Wait so the players who out produces him weren't?
All I want is someone to say what the differentiating factor was between odell and those other players who performed better than him. This isn't about worthiness, it's about reasoning.
Please do be so kind as to take the courageous step of what that differentiating factor was rather than turning tail and hiding from it as the others have.
Which player out performed him? He had the highest receiving yards per game of ANY PLAYER in the league. If he had played all 16 games he would have had MORE RECEIVING YARDS than any player in the league. As a rookie.
"Yeh but he was injured, his fault, herp derp....
He had Eli Manning throwing to him, not Luck, Payton, Rodgers, Big Ben. By game 3 he was being double covered. By game 6 he was being triple covered.
Is that enough of a differentiating factor?

Lol "I can't believe I've actually gotta remind people that this guy is the GOAT. He's legendary. Didn't you see that catch?"
Forgive the rest of us for not being hype train sheep.
"Haha look at all these suckers getting excited about the most exciting receiving talent since GOAT Randy Moss'
Man I hate hipsters.
-
"guys it's just because he's so gosh darn amazing that catch has nothing to do with the cover"
lol
I can't believe I'm having to post OBJs highlights to explain to any NFL fan why analysts think he could be a future HOFer after his rookie year.
Yes the catch helped make him a household name so casual fans know who he is. But anyone with an NFL brain should be able to see how talented this guy is.
I would go as far as to say if I could choose any NFL player on the Panthers it would be Rodgers, Watt or OBJ.
-
Talented yes overrated yes looking at garbage time which honestly doesn't count other than boosting your stats is when he got most of his yardage and scores against mediocre teams mind you once Cruz is back those numbers will deflate and the competition will bring him down to earth he's good but I still think we had offensive rookie of the year who had multiple highlight reel catches
This is a silly post by someone who didn't watch OBJ much last year.

Call me a homer but Arizona 2011 - the introduction of Cam always sticks in my mind. After 2010, watching Cam gave me hope again.

My question to you is, if he puts up the same type of numbers this year as last, then what? Eventually the excuses have to run out to fans like yourself. I think he is just the way he is. Do I hope I'm wrong? fug yes I do. But what you see is what you get with Cam in my opinion. What we see is good, but not great, and sometimes horrible at times.
Dude what are you talking about? Have a look at the stats, asking him to do more is asking him to be more productive than any other QB in history across their first 4 seasons.
Just tell me which QB would have done more last season with our offensive line and receiver situation. I'd put my house on the line that Cam will be MUCH improved over last season.

Some players you have to do that with. Sadly, it seems Cam would excel in that.
This is just wrong, no huddle helps the Oline more than it helps Cam, which obviously gives Cam more time to throw. It's not like you have to run no huddle for Cam to put up numbers.
-
I know at least last season Luck's WR were I think top three in drops whereas Cam's were around 21. That may factor in.
In terms of numbers that's completely believable Luck has unnaturally high attempts per game. Thing that stands out to me is how much of our offence goes through Cam compared to Wilson and Kaep. Higher in both passing and rushing.
-
His passing stats don't accurately represent his ability. This year will be a really big year for Cam with KB and now Funch as well as the o-line upgraded (though still weak). This is easily the most talent around him since his rookie year, if not better than then.
Take a look at Cams completion percentage vs Lucks. Cam has a better completion percentage but much lower passing average. Obviously if you feed luck and surround him with receiving talent he's going to have better passing numbers. BUT it's not a reflection of accuracy.

That must've been one laborious task, my man.
Ha, wasn't too bad. Stats are pretty easy to pull out and then a couple of pivots in Excel. I made sure I ran all the formulas at the end because I didn't want to know what the final stats looked like. Turns out our boy has put up some serious numbers.

People have been asking for it, so here are Cam's 4 year stats vs all other starting QBs in the league at the same point.
Couple of notes:
All stats are from NFL.com. Most were downloaded directly but some were manually so let me know if you spot any mistakes.
All Stats were taken from the first 4 years that the QB started 10 games or more. Rodgers didn't start 10 games until year 4 so his stats are from seasons 4 to 7.
I've ranked on Average combined yards per game, in my view the most relevant stat for QB value. The arrows show which 33rd percentile the QB ranks in for each stat.
Kaepernick, Luck and Wilson are compared against Cam's first 3 seasons.
Hopefully this helps people make their own minds up about Cams value because a) it's clear he's had one of the most productive first 4 years of any QB in history and it took bloody ages to put together.

Like someone else said, what's the point of signing all these high character vets if with no one to mentor?
They have young + hungry players who are 1-2 years in the league to mentor. I doubt nannying a diva who doesn't want to play special teams is what guys like Peanut, TD and Olsen want to be focusing on.

QFMBAFLBSTRUTHI love the Huddle...
Pre-Draft: "Watch Gettleman take a pass rusher and ignore the holes on offense."
Post-Draft: "We're thin at defensive end!"

Fug all the guys that don't want to be with our Panthers. Their fugging loss.
-
My point is fairly simple. People rejoiced he wasn't the father. But that's nOT the only aspect to question.
Oh someone should probably tell the police that that might not be the only thing to consider...

Gofundme? Seriously? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I'm not giving money to someone who's going to be in the NFL. I don't care what kind of contract he'll get as an UDFA, it's damn sure more than what I make.
Calm down Geldof, the money's going to a charity of their choice.

Lol Dave loves his linebackers.

Very sorry, Sgt. I have today and Friday off. I am going to have grilled chicken thighs with Barbeque sauce on some, buffalo sauce on the others, corn on the cob, and some shrimp with cocktail sauce. Not complex, but it makes a subtle statement.
Of course, the sauce could change to Texas PEAT or I could add steak for SCHERFF and Turf. Maybe some fried FISHer with some WHITE wine. Either way, a bouquet of FLOWERS for the table.
I won't do that again.

I don't understand why players would want to risk loosing their jobs by smoking pot. I mean your taking a huge risk and if your going to be drafted geting caught could cost you millions of dollars.
This is a relative cool down period for draft prospects, after all the lead up and work out for the combine and pro days and before all the work that comes when you get picked up by a team. Its kind of like that period after exams and before results come out. I empathize with the guys wanting to kick back (mainly because I must have smoked away a few pounds after my uni exams), but getting caught with weed on you in public at this time is just bad decision making.

you're thinking of Landon Collins, he's a sub-par athlete that gets roasted in coverage. Shaq is a great athlete that excels in coverage
Jordan Plocher @ StarvingScout
Washington Huskies OLB Shaq Thompson is so good in
coverage that he eliminates Tight End production or he can do
this (posted youtube of a Shaq Pick 6)

Shaq Thompson... a rare athlete in coverage + range.
Doug Kyed @ DougKyedNESN
Watching Shaq Thompson closely. ... he'll enter the NFL as the league's best coverage LB.
NFL_DRAFT_Bites @ NFLDraftBites
-Shaq Thompson 's position question overblown. He's a WLB
plays all 3 downs & is exceptional in coverage. LOVE his fit Mike
Zimmer's Vikings
-Shaq Thompsonis a Prototypical WiLL flows to ball w/ exceptional speed. Will be incredible in coverage
Good point, remember that was the criticism of Collins rather than Shaq. Feel good on Shaq for Thursday, I had him quite high on my 1st round draft board last week but he should be rising as Shane Ray and Landon Collins slide.

I keep hearing Thompson struggles in coverage and was completely schooled a couple of times vs shifty slot receivers in school. Is this likely to be a problem given we use TD to nullify TEs whenever we face NO, NE and Seattle?
That Other Panther Receiver....Jarrett Boykin
in Carolina Panthers

Ignore this, Boykin put most of his numbers up with GBs second and third string QBs.
