  1. Ten years ago: washed every 2-3 times worn

Five years ago: washed every 4-5 times worn

Today: washed every 10-15 times worn

I don't get them dirty and bars are no longer filled with smoke so I don't have to wash them as frequently. Everything else is washed after one wearing, except for maybe a hoodie that gets worn when lounging around the house. But jeans - I've started taking the advice of the manufacturers.

  2. I'm confused, your comparing Cam whose going to his 5th year to a bunch of guys going into there sophomore years. If anything you just highlighted my point Cam's situation is so bad he's being compared to a bunch of rebuilding teams

Notice how you don't bring up Luck or Wilson

You were asserting that Cam is going to leave because he's going to look around and see that other teams are surrounding their young quarterbacks with talent and we aren't. Those are your words. I was simply providing a list of teams with young quarterbacks that do not appear to be making any effort to surround them with talent.

Young quarterback, not really adding talent at skill positions: Browns, Vikings, Titans, Raiders, and 49ers

Young quarterback, adding talent at skill positions: Colts, Seahawks, Dolphins, and Jags

I'm sure that I'm missing a team or two. My point was simply that the Panthers aren't the only team with a young quarterback that isn't out relentlessly grabbing young and old talent to try to build a monster offense for next year.

  3. Hopefully I'm dead wrong and he signs tomorrow

Everyone read about Cam wanting to wait until Wilson and Luck to set the market but personally I think Cam and his agent aren't gonna sign until we actually try surrounding him with talent. You think Cam isn't noticing how every other team at least tries to surround there young franchise QB with talent.

People in here seem to be more worried about 2 or 3 years into the future than actually winning next season, Cam might not want to be for the future if we keep low balling him. Same goes with Rivera, on paper we have one of the least talented teams in the league and we expect to make the playoff year and year out with a bunch of bargain FA and mid and late round draft picks?

Surely Cam is noticing how the Browns, Vikings, Titans, Raiders, and 49ers are just killing it by surrounding their young QBs with talent...

  4. Our neighborhood in Atlanta was in a frenzy a couple of weeks ago when a van was spotted by multiple kids walking home from school with the side door open, driving slowly, and taking photos of them. Police came out, parents were losing their minds - there must have been ten different kids that said something to their parents. This came about a month after an eight or nine year old girl was walking up her driveway and reported that a van with two men had approached her in the driveway and asked if her mom or dad was home.

We found out not too long ago that it was apparently HGTV scouting our neighborhood for potential homes to use in a series (bunch of old craftsman homes). While parents were relieved that it was HGTV, it begged the question: what fugging planet are you people from where you don't think twice about creeping through the neighborhood at a snail's pace with a van door open, hanging out taking photographs (of what all the kids assumed were of them) and even approaching a young girl to ask if mom and dad are home?

That's not to suggest that what happened in your neighborhood was innocent. Just another tale. Glad you taught your kids what to do in that situation and hope you have a strong neighborhood network to communicate effectively about these incidents. If you don't have it already, I would very strongly advocate that you try to get a Nextdoor network set up for your neighborhood. It's basically a localized social network that is exclusive to your neighborhood. It has been so incredibly helpful in our neighborhood with regards to getting the word out about suspicious crap like this in a matter of minutes. It is not very widespread at this point and I don't know if it's in Charlotte at this point, but definitely worth looking into: www.nextdoor.com.

  5. The fact that Blaine Gabbert is playing for his second team and fighting for a roster spot should make us all very damn pleased. We can trash Hurney for the crappy running back contracts but the man probably had one of if not the best hit rates on first round draft picks of any general manager during his time.

  6. Since I edited my original post to include the McCarthy quotes and this has gone on multiple pages since then, I'm reposting.

This time last year, Mike McCarthy couldn't stop saying great things about Jarrett Boykin. In camp and preseason he didn't pull away as the Packers #3 which is what they expected. But the guy clearly has some traits that have caught coaches' eyes.

This from McCarthy in August 2014:

"Clearly, Jarrett Boykin has taken the next step," coach Mike McCarthy said. "I just love the way he plays. He's had an excellent camp."

    This from March 2014:

Obviously something went awry in the interim, but the point is that coaches loved him at one point. Look at Byron Bell - we lamented his gamedays for years, but the coaches always saw something in him. Please don't misunderstand - I'm not using Byron Bell to support the Jarrett Boykin cause. But I am willing to admit that I know crap compared to our coaches and scouts, and I trust the judgment of a professional that watches the guy every day. There's something there.

  8. I understand why we want to make him a June 1 cut, but why is it called a June 1 cut if it happens in March?

My understanding is that you can designate a player a post June 1 cut prior to June 1st but after the start of the new league year (March 10) so that you do not have to pay roster bonuses or other incentives that would have to be paid out if the player actually remained on the roster between the start of the league year and June 1. However, you still keep the cap charge of the designated player so you can't designate someone a post June cut and then gain their cap space to use in the upcoming free agency period.

  9. Do we know that he isn't flamboyant? ESPN didn't keep a camera crew around him for 4 days during the draft because of his football skills.

Have we seen him parading around with a skirt on and his shirt off as the men are depicted in the photo? No, we haven't. Do we know that he isn't "flamboyant" outside of what we've seen on television? No, we don't. And that's part of the point. The image projects a stereotype that, even though we don't know about Michael Sam, he is a gay man and all gay men must be flamboyant, therefore we must depict him this way. And then we should all have a good laugh about it. What the fug is that?

And for the sake of argument, let's assume that he is a flamboyant gay man. Does that make it acceptable to ridicule him? On what fuging planet do you people live? I can't believe that so many people are defending a picture that so obviously ridicules a man for being homosexual. I haven't been to rural North Carolina in a long time. I guess it's easy to forget how prevalent intolerance still is in some parts of the country.

See that...I don't have all the information about who you are or where you live, yet I just projected a stereotype onto all rural North Carolinians that isn't accurate. Pretty fuging ignorant, huh?

Apologies to everyone else for turning the post a pic thread into the tinderbox momentarily...here's a pic.

  10. No it doesn't. It only shows men who are obviously of the flamboyent variety. In no way does it project that on all gay men, just those. It does say that they are member of the Cowboys, which is demeaning no matter who you are.

It takes the situation of one man - Michael Sam - and projects a flamboyant personality onto him. That is obvious.

  11. COWBOY PRACTICE SQUAD

i love taking shots at the cowboys as much as the next guy but this is not funny in my opinion. it perpetuates terrible stereotypes and i think it should be removed by a moderator. my two pennies.
