aging runningback.

 

I know there are loads of other factors to figure in, but any way you slice it this still comes off to me as an odd transaction.

Kiko's too small for the D that ryan traditionally runs and the eagles figure they can get 80% of mccoy's production out of 25% as much running back... and with that line, maybe they can.

gonna be interesting to see how it pans out.
