I was about to post this exactly..but glad to see it jumped out of an otherwise reasonable list of complaints.

I just like Brady. I think he can be a solid role player in the league. We need players that just do their role and make other players better.

Good lord, Lamelo Ball is only the third player EVER to put up 3000 points, 1,000 assists, 1,000 rebounds by 22yrs old. The other 2 are Luka and Lebron. But yeah, let’s get rid of him! Y’all put the ESPN hot take chuckleheads to shame.

My takes are still better than them. I actually talk bout the Hornets.

You lost me at Brady Manek.

Brady is a glue guy. Plays smart team ball. Without him on the court UNC fell apart.  Know why? Cause it was a collection of talent with no glue.  Much like the Hornets some talent but don't play cohesively.

  4. It's all gambles.

Entire draft was a gamble. We passed on guys with less red flags to take gambles on others.

The Melo deal is also a gamble. Can he stay healthy and become a superstar?

I'm just not impressed by the moves. Free agency is looking like a gamble as well. All in on Bridges staying despite him and his agents being collectively known as idiots.

  5. Bridges playing hardball at the negotiating table despite being a PR nightmare.

Grant Williams got away cause we were distracted.

We let Brady Manek sign elsewhere.

PJ also likely to move on cause we focused on Bridges more.

Coaching is still bottom tier. No culture change here.  Sustained mediocrity.

Lastly we passed on a guy in the draft for a "better" fit. Then proceeded to draft guard and wing over and over again.

    Make it make sense.

  6. I bet ya Scoot dominates in his debut.  25 points and looks like he belongs.  We will see Friday.  That said now that Miller is a hornet, I hope he will develop but.  As my last hurray as a scoot train guy I'm gonna take the over on scoot scoring more than Miller in summer league debut.

This is just copium because he didn’t resign with them. The writer assumes Theilen’s our main target and doesn’t mention TMJ or Mingo at all.

Typical ex team talking down bout the one that got away. Minnesota could have still used him but they let him go.  Now he is trash according to their media. He is perfect for a rookie QB. Lots of third down clutch plays and sneaky TD's for him this year. Him and Hurst are the safety valves. Hopefully a healthy Chark, a developing TMJ and Mingo are the stars of the offense. I also think Mingo is meant to learn from and eventually replace Adam but as a bigger and younger slot.

  8. I'm torn. Theilen and Nuke would be the best WR tandem that I can remember in a long time us having but maybe a couple years too late. Adam and Nuke both got a bit of age on them. I think Adam will help the young guys but I worry another vet might take reps from our young guys.   I'd rather sign a corner with that money.

Of course he still has to adjust to game speed moments.

Why is it we can't talk about how good this kid is, without bringing him down?

Too much feel goods? You guys don't know how to handle that as Panther fans? Scared some short stack is going to be a better QB then Cam ever was?

    What is it?

The kid is thriving.  Which means no Matter how you look at it, he's going to be fun to watch come game time.

Maybe they never got off the CJ train. Pre draft they were a bunch of folks making short jokes and talking out they butts like Ace Ventura. Some but not all were likely Trolls but still talking out they butts. One more time BUTTS. Oh lastly  those people are arseholes.

Genuine question: what concerns you about his off the court situation? That there might be more to the story than what's come out? Returning the gun doesn't reflect poor judgement to me.

My concern is maturity. I do think there was some poor judgement also. Not real sure on the details but bringing a firearm to a bar is a bit dangerous. I mean damn if ya boy bout to get jumped or face a shoot out in the parking lot yeah we got you. But the victim being a girl wow.

Now this makes a lot more sense.

That's what I said. Build the roster without breaking the bank.  I am actually fine with Melo in the long term but see merit in moving on and reloading with Scoot. I also don't want to reward stupidity with Bridges.  I get it he is a talented young player but am not scared to move on and save money by trying to find a draft prospect to replace him. I think Miller is bunting instead of a grand slam. Scoot is the best player in the draft cause skinny big men from out of country are sucker bets.  Give me the generational talent.  Miller and his choice of friends scares me. I know he did nothing wrong right.  But we wouldn't be talking bout if he didnt do a LIL something.

  12. Not saying what will happen. But what should for the long term. Your likely right on the roster. I would be good with that. I'm just planning further in a future where Melo has not been given a max contract despite health issues and Bridges given a big contract despite  not being able to keep his nose clean.  People getting hung up on the particular player but I'm just for adding two mid tier guys who can help over gambling on Melo finally putting it all together.

Without Hayward and counting Ball at 32m, the hornets would have around 40-42m for signings in 2024.

Now take away the Ball contract.  We looking at 70 million to work with. A starting PG (scoot) a starting PF (Walker) a starting Center (williams) and only holes to fill at SG and SF.  Both those can be filled with the 27th pick and guys already on the squad. McGowens, Kai and others could be decent role and off the bench guys. I need a reset.  Melo is our McCaffrey. Great player but got the injury bug and we need to move on. Go wing at 27 and hope McGowens and a 2nd rounder can battle it out at the 2 till we can upgrade through FA. If it's me Bridges and Melo on the trade block.

I know it's a party of one. I'm good with Melo. I'm not cool with Bridges. He is a very talented wing but I kinda think his numbers were inflated by how the offense ran and the dreaded ( payday efforts)

Wings are a dime a dozen.  The really good ones are special but I guarantee Tatum and Brown aren't both getting paid in Boston. They gonna pick one. SF is a gamble position.  You take risks. And yes I would throw money at Demar and have Scoot, Derozen, Rookie or two, Walker and Williams as my core. Plus we got Hayward for next year so he can play small forward till the younger guys are ready.

  14. 2 hours ago, CamWhoaaCam said:

Why would you suggest trading for a 34 year old Derozan?smh

Not trading Melo For Derozen. Trading him for another 1st this year and a future 1st.  Saving the money he will likely want for FA when Derozen will be a FA. Cut ties with Bridges and Hayward within the next two years. No Ball payday = Big $$ for 2024 Free Agency.

Demar could be chasing a ring at his age but he could be just chasing a paycheck.

  15. It doesn't have to be "star" free agents.  We need to get mid tier guys or rising stars. Melo is a rising star but I am starting to doubt his ceiling. If he can't stay healthy and or his dad gets too involved in the process he could become a headache quick. We need to rebuild. If somehow We can field a young cheap core with better coaching then add key pieces in FA we could compete. Melo and Miller ain't it. Scoot and DeMar Rozen could be.

You the only one here looking like a casual fan. First you crying about everyone here wanting Scoot over Miller and now you wanna trade the pick for a fat ass Zion who can't even get on the court.  Last thing this team needs is another Hayward 120 million dollar contract for a guy to play 40 games.

Agreed. I'm actually not wanting to sign Melo or Bridges.  Hayward's contract comes off the books the following year.  We could do two max contracts that year. This draft build a cheap young core then see who is available that year.

Right but those antics are going to get better in Charlotte where we have players of our own beating up on the mother of their children or getting arrested in parking decks asleep at the wheel with a gun in their lap in their downtime?

That's why I'm suggesting a culture change.  Do we really want to negotiate a new deal with Melo with his Daddy in his ear?  Bridges has burned his.  Need to make some moves.

  18. 3 hours ago, carpanfan96 said:

Right now it would be for Ingram, another player and the 14th for the 2nd and Hayward if Charlotte bit on it. Think that's the only way it happens.

And I'm down. Moving on from Hayward is a step.  We need to take several steps in a different direction.

I know Miller is a great talent but recently I read where there are some issues with his game translating to the NBA.  I hope we take Scoot.

Here's a question for you diehard Hornet fans.  Do you take Scoot and package Melo in a trade?  Revamp the whole team based around Scoot.  I like Melo but I get this feeling that when his time is up here, he is going to want out of Charlotte.

    Thoughts

This is thinking outside the box. I like the idea of either pairing Melo with Scoot or Miller but a trade would revamp the team over night. Drop Bridges and use that money to resign Dennis and PJ. Heresy coming trade Melo to the pelicans for some picks. Maybe the 14th and a future 1st maybe or offload Hayward. We can dream. Get out from under the coming Melo, Bridges contracts and the anchor that has been Hayward's. Oh, and a new coach.

    So many walks.

They don't call that anymore.  They just want scoring. Pivot foot,  smivot foot did they score? Great play. Traveling all over, cool did they score?  I blame LaBron.  They changed how they officiate partly because of him. .

  21. Not exactly a 3 and D guy but I've started to like Jaime Jaquez Jr.  Don't let the Adam Morrison hair choice fool ya. Guy has heart and athletic.  Maybe never a Star but likely a plug and play wing. Could be long term replacement for Hayward.

This is depending of course on the earlier pick. As of right now I like Scoot and TrippleJ.  I think the other 2 second round picks will end up bargaining chips and or players we stash and never develop. It's the Hornets way. That said I would use the picks and build a young bench.
