    That's short-sighted, doesn't count for the fact that most drafts have somewhere between 14-16 players with real first round grades, doesn't account for the fact that some positions take longer than others for prospects to adapt to the NFL, doesn't account for the low hit rate of draft picks in general including the first round.

    The other reason I like the pick is this is a weak draft first round talent wise. "What I mean is actual prospects with a true first round grade, it's usually around 14-16, this draft is closer to 10-12." There probably wasn't another player on the Panthers board that any where close to a first round grade besides for Freeling.

    I think the Panthers have one of the best group of Oline coaches in the NFL, so I think it's more likely than not that he reaches his ceiling in Carolina. Which means I think they drafted a 10+ year starting probowl LT at 19th overall. Pretty good deal if you ask me. I said it in one of these threads, great pick for the 2027-2028 Panthers and beyond.

    It sounds like I hate the pick but I don't, he just doesn't help this year's team much. If the staff can fix the technique issues, you've got a 10+ year probowl LT. Which immediately makes this a good pick because at 19 in the first, the gamble is 100% worth it.

    I doubt Ikem plays this year at all. That said, for Freeling to start and play well means the oline staff needs a raise, medals, and statues outside the stadium.

    That's absolutely terrifying if you play behind that line if he sees the field for anything besides being an extra lineman on goal line rushes 5-6 times a game. His technique is awful, his combine drills were worse than dreadful... but he's got the tools to be a 10-12 year probowl LT if they sit him and help fix the technique issues.

    They are still in the same spot injury wise. Well, they hope they are at least. He's a great pick for the 2027-2028 Panthers team but not so much so for the 2026-2027 team. Even those that like the pick, admit it's a punt for the upcoming season as he's not likely to make a difference this season.

    Who the hell thinks he's pro ready???? I can't think of a single person who thinks that legitimately. Everyone who does mocks and scouts thinks he needs to sit one or two years with good oline coaches

    Unless Goodwin and Gilbert work some real magic, or you hate Young.... Better hope like hell he don't. He legitimately needs to sit a year, refine his technique and add legitimate NFL bulk.

    Last year was his first real experience on online, we are talking about a dude who was around 240 like 4 1/2 years ago and just started bulking up big time recently. He needs a NFL nutrition plan and good coaching which he will get.

    You shouldn't hate it, they basically got the best LT in this draft at 19 because he doesn't have experience and needs refinement on technique because of that lack of experience. If he had started another year in college, he goes top 10 bare minimum this draft if not higher.

    He's 100% a project player and everyone should hope like hell that he doesn't see the field this year. That said I don't mind the pick because Carolina has a good online coach and he shouldn't be pressed to start this season at all.

    Matt Miller's comp for Freeling was Tyler Guyton. Not a day one starter but has starter potential down the road.

    Just a defense glue guy in the post. Played 11 minutes and averaged 5 and 3 with half a steal and block per game.
