  1. Flipped it to the bowl game on ESPN. Texas State is up 17 on Rice, but they just showed highlights of an earlier bowl game today. Minnesota made it to that bowl game at 5-7, so you don't even need to be .500 to make it to a bowl anymore.
  2. What is or isn't a catch is 100% ref opinion and is used to control the outcome of games.
  3. He wasn't the only one, just the most vocal
  4. Too bad the deep TE draft was last year, which Fitt ignored. Bowers is the prize of this year's TE crop and none of the rest are really close.
  5. I think things got worse when ESPN, Fox, and CBS started offering those exclusive TV contracts for the conferences, taking the games away from the local/regional broadcasts. But it is what it is. I can see things collapsing especially if NIL and the transfer portal keep being a thing. And I don't think NIL and the portal are going anywhere.
  6. There's also money in college women's basketball and volleyball. Those two sports are on the rise, with the volleyball championship doing 1.7 million viewers last Sunday against the NFL, but it still doesn't compare to football. That said, the volleyball game increased its ratings by 115% over 2022, so ABC/ESPN were probably thrilled.
  7. Yeah. And as FSU proved today, it's all about the money
  8. NIL specific contracts for bowl games could work. That or include NIL incentives for playing in bowl games.
  9. From Bloomberg There's a lot of other articles out there saying the same thing
  10. Don't go overboard. The Broncos owners are like twice as rich as Tepper and they're no where close to Musk/Bezos. I mean Musk lost 200 billion this year and it didn't know him off his perch as the richest asshole in the world.
  11. So, no different than any other college
  12. Yeah, FSU got jobbed. Even without their starting QB, they should be in the playoffs. I wonder if Clemson will wait to see how FSU's freedom bid goes or if they go ahead and start their own lawsuit too.
  13. Yeah, but giving up a quarter for two dimes or a dime and two nickels is dumb. That's what Fitt did that draft.
  14. It is when you don't have quality starters in place, which the Panthers didn't have except for a couple of positions. They needed starters everywhere, so taking higher talent players made a lot more sense but I remember Fitt also saying except for the top 15 or so players, he considered the talent level for the rest of the draft about the same. That should have been a huge red flag for people too, but it wasn't. Now, if you have talented starters and just need decent backups and bench guys, then yeah, quantity over quality can work since you want those guys to be cheap anyway.
