What a mess of a draft pick Hoping they don't try something similar in this draft and just go bpa defense.
-
Wild ass stat from yesterday is Jags won a game vs titans where mac Jones went 0 TD and 2 INT lol

Why are you reviving months old threads I made lol this should be rather interesting thread now

Never draft an injured player and never draft a RB before round 3
Hoenheim replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think frank gore tore his knee twice in college and ended up #2 or #3 all time in rushing yards. That being said? Brooks going down in season 1 is more than disappointing considering we traded UP in R2 to get him, when we had sore needs on defense to fix. -
Possible? Sign Tee Higgins and extend Horn this offseason
Hoenheim replied to Gapanthersfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Higgins would destroy our cap space and you'd end up paying big money to two players in Higgins and Horn who have demonstrated repeatedly that they can not stay healthy. Stop investing into injury prone players. Seriously.. -
I don't see this being mentioned enough. Since philly scored off bryces int and we didn't turn philly over, that was the true difference in these game.

Because the panthers are obsessed with drafting big ass project wrs like funchess, Benjamin, Mingo, and Legette. They literally never draft polished route runners or guys with excellent hands. They always go for height weight speed. Pretty simple. And it's a trend that has existed within the organization with multiple different owners, GMs, and coaching staffs. The only correlation is the Panthers organization itself somehow. They have a type of WR they fall in love with every time.
-
It was either drops or fumbles or both with DJ. I remember that poo it was a problem... he turned out pretty good eventually Then we had guys like Funchess who never quite turned the light on. Gonna have to hope legette follows dj Moore's route. I personally would mostly concentrate on fixing defense. If you want a WR real bad draft one R3 or after, or get one in free agency. We desperately need a year where we aren't spending high round draft capital on wrs that haven't been panning out well lately. Fix the God damn defense. The panthers always draft the same type of big ass project WRs anyway. Draft another position please.

Especially with this upcoming draft being a weak one for qbs in general I could see one of these qb hungry teams trading for Mccarthy, easily.
-
Watching what we've done the last few weeks we can literally beat anyone but we can also lose to anyone If our WRs catch everything, we have minimal penalties and no turnovers?? I like our chances.
-
If you have a qb performing that well you have to keep him imo Mccarthy is an unknown. I'd personally sign sam and trade JJ. I guess if they want to be cute about it that could trade Sam and keep JJ and get a haul of draft picks to go with their essentially rookie qb

Would love to see a Vikings vs Lions NFC Championship Game

Sam Darnold may have had the game of his career today 79% completion percentage, 347 passing yards, 5 Passsing TDs 0 INT. Jeeesus They would be stupid not to pay Sam. But no idea what they will do with JJ McCarthy. I'd trade him. Financially it makes sense to move on from Sam and go with McCarthy next season but Sam Darnold has absolutely balled out. Maybe they could get away with not having to pay him a mega contract because of Sam's career before Minnesota. But if it turns into a bidding war someone definitely could give him a mega contract. As of right now he's the biggest free agent this off season and it's not even close.

but thats not the case. Reality is hes done almost nothing and got injured twice in 2 years.
-
Chicago needs to draft like 3 offensive linemen next year
-
Yetur Gross Matos, former Panther, has 3 sacks against the bears today. Wow.
-
Josh Allen has to be MVP. Holy mother of christ!
-
best take ive seen on this so far
-
The Los Angeles Rams look absolutely incredible man. Bills beat the Cheifs this year but the Rams are taking the Bills to the woodshed right now. Jesus.
-
JOSH ALLEN LONG TD PASS AND RUN TO KALIL SHAKIR These late games are fuging awesome today!!

I think Jerry Rice and Terell Owens came from no-name schools. So IDK how valid that argument is. I guess its valid a probability sort of way. Its statistically improbable you'd find great WR from small schools but I don't think its a coincidence that top 5 WR in receiving yards all time went to small schools. #1 WR Jerry Rice : Mississippi Valley State University #2 WR Larry Fitzgerald: University of Pittsburg #3 WR Terell Owen: University of Tennessee at Chattanooga #4 WR Randy Moss: Marshall #5 WR Isaac Bruce: Memphis I guess you can argue that Pittsburg and Memphis arent small schools? but they def were not and are not known for putting out premier college WRs

The Panthers historically have been obsessed with projecting the WRs they get in the draft for height/weight/speed and overall athletic protentional and tend to ignore straight up production and eye test on college WRs. This is why we've ended up with WRs like Funchess, Mingo, TMJ, Curtis Samuel, and now Legette, among others. None of them had great consistent production in college and were viewed as projects (maybe minus TMJ who was good on LSU). The only WR the Panthers ever drafted that had not much college production but ended up being a beast was Musin Muhammad. his stats are kinda like Legettes in college in that he didnt really do much until his last year in college. Even Steve Smith wasn't insane in college but had over 20 yards per reception in his limited time at Utah. That stands out. DJ moore had DECENT college stats and ended up being good in the NFL. So that ones kind of a wash. The main trend is, Panthers almost never draft WRs that have overwhelmingly great stats in college. I can not find one WR in their modern drafting history that fits that profile. Puka Nakua had pretty mediocre college stats. I didnt watch him play so maybe the Rams staff were just using the eye test there and saw his toughness and thought it would translate to the nfl. DJ Moore + Steve Smith were the closest we ever came to this kind of a WR pick.

From what I remember Kupp was very good in college but didnt play at a big school. Not sure about Nakua honestly. Kupp had incredible college stats only knock on him was that he went to a small school at Eastern Washington . In hindsight, he shouldve went very high in his draft just based on production alone. Kupps college Stats: Games/ Rec/ RecPG/ RecYds / YDpR/ Total TDs Career 52 428 8.2 6,464 15.1 73 Cooper Kupp had one of the greatest college careers from a wide receiver in FCS history. Starting with his true freshman season, Kupp dominated the competition setting school, conference and FCS records. He won the top FCS offensive honor, the Walter Payton Award in 2015 to go along with his 30 career first-team All-American honors.
