  1. When I typed their names together it seemed like a super-powered legal team that sues guys like John Gruden for racial slurs in emails and makes millions doing it. But then I got to thinking, can we afford to put them on retainer? Could that be why we are playing hard ball with Burns? I mean we have got to sign these guys don't we? Otherwise Everytime we enter the court room we will gan ran through.

Which leads to the next question, can we give them top pay for the position and build a complete roster around them?

Reich is not the answer and Tepper is to blame. He has no idea what he is doing.

Bro wtf are you talking about. It's way to early to tell and you may be right. But the two ints and fumble wasn't on Reich. Only one call I've seen was the 4th and one that was questionable. And that was the first drive of the game. Plenty of opportunities for the team to respond and haven't.

Bryce is the big unknown. If he’s the real deal we could be an 11-12+ win team. If he’s not or takes time to get there we may not be a playoff team but we should still be no worse than last year.

I think we have to see an improvement over last year or the hype around this coaching staff is for not. Ive always felt for you to be successful you need good football sense and talent. And on paper we have done both. So anything Equal to or worse than last year gives me serious concern.

Defense of the word 'hater' followed by a claim of 'strong dislike' when literally no one has said they don't like Burns... you're already showing your own bias. Other posts including some of my own have already addressed all of this.

Not defending the word hater. I'm defending burns. You obviously missed the context. Those advocating to trade burns think the trade value was greater than the value of Burns himself. And in my biased opinion, I disagree. That's the point of a debate on a topic isn't it?

What's quaint is this assertion of disrespect/fans don't appreciate/'insert similar comment here' present in a given fanbase, as if there aren't differing opinions across every team in the sports world. I live here in KC, arguably the top of the NFL for several years now, and there are people complaining about the fanbase. Hell, even certain players were whining about it in recent years. The whole 'fanbase doesn't appreciate...' take is incredibly stale and unoriginal.

Yup, there are hordes of people claiming Burns sucks. You're right on the money...

And speaking of stale, 'hater' is about the most meaningless word out there these days.

It's only a stale take to those who take the good in what they have for granted and paint it as a "grass is greener" answer. The grass always gets greener where you water it. And under no circumstances would trading the only semblance of a pass rush we have, for a what if would be good for this team. Retaining burns is a priority. Surrounding him with help on the other edge is equally as Important. Your only stating this as if your coming from a stand point of logic. And logically your argument is flawed.  A hater isn't a useless word, it's trendy, or another way of saying cynic or a doubter. Some who has a strong dislike towards someone or something. And I think you should admit that, at least, you don't believe in burns as a long term option.

That group had Olsen and a waning Cotchery but not much else.  While this team doesn't have a talent like Olsen, we do have several sturdy and capable pieces.  Also, I think the Oline is probably much better than the group back then.

That coupled with a more innovative coaching staff leads me to believe this Panther group will surprise a lot of people this year.    I think if Young will have some normal growing pains as a rookie but he will impress.  Probably drinking some homerade, but I think we will be in a position to win the division this year.

The real thing we are looking over is just how good that defense was. Paired with an almost unstoppable run-game we were a very hard team to beat. We controlled the clock and you really had to beat us upfront to win against our defense. This sport has 3 phases, and while we may be close or maybe slightly better offensively, can we say the same for defense and special teams?

That defense was one of the best of the last few decades in the entire league.

We aren’t appealing to authority. The “authority” isn’t reading this. I’m just willing to wait and see on draft picks and a brand new staff. It’s ok to gamble on mid/late 3rd rounders. It’s really not that big of a deal.

People acted like we traded away our remaining first round picks from here on out over this dude.

It was a late 3rd and 4th rounder lmao

  8. To the doubters.

This guy's attributes sets up for what we needed. He's a run stopper. We don't have many of those. He is an edge setter.

Y'all need to chill tf out. I have been able to understand every pick we've taken, most of you forget no draft pick is perfect. They have to learn the game. And that's part of the battle.

You would have done this. We should've done that. You should go get in a thumb war with someone who cares. Bc I can promise you the Panthers FO does not.

Given the recent ankle issue and the upcoming MASSIVE contract he will be getting either this year or the next, where do you rank Burns as Panthers all time DEs. Me personally, I like Burns, I think he is very good, I don't view him as ELITE. He can go MIA easily for 2-3 games (see Tampa finale last year) where the ELITE ones show up week in and week out

    1) Peppers- undeniably the best DE in franchise history

    2) Rucker- great pass rusher, solid against the run

    3) Johnson- yes he was BIG MONEY but the guy was a wall against the run and could bullrush to the QB

    4) Hardy- yes he was a fruit basket but when the switch was on and it was GO time, the guy wreaked havoc and could take over a game

    5) Burns- finesse pass rusher, Von Miller'esque but without the overwhelming strength to get to the QB, relies on speed. Not very good against the run, a very good OT can basically take him out of the game

You know in thinking about this, I think your rankings are pretty clear. I mean you do leave out some guys that could potentially be listed just because they had more sacks than burns: Mario Addison and Kevin Greene both had more sacks in a Panthers uniform than Burns. That's likely to change this year though.

But the part I think we are all missing with this, is again, it's a team sport. Individual stats leave out key details about the game. So therefore the productivity of the player is effected greatly. Think about the Guys peppers played across from and on the interior. Same for the rest of your guys on the list. CJ had Hardy, Kawann at his height, Star and a great linebacker core. Same for Hardy. Teams couldn't focus on them. That DA Rule left Burns out there to be keyed on with no real help surrounding him and he still manages to get to the QB. Something is to be said about that.
