I think we spent enough time as a football society being idiots about when players didn't play in bowl games (possibly costing themselves time/millions etc at the next level for arguable reasons at best). I guess we're just doing that now about throwing at the combine where in a job all about timing and nuance you get zero of it/throw to randos at the combine and have none of what you have had and will have at every level--practice with who you're throwing to.  If you're the consensus top pick which he has been for over a year, I fail to see reason for anyone questioning literally anything he might do to make his consensus not consensus. Easy.

I have no problem if people like Stroud, Levis, Richardson. I just think being so against a prospect you use things like the combine which the top prospect often decides to not throw to question how much competitive fire he has when you just need to watch some tape and see how hard he played to keep his team in games, it just becomes silly.

He just does not have a competitive nature.  He comes off as the type that thinks that if he cannot win he doesn't want to play.

Until you take a step back and pop on some of his tape where you can see a guy that competes every second and never backs down, and then you realize that making character judgements over only the combine is throwing out years of evidence.

Did you feel the same about Burrow not throwing at the combine?

Still equally fun if they take Stroud?

I’ve made that clear plenty. I’m pro Richardson as well.

The haters and size cowards can handle a little prodding. I’ve embraced the Bryce size jokes.

I have said if it’s Stroud I’ll ride just as hard for him but it’s pretty obvious where this is going regardless of how long it takes people to come around.

Its a fun time to be a Panther so much negativity over such a fun offseason smh.

I think there has to be some pretty serious consideration that doing it many times is definitely advantageous to never doing it. I'm not sure how often CJ has taken it (or whether it was his first time).

I'm trying to think of something to compare it to and the Stroop Effect came to mind. I think it is a lot easier for somebody to score higher on it once they are used to reading the colored font of the word after doing it a few times, as opposed to somebody that has never taken it.

I'd be curious if they had each QB do it three times a day over a set limit of time, such as a 1 week span, and see how scores fluctuate. If all the QBs scored statistically significantly higher on the latter tests, then I think that would give us a good answer as to how repeated exposure to the test impacts performance.

I am curious as well because this feels like a variable it would need to control for somehow.

I don't think he'll sit for long - you're right he needs to play and they'll want to get him on the field as soon as possible.

His NFL team might not have elite talent, but they're still NFL calibre players - a massive upgrade from what he was playing with in Gainesville.

I’d argue as well the earlier he gets around a legit NFL QB coach the better, even if it means less game experience.

In terms of the general decision point though it’s been shown QBs giving the NFL more tape isn’t usually a positive as they’ll have more to nit pick. If you think you are a top 5 pick you should go.

I think the media believes Tepper will override the decision, they are convinced that’s his style, and that is what they are pushing.

I believe the opposite. I think he is trying to be as informed as possible so he can push back, ask the tough questions etc., everything a really good manager should do. But in the end he will let his football people make the decisions.

I'd argue we've seen him do that in the past with letting Rhule skip other rookie QBs that he reportedly wanted bad. I dont really think he wants to force people to do anything he just wants people that will accept his challenge and push back if hes wrong, because he clearly is trying to learn.

If we've already heard about Levis and Richardson's scores idk why we would not have Stroud's. If he scored low what's the number? Seems like there are some draft games being played.

I think its up to the prospects to release them or something, but then why does Zuerline get to if thats the case. Bizarre.

I’m not comparing him to willis as a player. I’m comparing the media push to catapult them into discussions for top 5 pick when it isn’t warranted.

Yeah thats fair, I guess I just feel like the situation surrounding Wills were a bit different with that class. I'm not trying to make you like him, I just think he shows he can process at a quick rate on tape. I'm very open that I think his accuracy issues are going to be his deciding factor and I understand why some people think it wont be as hard to fix as others, because I think he's got a clear flaw in his base that needs correcting. How accurate does that make him though?

Unlikely since the only thing that’s been said regarding Stroud and the test is that ALL the top QB prospects scored very well on it.

It was an interesting Zuerline interview it almost felt like his sources in the Front Office asked him to start pushing that it wasnt their fault on Bryce and talk people out of Stroud.

But it does make sense that front office would like the S2 a lot.

I’m just not buying this hype. I watched him all year at Florida. He’s getting the same push Malik Willis got last year and I’m not buying it….no way in any draft in the history of drafts should he be remotely considered for first overall.

Willis wasnt even in the same galaxy as him with things like Pocket Presence and Progressing through reads though. I understand why people want to push the comp but I'm just speaking from things I like in a QB and its also a reason I love Bryce.

Willis was an athlete with a great arm in a bad QB class, I get why there was hype people expect the NFL to draft QBs so assuming a few top guys go in the first and then conforming to that assumption boosted him. His tape showed a guy that wilted under pressure both in terms of pocket movement and throwing ability. Richardson had the best pressure to sack ratio in this draft class.

There are plenty of prospects at the top this year to not need a Richardson narrative, and I just think (No Offense just something ive seen a lot) that its a bit lazy to just say Willis and move on when they are really really different.

That statistic about no low scoring prospect from the last 7 years making it is quite damning. If Stroud did perform badly in the test than I can imagine that all but rules him out of being our pick.

I just think its funny this test is going to become the end all be all for some people with people like Zuerline saying stuff like that, but no one is actually able to show the results from the last 7 years to prove it.

    That's not what was said.

They absolutely are being taught how to hit the QB without getting a penalty.

Who has dived off a cliff defending his size? Show me all these posts that don't make sense.

I think that it's the other way around. People who just don't want him because of his size have gone way overboard in their criticism. They don't want to talk football, and even when they do they're talking out their ass.

Hard to discuss the pros of a prospect when half the conversation has pronounced him dead on arrival.
