Either way they're sitting great, largely thanks to us. Fields would likely get them some pretty decent trade value if they want to move on.

Sucks to be Caleb. Getting drafted by the Bears at QB is brutal.

Not a bad situation for Caleb. Not really,  the FO is killing every off season. Roster will be young and full of high picks. DJ Moore is legit and they can add another potential top tier WR at 9. He is being drafted into a solid rebuild.

  2. Goal was to make the team more physical. Kingsley could fit either guard or maybe even LT. Sweat is a old school massive NT. Allen is a bruiser RB.  I think a two headed monster running game could help Young. Then weapons. Coker has outside WR speed and size. Theo and Jackson could work the middle of the field. Screenshot_20240216-215355.thumb.png.684cb53fb29d29cef738d2c9fea2cf16.png

  3. I vote crazy.  We need to improve depth and upgrade. Shuffling the line makes sense. Try BC at LT, slide Iky over to guard and Center should be a target in the draft. If Jackson-Powers is there at 33 I would take him over WR even. I don't think he will be though. Dream scenario for me is a trade down from 33 to somewhere in between 40 to 48 gaining a pick around 69 and 76.

With those picks and 65 adding say a Van Pran, Mahogany and WR. Then at 101 TE or double dip at WR. Offense needs a lot of help.

Watch Ricky Pearsall. He's running the best routes at the Senior Bowl practices. I just hope his draft stock doesn't rise too much & he can be had by the 3rd/4th round.

It's a varied group of WR's.  Their are several skill sets, strengths and styles.  Also a couple athletic freaks.  Pearsall seems like a Keenan Allen comparison.  Or new school St Brown.  We need to throw two darts at that draft board. Fingers crossed Tez and Pearsall would be a good combo.

  5. Nothing is written in stone.  E is obviously an up and coming coach but after this past year I would not be surprised if he wants to jump ship. I'd like to keep him and keep Luvu and Brown long term. Sticking with the 3-4 and adding pieces to that. Luvu should be a pass rushing edge style linebacker instead of the inside he was forced into by injuries. Brown as a DE beside a legit NT also would be interesting. So NT and a DE that fits a 3-4 would be targets.  I would not be opposed to going to a 4-3 if we lose Envero, Luvu and Burns in the off season actually.  I don't know what coach would be available. If we switch defensive schemes (again) then the draft strategy switches to adding a MLB, a pass rushing DT beside Brown and a pass rusher at DE to replace Burns.  I'd rather stay the course with E but...

  6. Watched a bit of the drills today. Oline is of particular interest.  As well as sleeper WR prospects need to be watched. Stocks will rise and fall cause of these showcases. I just hope we have competent talent evaluators there to take notes.

  7. Somebody needed to write a piece. Silly off season fluff.  No different than me posting on here except this guy gets paid to do so.  Sadly I can't see a team giving us a 1st for Burns. We have NO leverage. He doesn't want to be here and Fitterer screwed negotiations up. At this point a 2nd round pick is the goal. Trade down from 33 hoping someone has a hard on for a QB and a draft day trade of Burns for another 2nd is my dream.  The top 100 picks is the meat of this draft ( it often is ) we need multiple picks in this area and rebuild the roster.  Our pick at 101 is not bad either. If a situation arises where we can group our later rounds together for a higher pick is an option too.  Burns is not a raven. A Ram maybe. A Viking maybe. But the Ravens can't really think he would move the needle.  He didn't do it here either.

  8. Trade down to acquire more picks and In this scenario we tag and trade Burns to Minnesota for the 42nd pick and guess who was there in this draft? Cooper Beebe. Dude, Powers and Cooper could help rebuild the oline quickly. Sweat and Robinson are pieces for the 3-4.Screenshot_20240131-142032.thumb.png.75ec2e4fa3f103ed3734a75eef4b2fe5.png

At the end of the day, pass rushers are one of the most valued assets in the league after QB.

That being said, I can't imagine he wants to be here, reports aside.  If he really did, something would have been worked out last July when we gave him the initial offer to jumpstart talks.

There's plenty of teams willing to pay for his services.

3 paths here (correct me if you think I'm wrong):

    • The Peppers: He doesn't sign a deal, we don't tag him, he signs elsewhere, we receive comps (hopefully, eventually)
    • The Trade: He doesn't sign a deal, we tag him, we trade him at some point
    • The Unlikely: He signs/stays on with a new contract

I feel like we just have to do what we can to get something in return.  It will probably end up a 2nd/4th type combo.

I'm hoping we can get either a 2nd this year and future 2nd or 3rd.

Or maybe a player and later pick. If Cinci would be willing to trade Higgins and a 3rd or 4th this year it would be enticing.  Getting Higgins would open up that 33 pick for something other than WR.  Maybe a pass rusher.

  10. I'd like to see what BC can do at LT. Remember it was our previous genius coaches that moved him to guard then proceeded to draft Icky (whose run blocking not pass blocking was his best trait ) to play LT.  Just a thought. What if we can trade Burns for a mid 1st or even at this point a 2nd and future pick. I see Minnesota as trade partners.

They trade 42 and a future pick for Burns.  We go WR at 33. Then take a Powers- Johnson, Frazier or Van Pran at 42. Then turn around at 65 and take a guard.  Maybe a Mahogany, Kiran A, or Delmar Glaze. Just throwing prospects I like out there but we need to do a ridiculous amount of due diligence on improving the oline and WR room.

    LT - BC

    LG- Rookie, Boze or Icky

    OC - Rookie or Boze

RG - Rookie, Boze or Icky

    RT - Moton

Just move the pieces around till it fits. Boze can play guard. Want to try Icky at guard. BC might fit at tackle. Get a versatile rookie or two too.

Later rounds we try and find diamonds in the rough at WR and RB.  This a deep class for both those skill positions. In FA we add another WR. Hope Mingo puts it all together this year.  WR room Mingo, 2nd round Rookie, Mid tier FA, AT, Smith-Marsette and a later round rookie to develop.  Fixing this offense is priority. I know "but Young sucks" maybe not, maybe just maybe we need to overhaul the scheme and personnel to fit him.

  11. This is not a top heavy RB class but it's deep. I don't see 1st round guy.

WR I think we need two. RB one bigger guy to pound the rock on early downs. TE I like Tremble but we need someone to replace Hurst and Thomas. That's 4 picks in a depleted collection this year. So one WR needs to come from FA. That's three targets in the draft at skil.

  12. Blackshear, Miles and Chubba can handle some passes going they way. What I prefer is a bigger back we can rely on in short yardage. A bell cow with Chubba and Miles as change of pace guys. Along with that the oline needs to open some gaps.

  13. Impatient owner.  Impatient fans. Both are recipes for disaster. Should have just chilled at 9.  We needed to build the roster instead we depleted it by trading Moore and going all in on Young.   Taking BPA at 9 was the move.

Now you want us to scrap a rookie who was dropped into dysfunction. Baker,Teddy, and Darnold all failed here too. Maybe it's the organization not the player. The QB at 33 is not likely to succeed here either. JJ, Bo and Penix could all be reaches by the Falcons, Giants, Vikings and Broncos of the league. Bo could be Paytons replacement for Russ.  JJ could sit behind Danny Dimes and be Daboll's guy in the future. That leaves Penix who honestly along with the rest of the second tier guys is a 3rd round prospect but will be pushed to the top because of the premium value that QB's have. Scrap the number 1 ( Maybe he shouldn't have been) for the 4th best QB in a top heavy class, Yeah that makes sense.

    Some recent “fixes” :

    hurts

howd they get fixed? Teams traded for a true wr1. Then boom, magically the QBs went from bust to good. Crazy how that works

Is Higgins the answer?  Go big in FA and add a WR at 33. Then we have AT, Mingo, Higgins and a rookie. For sure better than what we trotted out this year.  We get lucky at 33 with a guy who catches on faster than Mingo and Tee as the numero uno.  I mean it's not outside the realm of possibility. And AT as the chain mover in the slot.

Ok sorry I’ll rephrase. They had a good running back. Are you happy?

holy crap people are on this board are miserable.

TB ran only to set up play action. And give Baker room to move the pocket. That could actually work with Young too.  I hope so. Being less predictable would be nice. Fact is though AT being our best weapon needs to change. Also love Chubba but that straight line with little wiggle don't work every down. We need to get a guy that can run outside too and cut through the lane and explode. So a faster and more explosive back is necessary. Chubba would be a amazing change of pace back but he ain't the one. It's a luxury pick but we need to catch lightning in the bottle at RB to offset our current ineptitude in the passing game. Big play WR, big play RB and better oline play needs to happen along with a huge leap by Young.  Then we might compete. Defense can't fall off at the same time. So yeah two year rebuild easy.

To be fair, that has to do more with Rachaad White than Canales. White is a great pass catching RB but not a great runner.

Tampa’s yards per attempt actually went up this year.

    2022 - 3.4 yards per attempt

    2023 - 3.6 yards per attempt

Played against somebody that had White in fantasy. Lots of carries and lots of pass plays going his way but only reason he got points was volume. Lots of negative rush plays but had volume.  In other words White ain't it. Neither is Chubba or Sanders but on paper that combo could be more productive than White. Personally I want to add another RB in the draft. I like Blackshear and he could honestly fit in a committee but if an upgrade is available at some point in the draft let's do it.
