LT for sure. Joe will want to build a wall to protect Teddy this year since he was pressured way too much last season.

Once Teddy beats out Sam as QB1 it will be easy enough to let Sam walk if the option hasn’t been picked up, so it makes no sense to pick up the option now.

Until Darnold shows a lot more than he did with the Jets, I will maintain the opinion that Teddy will be QB1 again this year.
Can’t wait to see how much the team progresses in Year 2 of the Teddy Era!

I believe there was a Tom Brady pass that was completed exactly that way that facilitated the rule change.
Correct

Good to see pro-bowler Teddy Bridgewater listed as one of the highlights of the 2014 class. I think he has a good shot at a Pro Bowl this year given the extra year of familiarity with the team.

Training camp competition Teddy vs Sam. Teddy likely wins that competition, leaving Sam as backup or trade bait.

Still waiting for these amazing deals we would be offered for Teddy. Huddle experts told me he was worth so much.
I think Rhule and Brady will see how the competition between Teddy and Sam plays out before deciding which to trade.

I have a feeling Teddy is going to be the backup this season. Costs too much to trade or release.
Agree that Teddy will be on the Panthers roster, and if Teddy’s on the roster he will start most of the games because there’s no way Sam will be more effective than Teddy would be.

It typically takes a couple years for a QB to develop chemistry with a WR corps, hence the reason I expect Teddy to lead the Panthers to a much better season this year.

Trevor is listed as the #6 overall recruit out of high school since 2000 by 247sports, and his college play backed that up. He certainly has the talent to be a high level NFL QB. Will be interesting to see what happens.

I still expect Teddy to start more games for the Panthers this year than Sam.
However, I do think Teddy should contact Sam to give him perspective regarding how to hang in there when things don’t go well and there are rumblings that the organization wants to run him off.

Fields would be a great pick, as Teddy could mentor him for the next 2-3 years as Favre did with Rodgers. At that point Teddy will be just over 30, and if he is still going strong Fields could be prime trade bait.

I think this highlights the need to continue to mold the team around Teddy to better take advantage of his skill set.
A guy who should be targeted in the early rounds is Tutu Atwell who like Teddy attended Miami Northwestern HS and then Louisville. Teddy excels at the short/intermediate pass, and Atwell is a guy who can take it to the house from anywhere on the field.

I agree with this I just worry Bridgeburner's presence brings bad vibes to the team when we need Darnold to take the reigns. Call it the Steve Smith reasoning.
Bridgeburner?
Teddy is and always has been a model team player, great locker room/team culture guy, and real American hero.

I expect Teddy will solidify his spot by Week 1, but not sure it will make sense to cut Sam since his salary is reasonable for a backup.

Based on this presser, I’m still thinking QB1 is still Teddy’s spot to lose.

Makes no sense to give up Teddy and make concessions to pay his salary. Will need him to take over anyway once Darnold produces more of the same of what he did with the Jets.

Funny how so much was made early on regarding the lack of chemistry between DJ and Teddy, yet here we are. With another season I expect Teddy and DJ’s chemistry to further improve (after this Darnold experiment has run its course).

Teddy will win more games as a starter for the Panthers this year than Darnold will. Just wait and see.

Teddy grew up on the mean streets of Liberty City in Miami and his mom was diagnosed with cancer when he was in high school. He is way too tough to let a rough season take him down.

Once Teddy beats out Sam for the starting position, I do think Sam will prove to be much more capable backup for Teddy than PJ was.
However, it’s clear Teddy needs more weapons and a healthy year from CMC would be a good start. Also need to shore up the O line to better protect Teddy and give him time to get the ball down the field.

An Important Update

Teddy definitely needs an extension. I think adding another 6 years to his current deal would be about right, and standard for a franchise QB.
