Coker is a stud. Hopefully Bryce will realize that Saturday.

Agreed they are not. The real question is, if he can do it on 4th downs, why isn't he doing it on other downs. Crazy.

Bryce Young NFL NGS Throwing Breakdown '23-'25
cranky replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
To address your comment on him "stepped away from Football", I can see how it would look like he is not dedicated but that first season was pretty brutal. His HC never wanted him, then he was fired so he had to work with an interim coach as well as listen to the 15 other coaching gurus Tepper brought in that year, on what to do. He didn't have any real receivers to work with and half the fans hated him from the get go simply because he was small. That's pretty tough. With his dad being a therapist, I could see him telling Young to simply step away for a bit to get recharged. I realize I may be reading "excuses" in but I have a hard time believing that anyone who has played that position at an extremely high level for all their life, didn't do so without some serious dedication to the craft. -

He did well with those anticipation throws when working with AT who was more of a finesse route runner. TMac isn't that yet. I've watched his footwork and his tendency to "jump" when passing. Yeah, I don't think that will ever change simply because he has to do that. Kurt Warner has an episode on Young against the Bucs and he makes the same critiques you are making concerning his footwork. When I watched his film, what I saw was Bryce "jumping" when he had a defender directly in his face - or at least in close proximity to him. When he was throwing through a gap with a clear line of site, his footwork was fine. I would guess he has developed that trait to overcome his height limitations. Kind of like a survival technic. He had to either learn how to work around the height discrepancies or not play. Getting on his toes give's him a couple of inches. I don't think he will ever have "proper" footwork simply because it does not work at his height. -

I am not saying that at all. My point is you have a relatively new QB with a relatively new HC. The only veteran presence he had was AT and he lost him at the beginning of the season. He also lost Coker. Young is limited by his physical nature but makes up for it by anticipating routes and throwing receivers to a spot. AT was very good at that. Like Young, he isn't gifted physically but he knew how to find the openings and could be at the spot Young anticipated. That is why they were so good together. I also am not saying AT is better than TMac. TMac is a stud and could wind up being the best receiver the Panthers have ever had. But this is his first year in the NFL and right now he is relying on his physical traits more than experience/knowledge. As he and Young get more experience together, I think you will see his completion % increase and with that you will see Youngs' number improve. Will they ever improve enough to satisfy those around here who don't like him, I doubt it. But I think they could improve enough to be a viable QB for some NFL team, whether here or someplace else. And finally, I strongly disagree with him not being dedicated. Not really sure where that comes from. -

AT played the last seven games of the season and out of those seven, Bryce had 5 of his best games for the year. You stated Bryces' best performance was in 24 and he looked more confident then. I agree. He seems to have lost some confidence and performace - he also lost his best receiver and the only receiver with any experience. I can't help but think the two are related. No doubt I am disappointed in his performance this year. He has regressed. I just think the receiving corps he has to work with can explain some of that regression. -

Adam Thielen averaged 12.8 yds/rec, 61.5 yds/game and had a catch rate of 77.4% in 24. Tmac has played well and will be a stud but he is just a rookie and while he has good numbers, his catch rate is only 57.4%. Losing Thielen was more of a loss than most people realize. Young's numbers should improve with TMac and Coker getting experience but that will take time which most people around here do not have so he may be gone before that ever happens. -
As I have already posted, we will not win if we go in with the same game plan as the last time and agree with everything you said. I just don't understand how the original post addresses any of that. All he did was post numbers illustrating how poor the offense has performed which everyone is already aware of.
-
But you are right. I shouldn't be here if I don't have anything constructive to say so I am out.
-
Gotcha. So when can we expect your Defense and Special teams evaluations. Hopefully you can get to that before the weekend.
-
I didn't start the post - you did. I just questioned why.

Says the person who calls me a "fugin dumbass" and "dipshit" simply because I do not agree with him.
-
I guess I stand corrected. You are enjoying yourself as you whine about how bad the offense is. Sorry. My bad.
-
We win the NFC South and you post about how bad the offense is. I'm not argueing that you aren't correct with the numbers. I just don't understand why you can't wait until after the playoffs to bring all of that up. There will be plenty of time in the offseason.
