  1. I dont know what an outlier is in football frankly given that every team runs multiple offensive schemes and even teams like New England who most folks think pass all the time still run the ball over 40% of the time.  We are very similar to Seattle and while we havent had the same success we use a similar formula and hopefully will have similar success this year.  We have been in cap hell the last few years which they have not but might be soon.  So dont be surprised if the worm turns and they fade while we start to surge.

    Here's to the worm....

  2. First of all you dont ignore Wilson's runs just like you dont ignore Newton's runs as part of the running game unless you want to change the facts to suit your argument.  Seattle ran the ball 525 times out of a total of 1021 plays for a run percentage of 52% which is what I said.  They run the ball more then they pass.

Secondly they absolutely use play action all the time.  Here is an article discussing it.

This was analysing the 2013  season but it noted that Seattle led the league in play action while we were 4th.

As for the spread versus other offenses, all teams run versions of the spread as well as several other offenses so saying that a team is a spread offense when talking about most any team besides Philadelphia is not very accurate. Here is an article that might help explain to you why Seattle utilizes a power run game but does so often out of the one back set and how that compares to traditional power running schemes. The modern day power running game uses a lot more deception  and multiple sets than in the past but it is still considered a power running game.

So the reality is that absolutely Seattle uses play action and a power running game to match their strong defense.  That is their offensive formula and it is exactly what we are going to try to do this year as well.

That's real swell and all but Seattle is an outlier offensively and an elite NFL team. Carolina is neither.

  3. Stop. I'm not letting my kid run wild in a 20,000+ person arena. No normal human would. I wouldn't even trust my team-mates to watch her, that's my child and she's with me.

Oh yeah I'm sure it was the safety of the child in that unsafe environment. Get real.

  4. Tom Brady is a piece of poo, I hate the motherfuger now more than ever. This piece of poo threw the ball guy under the bus and denied even knowing the identity of the locker room attendant of the past 32 years. The under inflated ball is nothing but his complete lack of character is the real issue here.

  5. Huddlers make fun of Hurney for drafting LBs and RBs all the time

Huddlers love Gettleman for not being like Hurney

Gettleman drafts LBs and RBs all the time

    /Huddle Logic

So true and it's Hurney's picks that have given humpty dumpty a pass his first two seasons. His most significant move at this point is still blowing up a 12-4 team. We'll see.

Spare me the salary cap crap.

  6. We likely could have stayed where we were and gotten the guy we got. But we gave up a very valuable 3rd to move up.

Gettleman may well be an above-average talent evaluator, but he's below average at overall draft strategy. If most of your peers and the media think a guy is a 2nd or 3rd rounder...don't take him in the 1st. THAT's when you trade up in the 2nd.

Who in front of us at 57 was even going to take Funchess? None of those teams needed WR and many of them actually went WR in round 1. Why not wait, and if you're wrong you take Strong or your BPA? Why trade multiple picks for someone it wasn't even clear others were contemplating?

Hopefully DG is right on these evaluations, but my issue is his overall draft strategy. You can't completely ignore what everyone else (your peers and the draft "experts") are saying about a player - if you do, you can end up drafting players at the wrong time.
