  1. Purdy only passed for 127 yards week 18 and then only passed for 108 yards in the playoffs. In those two games he had 0 TD's and 2 INT's and a fumble. Mayes in the Superbowl had a total of 63 yards with 0 TDS at the 13 minute mark in the fourth quarter. He only had success when the Seahawks went into prevent defense. Philip Rivers only had 127 total yards in week 15. Boomer with the Vikings had 126 yards and 4 INTS in week 13. Cousins had 167 yrds week 14 and while it was over 150 yards, he also had 2 INTs with 0 TDs. Yeah Young didn't have a good game but neither did any of these other QBs. And while he had the lowest yardage, he was the only other QB that at least had a TD - Philips had the other.
  2. Young's rookie year was 2023. Canales was hired in 2024. In 2023 Young had Thielen, Mingo, Chark, Shenault, Tremble and Hurst to throw to. His gaurds were Zavala and Jensen. And you are correct that they had a 1000 yard receiver. But Theilen was a 32 year old receiver at the time so everyone knew he would need to be replaced fairly soon. Regardless, I'm not sure how you can believe those guys didn't need to be upgraded - regardless of who the QB was/is.
  3. When Canales/Morgan took over, the team had the least amount of talent of any team in the NFL. There were no receivers or TE's to speak of, the O-line was made up mainly of practice squad player and the defense had DB and Horn - everyone else was JAG. Morgan didn't invest the resources just to guarantee Young's success. These were investments needed regardless who the QB was/is. Not sure why everyone keeps "blaming" Young for investing in talent.
  4. I can only think of a few QB's worth 50M and while I am a Young supporter, he is not one of them. But then, I think the QB position has become over valued. Everyone's looking for the next Brady and MaHomes and paying as if they have found them. I think Seattle and Phily has shown you don't need 50M QBs to win ( and I am aware Hurts is a 50M QB. I just think they won with a running game and defense more than with his arm).
  5. Young played the Seahawks in week 17, Purdy played them the following week (18) and then again two weeks later in the Playoffs. And maybe he was injured earlier in the season but the week prior to the Seahawks game, he passed for 330 yards with 3 TDs and an INT against the Bears. ...just saying.
  6. It really depends on the cost of the extension. Expectations change significantly depending upon the price. What I would need to see to sign him to 55M per year is a lot different than what I would need to see to sign him to 35M.
  7. Brock Purdy played the Seahawks twice right after Youngs' game and averaged 145 yards (passing and rushing) with 0 TD's, 2 INT's and a fumble in those two games. So he had around 60 more total yards per game but Young did at least have one TD. Purdy makes 53M a year. So what is Purdy's fair market value?
  8. Not sure it makes sense given they have the Saints at 7 and Shough was actually pretty good last year
  9. Bears W Lions L Bengals L Seattle L Broncos L Green Bay W Browns W Steelers W Philly W 4-2 in the division Panthers go 9-8 and win the division again. Bucs lose to Dallas and the Chargers Atlanta loses to KC and the Commanders NO loses to NY but beats the Raiders
  10. And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
  11. Rico walking is no big deal. I'll take a healthy 2024 Hubbard over Rico any time and losing Mays is, again, no a big deal. Young is signed for what, $35M for the next two years? Say he wants $50M but the FO doesn't. If they put the franchise tag on him, that would be around $55? So basically they are getting Young for the next 3 years for an average of $30M per year. Putting the franchise tag on him wouldn't be my first choice but it gives them an option that wouldn't be locking him into a long term, $50M contract. I'm not suggestion they do that. Just that the option will be there should they get to that point. Hunt is on a 5 year deal which is done in 28 so he either restructures or is gone anyway. Moton will be 35 by then and will either be gone or have diminished playing time. Neither of those players has anything to do with getting Young a contract. The O line is way overpaid anyway. Hopefully by the time they are gone, Freeling and Hecht will be developed and Ickey will be healthy. Young was benched his second year and only got his job back because Dalton was injured. Not sure how you can call that entitled. And I would NOT say putting a rookie QB on a team with no receivers, tight ends or O lineman and then being put with a coach who never wanted you and is fired mid season, is a definition of luck. As far as competition, no team is going to bring in competition for a QB picked first overall - especially given the capital that was given up to get him.
  12. I just read "either" as implying he wouldn't be able to win in the NFL but whatever
  13. Lawrence was way overpaid. True about QB comparisons. I was just pointing out having a pro bowl roster doesn't mean a QB is a failure if they don't win it all.
  14. Ok...let's be accurate. Here is the complete paragraph. "If you plug Bryce onto the Pro Bowl roster you might have a chance to compete for a SB. If he's surrounded by top tier talent with a top tier defense on the other side, a field flipping punter, and a kicker good from 60+ you might have a chance. But that means you basically have to recreate Saban's Bama in the NFL and that's impossible... and Bryce couldn't win a championship in that environment either." Two or three? There were 2 pro bowlers on the OL, a TE pro bowler (Olsen) and a running back pro bowler (Stewart) so that's 4 on offense alone - not 2 or 3. On defense you had Short, Davis, Kuechly and Norman all pro bowlers. Thats' 8 starting pro bowlers on the 2015 roster. So yeah, I would say that was a pro bowl roster. So yes, please, let's be accurate.
  15. I simply responded to your post - paragraph by paragraph. The bottom line is, you think Young has had more talent to work with than Newton. I disagree. I posted all the talent each had to work with their rookie years and you still stated Newton had less talent. Again, I disagree. You said his OL in 2015 was trash. I pointed out there were two pro bowlers on it and while Micahael Oher wasn't a pro bowler, he was far from trash so again, disagree. You forgot to mention Olsen played that year, another pro bowler as well, so I reminded you he played as well as Stewart (another pro bowler who according to you only got there because of Newton). The inital post was in response to the statement Young couldn't win a SB even with a roter of Pro Bowlers. I simply pointed out that Newton couldn't either. That doesn't diminish how good Newton was - just pointing out that wasn't a good comparison.
