  1. This whole thread came after someone asked Mitch what they need to be better. They did touch on Malik but the main point of improvement for him was center, "several" centers. We need size upfront more than anything. Our backcourt is fine if they keep Graham and Rozier, they both play SG. Add a SG in FA if Malik leaves and we're good. Oh, the gentleman asked if I thought Garza was worth #11 this year. I said I would pick a Cockburn or Garza at 11 because we need a scoring big with size desperately. Nothing crazy about needing a dump truck. Badly.
  2. LiAngelo is a 6'5" SG with a nice shot, 2nd brother. None of our SG are above 6'3" now. That would be a size upgrade. Is he a better player than Malik? I think the 3pt shot may be equal or better. Ball has the height advantage and probably fits a rotation with Miles if you wanted a big lineup on the floor. Gotta get big at center though.
  3. The X factor as stated in the Gelo thread is if they lose Monk the Ball Bros. would play the 1 and 2. If they do that, they'll be fine, maybe better. LiAngelo can definitely shoot and he has an NBA body AND probably plays with/off Melo probably better than anybody on the roster. Would adding instant chemistry in the backcourt be a good thing? Yes. Then Mitch could focus on Center, Center, Center in FA and the draft.
  4. Really, lol. I'm correct about Kofi AND Garza. Let's just see who's NBA ready. Lol! "Unhealthy" I focused on centers we can actually draft. You're talking about a guy who's out of reach, even IF he gains enough weight to be a center night in night out in the NBA.
  5. Mobley is 7'0 210lbs wet. I'll get Kofi 7'0 285lbs and smash him. Mobleys weight disadvantage will be HUGE against NBA centers. He may we'll have to play PF to stay on the floor most nights.
  6. I've been avoiding this until it could no longer be classified as foolishness. The chatter has been there for some time now. Grampa Ball seems excited.
  7. If you see how expensive a free agent center that is any good costs, drafting a center that can play right away becomes the best bargain and advantage until his contract comes up if you pick a starter. Long term, drafting one or more, if they can play, may be the cheapest and perhaps more rewarding if you make it to the playoffs a couple times before you have to pay center prices.
  8. The NBA and NFL are tough jobs to keep. Center is a weight class. If we get Kofi and another big along with Carey and Richards. Teams play "small ball" out of necessity. Big athletes like Shaq with guys like Kobe, win titles. Get BIG.
  9. When your GM says they need several guys at your position?! I'd rent, not buy.
  10. See, that's why I never trust the rankings until we get closer to the draft. They always have these international guys nobody has heard of. Bad investment. I've heard good things about Sharpe but he doesn't fill up the stat sheet so just like Kai Jones we're going of projections and potential instead of performance. I wouldn't be mad at them taking Sharpe he is a Blueblood 6'11" 265lbs, but Ive seen two other guys play two years, start and dominate in the Big10, it's hard to not see and it's hard for me to put guys above them on potential and very limited minutes on the floor. Fools gold!? I don't know and nor did Cho.
  11. At least, as a franchise, we've been to the big game twice in recent history. The deck was stacked against us but we know what it takes. New England used to be that team.
  12. Lol. Charlotte has more hotels and infrastructure than anywhere in SC. If RockHill blinks, Charlotte and surrounding has plenty of land and hospitality. Problem solved.
  13. https://nbadraftroom.com/centers/ They've got Kofi at 4, Garza at 8. I really think Kofi will rise. Is Center more of a need than BPA? If so you've got to pick the best one there at 11.
  14. Unpopular opinion: that image is puke worthy. Same folk hated and hated on teh Locker room here on teh huddle until it got cancelled.
  15. ^^^ This. They ruin everything these days. F' it!
  16. Can't remember where I saw it but there was a rumor about Hayward to Indiana for Turner.
  17. Mitch said "several" centers. Not me. Neither one of those guys is 7'285lbs. They need bigger bodies.
  18. Would I take Garza at 11? Me, yeah, but I'm that guy who was telling everyone Kyle Trask was worth a second before the draft and Tampa drafted him in the second. I'm not a Kai fan yet so if I NEED a center I'd draft a couple like when Gettleman drafted Star and KK. Both Garza AND Cockburn were big-time scoring 5's in the Big10, Garza 6'11"265lbs, Cockburn 7' 285lbs. Me? I've locked in and I'd try like heck to get both.
  19. The Bobcats were a disaster in my opinion. I didn't think Bob Johnson did a good job at all. I know Jordan was an executive but the owner has the pen. Gerald Crash Wallace, amazing player. That was about it. Okafor fizzled. I think Jordan, although not perfect, pulled the franchise out of a nose dive and has leveled the plane and has now along with Mitch started to gain altitude. The Bobcats where horrible looking back, the mascot, the colors, going back it's puke worthy compared to the (thanks to MJ) new Hornet's. Judging him from rebranding BACK to the Charlotte Hornets and now. I see exponential improvement and positives throughout the whole organization.
  20. That's huge and comes from learning. He signed off on letting Kemba walk. I was mad about that. It ended up being the best move. Gotta give credit where credit is due. The team image, uniforms, atmosphere at the arena, all better because of MJ. I've been to many old Hornets games and Bob Johnson Bobcats games, when MJ took over the arena became more of a party atmosphere every game win or lose. I'm giving MJ credit for what the Hornets are now, much more flashy, court and all, now more firepower than ever with a real GM and a good up and coming coach who is getting better. Miles Bridges, LaMelo, good decisions.
  21. Mike, remember all those people saying you couldn't run a team or pick players?! Where they at???
  22. Will WE be there at 11?! (High trade possibility) Garza is a late first rounder, probably a second round guy this year. Being that most of the top echelon will be guards and forwards this year, bigs are going be a bargain. Not saying it's going to be easy to get Garza or Cockburn, somebody will target both, but as of now both are project to be AFTER the first round, plus there are other bigs "rated" higher than them.
