^^^^ Seems like the Jets fans are signing up with new accounts to join in the Darnold-Bashing.  LOL!

BTW, they should bash their own CS as well.   Zach is well on his way to being...."Sam Darnold'd"

If that's the case we'll happily take another 2nd rounder off your hands in a few years. Get ahead of the market and grab your Zach Wilson Panthers jersey NOW.

And what is that supposed to mean? 🤨

He was all over the news (both NFL and Local).    That's how I knew about him.

Oh wait....are you also being a dick here?   riight.   My bad.

I keep forgetting why I put you on ignore.

Tsk, tsk.  I need to stop clicking on ignored posts and reading them.  #badformyhealth

Bye.   (and you can fug off, too, while watching your Jets get humbled)

Do you put everyone on ignore who tells you things you don't want to hear?

The kid never really had quality coaching at any level. They basically let him go and play off of raw talent. The result was the NE game. Brady took a young Joe Burrow who was doing the same thing and made him into a top QB talent with good fundamentals. I think his system will be really good for Darnald so long as we have a OL that can pretend to be decent.

The OL really is the key. If he can be protected and has confidence in the line he should be ok. He may not be a world beater, all-pro, but he'll be good enough manage the games.

  4. Don't know much about the individual players on your Oline, but protecting Sam really needs to be the focal point, which I'm sure is an extremely obvious talking point, but its vital. Give him a little bit of time and he should be ok. If he has an Oline like he did in 2019 & 2020.......whooooaaa nelly. Not many QBs can perform well in that scenario.

Yea I don’t really get the point of this thread- was expecting to read some standard Jets garbage, but all of his points were pretty well reasoned and backed up with stats. If anything it now has me thinking that our Oline may be worse than the jets last year, which would probably be the worst we’ve ever fielded. Thanks a lot OP

Looking at a couple early offensive line rankings and the Panthers have been around 29/30. I know its early and rankings mean nothing, but certainly not out of the realm of possibility as the Jets ended last year at #29 on PFF. Might end up being a push haha!

Think about what you just said :

Sammy's below the waist technique was worse in year 3 than it was in year one.

What was the difference from year one to year 3?    Adam Gase came in Year 2 and then 3 and thoroughly f*cked him up.

    Ummmmm......?

Any halfway decent and capable coach should be able to improve it considering Gase et. all didn't know their a$$ from the their elbow.

Lol. It’s funny how “offended” people get, but I was thinking the same thing. The article was only about the Jets advantages, that’s it. Davis against Horn was the only one I paused at because I don’t think much of Davis. He’s not a legit #1.

I agree. Not sure how much of an "advantage" that particular matchup will be. It's mostly based off historical performance of rookie CBs vs anything Davis has really done. While the stats are informative, you know what they say about historical performance not being a good indicator of future results.

We clearly have the better team assuming Darnold is average. The Jets are down a starting LT, DE, and WR, not to mention more of their players may come down with COVID. They're also starting a rookie QB and that is almost always rough for any team. We're holding all the cards in this matchup. If we lose that means Darnold is a poop disaster and we're headed toward a horrific season. The Jets are the worst of the teams we'll play.

Barring any setbacks I think Becton should be cleared come game time.

His 5 weren’t actually that crazy

it’s the NFL.  The Jets will have some individual advantages in certain scenarios.

The X factor guys, Michael Nania and Robby Sabo, do a pretty good job providing sober analyses. They cover the good and the bad. Definitely not the typical homerish fanboys. They are largely data driven and backup it up with objective metrics and statistics. They've put together some very useful and interesting content for us Jets fans in the relatively short time they've been around.

    Interesting to note :

    No WR advantage

    No mention of CMC

Not even a Zach Wilson fluff piece having him have the edge over Sam.

Just 'cause the OL players have struggled doesn't mean they're going to struggle against the Jets....AT HOME...in front of the home fans....on GAME ONE where they're amped up and ready.

Like Chris Berman once said : "That's why they play the games."

If you think about it, it make a lot of sense there is no mention of CMC in an article listing potential matchup advantages for the Jets. CMC is clearly a mismatch favoring you guys.

IMO, this whole "happy feet" syndrome has been way overblown.

It stems mostly from Steve Smith's on-air comments, early in the last broadcast.  Maybe Smith should stick to critiquing WRs, CBs, and route running, about which he's an expert.  He's never been a QB, never thrown a pass, to my knowledge, and has never stood in any pocket, under a rush.

Try to recall the footwork of Peyton Manning.  I think that would be described as "happy feet," when in reality, it's far better than standing flat-footed.  Manning chose that method to be better prepared to launch in any direction.  I'd describe it, not as "happy feet,' but as versatile and athletic footwork.

This is a very generous observation. It was a very big issue Sam's first three years. Sammy's below the waist technique was worse in year 3 than it was in year one. Any halfway decent and capable coach should be able to improve it considering Gase et. all didn't know their a$$ from the their elbow.

  12. Could be Moore's NFL coming out party. By all accounts kid looked absolutely electric during camp. Will mostly be working out of the slot so will be interesting to see if you guys match him up with Horn. I'd think they would want to keep him on the outside and deal with Davis/Mimms/Cole. Generally speaking it would be a bit of a surprise to see a CB taken in the top 10 be used to cover slot guys, but it is his first game so maybe the coaches will want to ease him into it.
