So we traded last year’s first, last year’s second, this year’s first, a 2025 second,  D.J. Moore, two firsts and a second for Bryce Young, a second, and a fifth? Damn.

He also spoke about running to set up the pass. Specifically mentioned Chuba but not Sanders.

I’d say his roster spot is safe. However, I would be concerned about how long the leash is as a starter.

Brown is an old diesel tractor - does the work, gets overlooked by everyone. 

Sanders is a Porsche - pay heavily for a Volkswagen.

Tailor made for a game manager. Young in San Fran would be pretty good. Purdy in Carolina would look about like Young.

In today’s “Athletic” article, Joe Person compares Bryce Young to a Toyota because of his reliability. Which led me to think, if he’s a Toyota, what model?

My thoughts:

If Young is a Toyota, he’s a Corolla - entry-level base model with nothing special. Too small, too slow, and average, at best. Sure it’s reliable, but if you’re being honest, it’s basic and will be replaced by something better in a few years. No one actually wants a Corolla - they settle for one. 
 

Why stop there? Is Burns an Escalade - looks nice from the outside but just a base Tahoe? Is Horn a Land Rover - tons of potential but always in the shop?

Tepper will hire a “yes man” to do his billing. That’s the only reason Fitterer is still here. Bullies surround themselves with those that will do as they’re told. Tepper can’t handle pushback because that would mean there’s someone smarter in the room. Tepper cannot admit that he’s wrong and will double down on his poor decisions. The next head coach will be some has-been pushover.

This is what happens when you try to outsmart the eye test. This team’s leadership bought into the the notion that cognition testing is as or more important than physical measurables. if Young doesn’t turn it around and Stroud continues to excel, we will be the poster child for failed trade-up scenarios.

I would have deactivated his badge after the game. Let’s see if Morgan is worth a damn before we clean house after our two-win season.

Regardless of who made the decision, it’s done. Now it’s time for this experienced coaching staff to scheme players open so our shellshocked QB can gain confidence and resemble a starting QB in this league. 

This team feels like the team everyone schedules for homecoming. We are the leagues “get right” team. Wherever your struggles are, play Carolina and get right.

Back in April I called it that Bryce wouldn’t make it to week 8. I’ve been consistent saying he would bust. When it is finally obvious to the majority I will be here waving at you.  He shows zero “it” factor, he looks slow, he has almost no zip on his passes and he looks like a fish out of water on the field in every aspect. He played in a college program with the most elite players at every position playing against inferior talent 75% of the season,  making him look way better than he actually is. 
 I have no doubt Young is super smart and can process things quickly, but he lacks NFL level skills and talent. I think he processed our  brain trust at these dinners and  snookered them.  
 

Even if he was 6’3” he’d still be a game manager with a dink and dunk game. He lacks velocity on his throws. He doesn’t throw receivers open. He’s basically a shorter Trent Dilfer. I’m sure can win games in the right system, but I’m not sure this is that system. Again, I hope I’m wrong. I hope the light switches on and he looks like he did in college, but he’s not playing against Vanderbilt DBs or Louisiana-Monroe LBs.

With what picks? We have to overspend to get players because veterans want to be part of consistent winners. We’ve never had back to back winning seasons. Ever. Carolina is where free agents get a chance to play or ride out for retirement. We are not a destination. 

I’m a frustrated fan. I dislike the owner - mostly stemming from his arrogance, botched deal with Rock Hill, and reluctance to put grass back in BOA. I dislike the GM because he consistently trades away future assets for mediocre players. I dislike the coach because his gameplan is dated and wont relinquish play calling duties to the up and coming OC. I dislike the QB because he seems lost, lacks confidence, and has average arm strength. I question if there is a clear direction for this team and unfortunately see another few years of bad football in Carolina. This team is consistently inconsistent. This year is ugly and I’m not sure when it will turn around.

Sure would, but I’d also have hope for the future. I’ve never been so down on this team as I am right now…and that’s saying something because I was in the stands during the Pickle year.
