  1. Thank you for the thread Verge, in particular the tidbit about Carolina preferring AR v Levis (very reassuring to me).

I’ve disagreed with your QB evaluations before (in particular about Willis and Fields) but always appreciated the time and effort you put into them. Thanks for still being around these parts.

  2. I wanted to tank when Rhule got fired and thought Wilks would be a dumpster fire of a HC like in Arizona.

Now? All aboard the Wilks bandwagon. I want to make the playoffs. This team is so easy to root for. They play tough, they’re physical, and the OL is a thing of beauty in the run game.

Let him bring in a legit OC next year and let’s run it back. He’s a leader.

  3. Could’ve been our Jamal Adams trade. The springboard of a war chest of draft picks that propels the new era forward. 2 1’s and a 2? That’s an absolute no brainer for any franchise with a coherent plan when it comes to a player of Burns caliber. That’s more than Khalil Mack went for considering what the Raiders sent along with him.

    Massive mistake rejecting this offer.

  4. Iowa’s defense is actually really good. But Stroud showing on that last drive what he’s all about.

My biggest complaint with Stroud is always that he doesn’t leverage his athleticism like he should. He’s 6-3 215 and pretty darn athletic for his size, but he’s so determined to throw it and not be a runner that he ignores open running lanes.

  5. Just now, Matthias said:

Kentucky is not really known for high QB picks.  They aren't really known for much of anything concerning football.  They are more of a basketball school.  It's actually a good sign for Levis to get attention playing for this school.

Ohio State hasn’t really been known for high QB picks until 2019 with Haskins. And Day told Haskins directly, along with all 31 NFL teams that spoke with him, that he was too immature and needed another year in college.

FWIW, my OSU sources have raved about Stroud for a while now. Fields is more gifted in terms of athleticism and arm talent, but Stroud’s accuracy and anticipation are 1.1 quality. He’s the reason Chris Olave and Jeremy Ruckert didn’t enter the NFL draft after 2020.

I think Bryce is really good too though.

Frankly, I’m of the opinion to take whichever QB the GM/HC/OC believe in the most and build around them, whoever that is.

Besides the cap issues, Fitterer likes to trade away draft picks a little too much for my liking.

Agreed. It’s like we haven’t learned the lessons of the past few years. Accumulating picks is valuable, especially when you’re going to be up against cap issues, and we continue to piss them away.

  7. The cap is yet another reason why Fitterer needs to go with Rhule. I don’t want to hear the “cap is a myth” argument. That whole philosophy centers around kicking the can (in terms of the $$$ bill) down the road so you can maximize your competitiveness in the immediate future.

It’s great when you’re doing it to make playoff runs. It makes absolutely zero sense when you’re going for 5 or less wins for the fifth straight year.

Let a new GM figure out how to get us out of cap hell.

  8. Panthers are actually set up quite well for a young QB, provided they make the right  coaching hires.

    CMC at RB

    DJM WR1

    6th overall pick at LT

    Christiansen looking good at LG

    Moton locked in at RT

    Corbett locked in at RG

I left Robby out because his future is uncertain and idk what the rest of the WR room looks like. Sign a nice veteran TE in free agency, draft/sign a center, and it’s a nice nucleus.
