No chance in hell they yank him. He should start. Cam started week 1. So did Peyton Manning and most other number 1’pick QBs. Knowing the offense and playbook obviously won’t be a problem

At this point in time, who feels like we lost this trade?
poorboysrev replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’d say compared to what the Niners gave the Phins to move up to 3 for Lance and other similar deals it was a great trade for us. We gave up a 1, two 2’s, and a borderline number 1 WR that yes has potential to be better with better QB play than he got here but let’s not act like we gave up Davante Adams or Tyreek Hill. The number 9 pick was a swap for the number 1 so I don’t consider that giving them an extra 1st rder, semantics but annoys the piss out of me when the nfl “analysts” don’t make that distinction. Any high pick QB in the draft or big money free agent QB( ie Russel Wilson) comes with risk. Aaron Rodgers to the Jets has a BIG chance of getting that whole front office and staff fired with one injury. Any QB taken in the top ten generally gets 3 years minimum to pan out. Im not a college football fan but everything I’m seeing from Bryce looks like he’s special. IF it doesn’t pan out we’re back to our full complement of picks by the time that 3 years is up and I like that they staggered the picks so it’s not like we don’t have ammunition to add WR’s for him. I personally think between TMJ, Mingo, and even Chark( some freak injury stuff but he’s shown elite ability with lesser tier QBs) someone is going to breakout. It helps that we seem to have staff that will actually scheme our weapons open…I know something Carolina fans aren’t used to seeing but seems to work great for the Andy Reid’s, Sean Payton’s and Mcveigh’s of the league. Time will tell but I’m jacked that we swung for the fences here…I think we’re taking the division this year. I’m not afraid of any Bowles or Dennis Allen led team. I think Atlanta will be biggest competition but will run into the same problem we did trying to go with big, slow wrs except they’ve got Ridder instead of Cam. I get you’re just making conversation so no worries there man. The folks acting like we got fleeced like Ditka for Ricky Williams need to stop snorting lines with their espresso ha -
Right, can’t play scared. Draft the guy you feel best about, support him with personnel, scheme, and coaching and let’s see if he’s got that. I do feel like this staff seems more capable of that than the last time we had the number 1 pick but they still gotta land the right guy..point blank it’s just hard to to know who that guy is otherwise the mahomes’, Allen’s, Brady’s would’ve been drafted number 1

Barry was healthy when he retired. He retired because he was tired of playing for the Lions and they refused to trade him. #facts ha

Boyyyyyy!!!!

I’d prefer someone that can take the top off the defense to open up everything else
-
Yeah I don’t get the problem if you trade a pick for a good player..when what you’re trying to do in the draft is use the pick to draft a good player. Were people pissed when we traded the 3rd rder for Olsen?
-
Hell yeah.. I think a very overlooked part is our coaching staff vs the Saints. Dennis Allen has always looked like shitake as a head coach. Dude looks like a total prick.

I like idea of a vet TE with a rookie QB….wouldn’t have minded Schultz until I saw those 2 huge mental errors at the end of Dallas’ playoff game. Might be putting too much on that but football IQ especially in big moments matters. I haven’t watched Gesicke much at all but maybe he’d make an Olsen-ish jump for us
-
So then, we’ve got a WR corps to build. What do y’all got?
poorboysrev replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Right…they’re not doing all this to finally get a QB and not surround him with weapons -
Folks are off their meds tonight. I love DJ but much easier to find a WR then a QB or an edge runner. We gave up 1 first rder to get the first pick in the draft. Of course you have to give up something to get something

There was no reason to get hyped over 80% of Rhule’s staff ha

Makes it kinda hard to negotiate when the guy with the sayso is telling you to make it happen.

Joe Person on possible coordinator candidates

Once again, fug Sean Payton -
The over/wrong use of the word literally could not be illustrated better It’s probably more likely that good defenses can commit enough guys to stop the run AND defend against the 150 yds Darnold is attacking you with through the air

Right…I mean look how easy it’s been for us to replace our franchise QB…they grow on trees ha. It usually sets any franchise back. I don’t see how he could be blamed for that. Teams were poaching people from his staff so that says something..Buffalo’s the last team to poach any of our coaches his last 3 QBs were retreads, hopefully he’s seen enough of that

People seem to be sleeping on Mike Kafka as a candidate
poorboysrev replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also means he’ll know and have relationships with possible assistant coaches on good teams, from good coaching trees when it comes to staff hires -
Right..great coaching tree he’s gotten to learn from and just the eye test of watching the giants offense
-
I know folks are impatient but I’d like to see them at least interview Kafka
-
For those who ARE interested in Sean Payton...

fug the taints and the gators they rode in on -
I’m just curious on what folks think they should/ could have done to tank…players aren’t just going to pitch the ball on the ground. We traded our best player and had a circus of bad to barely ok at QB. It’s not like they brought in free agents or anything. The only way to keep losing at that clip was to not fire Rhule and that mofo needed to get his stink out of the building. If we’d traded burns maybe that costs a couple more wins but our division was historically bad. Just think it’s fantasy to think a coach and staff that know their most likely out of here aren’t going to try and show they’re better than they looked under the hamburglar. Players too…what you gonna do “hey guys half ass it and lay the ball on the ground every chance you get and make sure you never get another shot on a roster”. Just not realistic. We have a lot of good pieces on the roster. The right coach can figure out how to use them and what pieces we need to add. “But we don’t have a top 3 pick” is not a valid excuse at all.
