Agreed, although I do think some will go to Coker, at least at first. Hopefully, they can work Sanders in as well. One of the the things I liked about the last few games of last season is that I thought that Young and the offense did a pretty good job of spreading the ball amongst the receivers. Against Atlanta for example, there was no true number one target. We had 7 guys with 3 or more catches, and that is when an offense works best imo.

I thought he started to develop good chemistry with Coker over the last half of the season.

In fairness, AT missed several games last season. And so did Bryce. One would have to look specifically at games both of them played in to be accurate. Just looking at the last two games, XL had 14 targets, Thielen 12 and Coker 9, so at least for the last two games, your assessment appears to be correct.

Former RB Mike Davis on Rhule and CMC
Davidson Deac II replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have read here numerous times that CMC didn't want to be traded, at least not at first. All the conflicting information that he wanted to go, or that he was made when they traded him is why I usually ignore most of that stuff. -
Not that concerned about an appendix.

I don't really care so much about the 4th round pick. The Cap space savings is a bigger benefit.

For me, the first red flag was saying that it would be a five year rebuild. Then cutting Cam, and then inexplicably signing Bridgewater for a significant amount of money, basically saying that just because we were in a five year rebuild didn't me we couldn't win now. All before he coached a single game. That whole thing was just baffling. Better to just stick with Cam for his final year, see if his arm had anything left and if not, draft someone else. -
Not that I really believe any of them, but I trust Canales more than I do some random guy on x. And whatever desires Thielen had, it would be unprofessional to express those desires to his current employer. That being said, I have no doubt that Theilen is glad to be going back to the place where he started, and maybe to a contender. And his family spent a long time there, and probably like the place.

We are just clearing Cap Space to sign Micah Parsons.

My guess is they will go defense, safely or linebacker.

We had 7 receivers, now we have 6. So they wouldnt need to add anyone.

Panthers possibly trading Thielen?
Davidson Deac II replied to philit99's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am fairly certain he didn't -
Those guys were great, especially Smith. Smith especially excelled at catching the ball and controlling his body at the same time (I remember a toe tapping sideline catch against the Bears that was just amazing), or getting open and burning the defender. I just think that in terms of just coming down with the ball, Thielen is probably the best I have seen in a Panthers uniform. If Tmac and Coker can continue to improve, Thielen then I imagine Thielen will get weaker coverage against him, and it will help him even more. Might get fewer catches, but more YPC.

Don't care about Cherelus, but in terms of Brown vs Simmons, we certainly made the right choice.
-
I am not that surprised. His health issues have been significant. It was between him, Horn and Moore, and I guess the coach decided to go with younger/healthier.
-
We have never had a receiver that is better at actually catching the ball than Thielen. He may be older and not as fast as he once was, but no one can legitimately say he can't catch. I think Coker and Sanders are pretty good at it as well.

I disagree. Anytime you have a qb (especially a young one)in sync with a specific receiver, its a good thing. You just have to hope eventually, they get in sync with the others as well. -
Josina Anderson: Panthers NOT trading Adam Thielen

Paying his salary would take a first IMO. And since there is no chance of that happening, he will remain a Panther.
