  1. Too many Buffalo fans for my liking. And still a lot of empty seats- place was nowhere close to full last night. The Sabres second goal was a an easy save, looked like Raanta got handcuffed a little, but a softie nonetheless. Aho's best game of the season so far- in ever facet. Face-offs, assists, goals (obviously) and his D was pretty stout last night also.
  2. My wife snatched my hat so fast, I never had a chance. Oh well, it was a few years old.... needed a new one anyway.
  3. Slow and lethargic in the 1st period, so Aho picked the team up and carried them on his back. The right hook will make Sportscenter. So will the hattie.
  4. Sorry guys, was at a wine dinner last night and didn't get home until there was 3:00 left in OT. Thought the Canes could wrap it up when they went 4-on-3, but no such luck. Andersen stood tall in the SO, though and Aho was nasty to end the game. Will be at the game tonite... go Canes!
  5. Another back-to-back tonight in Tampa and tomorrow night back home for Buffalo. Bogosian is out, Hedman is day-to-day and Cirelli is out. The usuals for the Canes, except it should be noted, everyone except Kase was on the ice yesterday, including Max Pacioretty.
  6. Buffalo is a scoring machine. At 6-3-0, they've already put 37 goals up, averaging 4 a game! Friday could be a challenge.
  7. Will be at our first game of the season with our 11-game package this Friday night against the Sabres. I backloaded our games, with the last 5 coming in the last 2 months of the season, including the last home game of the season. So, my wife has always been adamant about not having a TV over the fireplace. So, we were visiting friends in Beaufort not long ago and they have a nice piece of art on the wall and the TV comes on. My wife is really liking the look and I don't say a word.... until Monday. I spent yesterday driving to Cary and measuring the wall to install my new Samsung Frame 65". Spent today tuning it up and situating all the peripherals. All done with the exception of hiding everything. Had to order a new S-audio cable longer than what I have so I can stash all wires and boxes out of the way. I'll have it done tomorrow as soon as Amazon delivers that cable. Watching a playoff run this season will be so much better!
  8. Another way that "certain fans signal their virtue" (whatever the fug that means. I think the appropriate term is virtue signal) tell you point blank they don't watch. Instead, they watch the YouTube highlights. It's 15 minutes versus 3 hours. Get over yourself.
  9. Noessen is the 1st star. Boy, did he take a boarding hit (not called).
  10. That's what I've been waiting for from Stastny.
  11. Kemper is not that good. Keep getting pucks to the net. Washington keeps sagging back to defend the goal, making for good looks in close.
  12. I'm here... very nice 1st period. Again, gotta stay outta the box. Don't give Putin a chance to set up on his spot. I may dislike Washington hockey as much as I dislike New Orleans football.
  13. "Tanking in sports refers to the practice of intentionally fielding non-competitive teams to take advantage of league rules that benefit losing teams." By definition, the Panthers are not "tanking." To suggest Rhule & Company intentionally built and fielded a non-competitive team is giving him a poo-ton of credit he doesn't deserve. This is simply a very bad football team, built by a head coach with zero professional experience and zero knowledge. At this point, I have to believe the only people watching this team play are the same people who watch NASCAR just to see the wrecks. At least, with the Panthers, you're guaranteed a wreck week in and week out. Oh, YouTube has the highlights, too. You only have to spend 15 minutes of your valuable time getting everything you need to be pissed off until next week. Who knows, maybe if you just watched the highlights for 15 minutes instead of giving up 3 hours on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, you find yourself in a much better state of health, both physically and mentally.
  14. Kasay cost the Panthers a Super Bowl. Call out all the other excuses you want, but he kicked off OB and gave the Tom Brady Pats the ball at the 40.
  15. Well, at least you have a huge sample size to choose from.
  16. And I'll admit this: In the OT when Burns came on the ice with about a minute left, I was saying out loud as the winning play was developing, "Oh crap, he's gonna turn it over and Flyers will get a breakaway game winner."
  17. Know why the Staal line scored twice? Net front. The other lines are cycling and moving, but have no physicalty in front of the net. Stastny & Stepan should be able to provide that, but no one has shown they can replace what we had in Vinny and Nino when it came to net front presence.
  18. Good day for me- USC, Navy and the Canes all win.
  19. Team might be better at 3-on-3... Anyway, the Necas writer to tie the score was a rocket. Followed by the Burns cannon. What a pass by the way...
  20. The patented Raanta weak goal. Canes go from 2-0 to a 3-2 down, giving up 3 unanswered. This is not good hockey. Canes suddenly look slow and out of shape.
  21. Carolina takes 4 penalties in the 2nd period. Burns is going for the penalty hat trick- he has 1 in each period. The Aho line is invisible tonite, the PK and PP are weak. Who are the players tonite? Staal line. Coghlan, Chatfield. Jarvis is working, but nothing to show yet. Canes scorers need to get going.
  22. Good 1st period. Philly not afraid to scrap so the Canes gotta stay outta the box. Philly PP could be potent. Staal & Martinook with goals.
  23. Guess no one is on the board this evening.. I'll check in later.
  24. Flyers PP looks really good. Guy whiffed on an open net, otherwise it's 1-1.
