He's been around tops in the league in touches the last couple of years. Based on history he's probably got 2 or 3 more years at this pace before the decline. The Titans are putting all their chips in now I can't blame them they could make a run with him like Marshawn Lynch. We've tried to use the same approach with McCaffrey but he just isn't built for it and he's already had mileage from back at Stanford. Odds are low this run of injuries is going to go in the other direction. It stinks but what can you do.

True the Titans are all in on Henry but he did have a lot of touches  in college and also High School

they all play with good QBs and good OLs.  Fournette a top RB? Or does now just play in a place RBs thrive.

it’s silly to build around Henry and CMC.  They get hurt and you are screwed.  Rams, Bucs, Dallas, all keep rolling with a RB injury.   There are a lot of legit runners in the NFL if they are setup for success.  There aren’t many that can what Henry and CMC do.

My point wasn’t that you build around the RB just we would still need to find better than what we would have on the roster.Just like you said we need a good OL which we don’t have at the moment nor have we invested in since CMC got here. They built this team around defense not the RB they just thought the rb could make up for a lot of their shortcomings on offense which he did when healthy but like you said when he goes out we’re dead in the water.

    I'm 2x all ACC.

Hamstring injuries are hard to predict from a recovery standpoint. Aggravating an existing injury is extremely common and that's without knowing if there was an underlying issue that led to it in the first place.

Regarding your conspiracy theory, if the Panthers want to trade CMC why would they actively tank his value and designate him as a player who can't stay healthy despite having a massive contract?

Great you should have played in the SEC like me then you could say you played real football LOL.I don’t think the Panthers tanked his value the injuries he’s had the last 2 years none have required surgery but it’s just kind of strange that maybe Tepper wanted Watson so bad and they were afraid CMC would get hurt , then they wouldn’t have this carrot to put in front of Houston if the report is true they were willing to part with CMC.Yes I agree with you that hamstring are hard to predict but his was consider a very mild strain from his MRI and key here is MOST have a recovery time of lest than 2 weeks.Maybe they were afraid he would be like Hopkins trying to get back on the field to soon who knows but them.

You don’t need a top RB.  If you have a good QB and OL….you simply will have a run as a byproduct.  League is full of guys that can run the ball.

Fournett ,Aaron Jones,Darrell Henderson,Henry , Joe Mixon ,Elliot , Josh Jacobs are all better than what we would have at RB if we traded CMC and these are most of the top teams minus the Bills who have avg RBs

Honestly at this point, IMO they can have either Burns or Chinn. We’re all seeing right now how a team with a great D and no QB works out in todays NFL. We can remove one piece from that D and still be top notch. Can’t do poo without a real QB.

We would still need a top RB,3 or 4 O line and a second WR plus a Pass Rusher to replace Burns  .Yet we would have no 1st rounder for 3 years or a 2nd rounder in 2022. That’s probably why Watson wouldn’t want to come here it’s the same things he complained about in Houston a O line and top RB.

Clearly you have never been a high level athlete.

I think your the one who’s never been the athlete maybe the band. A .5 doesn’t keep you out for 7 weeks and yes I know you can Hurt your hamstring again if it’s not completely healthy but CMC his self said he felt great and he was held out full contact . So if he did re injury then he has bad luck or he’s injury prone which means he’s done with Pro Football.

  7. 7 minutes ago, Call Me James said:

He's injured. You can't just put healthy players on IR.

His hamstring was a .5 which means he should have been out from a week to 2 weeks at the most. I know you can’t put a healthy player on IR but nobody knows how hurt he is either since his MRI was the day after the Houston game.

To go along with this. Resign Reddick, resign Gilmore. Do the damn thing and win the Super Bowl in the next 2 years. Oh yeah, and build a real NFL o line for once.

No since we already built around a RB let him play behind that o line. If he is great as you think .

    That's where I'm at.

As good as CMC is, dude is never healthy. Since signing his contract, he has only played 6 out of 23 possible games. RB has the shortest lifespan of all positions. Stop building around RBs. If the Texans are willing to take that trade for Watson, you make it happen and run. A franchise QB > a RB any day of the week.

How do you think they built around a RB ? If they did it’s the worst building I have seen since they have gave the RB no o line . I say this is what you get when you build around defense and more like whole drafts spent on defense

Even before the repeatedly dead-horse beaten topics I have had a hard time focusing on anything past halftime since game one. I think that may be a big problem with players too.

I am half convinced that a lot of the forms of entertainment we have now create very short attention spans, especially for younger people or players.

The games just feel so long. I swear by halftime I feel like I have watched the entire game. I debated on making an entire thread about this subject but felt like I lacked a lot of substance and would just come off as rambling.

If this built around a RB they have done a terrible job sine they must think he can block and run at the same time.We have had a bottom 5 o line since CMC got here. I think this is what you get when you build around the Defense instead of around the offense like today’s  top NFL teams do.

    Sigh.

Do you watch?  Watch him play.  Yes, his hands are not great.  This can be said for a TON of backs who have successful careers.

He's played in six games this season.  He's had exactly TWO where is YPC was less than 3.7.  Coincidentally, the same number of games Derrick Henry has been below 3.7 YPC.  I don't see too many people questioning Derrick Henry's viability.

Let's also not minimize just how BAD our line is.  They are tragic, especially in the middle where the push for running really starts.

Let's say that Chuba is "average".  It's pretty widely known that the rushing champion hasn't won the SB since 1998.  Is it REALLY that important to be "great" or can you get away with an average RB?  Seems pretty easy to argue that you can get away with an average back.

Do you watch? We’re not talking about if we need a o line or a top notch QB play CMC had neither too but Hubbard does not draw attention from the Defense and still does not have monster games. His avg fir the year is        3.7 so you can twist it all you want but he is a avg back and that’s why he lasted to the 4th round. He’s 22 in his rookie year CMC was 21 so that does make a difference because he should be stronger then what he shows and his measurable we’re above avg. coming from college we’re as CMC we’re elite.

  12. 10 minutes ago, CanePantherHornet said:

Could the reason CMC hasn't been playing is because he knows that he's gone? That injury did not look bad at all, he was barely even limping.

That’s  what I’m thinking but can you trade somebody who is on IR or would they have to make it next week

  13. 3 hours ago, BrianS said:

The talk about stacked boxes and scheming are irrelevant.

Chuba averages nearly four yards per carry behind a historically terrible offensive line.  That's a starter quality average in the NFL.  It's as simple as that.  It doesn't matter how the defense aligns or schemes, if your RB is getting four yards a pop, you feed him.  All day.

Imagine what he would look like behind a line like Tennessee.  Or the old Denver zone scheme.

He’s at 3.7 and he’s getting worst as the defense starts paying attention to him and so has our offense went backwards with him .He is terrible in the passing game .So if you like avg or below avg you must be ok with us going 500 or worst every year

How could you watch this game and conclude that a top tier RB is worth it?  I'm watching a 10-10 game between two teams that desperately need better QB play.

The QB us the most important position on the team nobody is debating that . But Derrick Henry just might go old school and take a team to the Super Bowl on his back. You also can’t just get a back off the scrap pile and expect to dominate they either picked in the 1st or 2nd round. We just made a mistake picking a RB high in the draft and not building a O line around him and Cam. We should have went O line instead of Brown and Burns . The top teams in the NFL this year all put more emphasis on Offense instead of Defense

  15. 1 hour ago, rippadonn said:

My view of it all was they sooooo much wanted to move on from Cam they did everything they could (+++carries etc.) to make this CMCs team instead.

All good and fine but you don't replace a star QB with a star RB. It doesn't work that way. Duh.

You don't pay a RB WR money either.

Then the Saints , Vikings , Cowboys ,Titans shouldn”t have paid their RB either which includes Kamara who signed a 75,000,000 million for 5 years . They all are right their with pay the same as CMC
