  1. Copperheads are pretty chill for a poisonous snake. I've run into them many times. I've lifted logs only to find one there and they just left. The first few times I saw them they made me piss myself. then i got used to them. I'd actually rather run into one of them than a black racer. Nonpoisonous, but super aggressive. I've been chased by a few of them. One time I had one i was trying to avoid come up on my mower. But copperheads should be respected for sure but if you can keep your dogs under control and don't step on them they'll show no interest in you. Fwiw, the last time I encountered one I was hiking with the family. My daughters were up ahead of us by maybe 15 yards and I wasn't really paying attention and apparently they weren't either, but I saw a copperhead crossing the path right behind them. It was close enough that they could have stepped over it thinking it was a branch. That was a bit freaky, but also points the the fact that copperheads really just don't care. You have to work to get those things mad enough to bite you.
  2. i think if i wasn't getting laid off in a few weeks i would probably be more engaged. i just don't have room in my head for the kind of poo we've got going on. seriously, it would have helped me out if we could have this one year where we didn't suck just to give me something to look forward to. now it's just another negative thing i've got going on. i'd really just not bother with it anymore.
  3. i think i'm finally over it. i didn't watch yesterday. had absolutely NO interest in watching. completely forgot about it actually. my wife said "isn't there a panthers game today?" "yeah. first game of the season." "what time does it start?" "1:00. what time is it now?" "2" "oh well" saw they lost. didn't care. not even curious anymore. i think preseason showed me enough. if they miraculously turn it around...maybe i'll get a little interested, but i think Sundays are going to be panther free for me for a while. i really just don't care anymore. apathy has completely set in.
  4. i was sure i had heard her somewhere else before. it was what she was/is doing with Nancy Wilson.
  5. i watch these different tv shows with my kids all the way through. One of my daughters and i are on our second run through Bones and one of the episodes had one song being played and i said "that sounds like Patty Griffin" which it was. Such an incredible talent. Her debut record was one of the most memorable for me in the 90s. Probably that one and Jeff Buckley were the two i can remember the most listening to for the first time. Blown away from both. Patty Griffin's debut is a simple but incredibly passionate work of art. What is really cool was the story behind how it got released. https://scottsm589.medium.com/a-shout-from-the-heart-patty-griffins-living-with-ghosts-304dcde3ee07
  6. He's 32 years old so he's been around a little while. Definitely enough to see some stuff that isn't right. Not sure if you've ever seen any of his earlier stuff with his old band. Dude could rock. Seems no matter what genre his music is in, he's always from an earlier one. Fits well with 90s grunge/alt stuff with his band and his solo stuff is definitely harkening back to late 50s-60s Seeger/Guthrie/Dylan stuff.
  7. and the revolution will not be televised is one of the greatest media moments ever.
  8. been listening to a lot of Pete Seeger, Woodie and Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and Jesse Wells lately. Jesse is something else. i love it. Odetta and Richie Havens are part of my rotation pretty frequently as well. didn't know about Father John Misty. checking him out now.
  9. No idea. I remember though that mods could change people's names at one point. I might have had some fun with that.
  10. #1 thing i would do if i had the money...hire a driver. i'd rather be able to spend my time doing other things. when i retire, i thought about buying a camper, but i think i would want someone to drive it for me. i want to be able to relax. driving those things around wouldn't do it.
  11. yeah, lendale white and chris johnson (4.24). they had that name cornered before we williams and stewart could take it. so they went with double trouble. i think what the titans had going on with those two fit thunder and lightning better...that year anyways. then lendale stopped drinking tequila, lost weight, and fizzled out.
  12. i totally ripped off the intro to this song in a song i wrote with a band i was in back the 90s. it was always fun finding someone who caught it when we played it live.
  13. i love coverdale...but he wasn't one of the guys you remember glen hughes and ian gillan are it for me there. more partial to ian gillan for some reason. and ELP...never got to see them live, but i've watched a lot of their live performances. had several VCR tapes of their shows back in the day. keith emerson was a mad man. the abuse he gave that poor organ. and that piano spinning thing? wow i couldn't pick out a favorite elp song. i love way too many of them. forced to choose it might be karn evil #9. or lucky man. or still...you turn me on, or hoedown, or fanfare for the common man, or trilogy. or tarkus. or from the beginning.
  14. that california jam would have been such a good bunch of shows to see and wow what a mix. you don't get much more diverse than black sabbath, ELP, EW&F, and seals and kroft. what a variety. eagles and deep purple would have been great to see back then as well. who was singing for deep purple back then? was it Coverdale?
  15. a lot of people either want me or want to be me. i'm legendary. legen....dary
  16. i don't know...i'm kind of done with him. if he retires and comes back here and hangs around, cool. if not. i don't know. he's playing for another team, if they're with another team, i got no use for them. they are out of my orbit.
  17. i hid the douchebag comments and deserved retaliation.
