That isn't my biggest point. And by the time that everyone playing now retires, he will have long since been up for HOF consideration. It's only a five year window before that happens.

If you want points, he's fifth all time in passing yardage, fifth all time in passing TD's, twelfth all time in passing rating, 14th all time in completion percentage, 12th all time in game winning drives, 10th all time in 4th quarter comebacks, 8 Pro Bowls but....yeah....I guess he really never did anything, right?

To even say he hasn't had a career worthy of HOF consideration is utterly ridiculous.  His accomplishments aren't diminished because the league has had multiple HOF caliber QB's playing over the past 20 years any more than the other candidates would be. If you want the knocks against him, they would be the same as Dan Fouts, Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Jim Kelly or any number of other HOF QB's that either had little playoff success or never won a Super Bowl.

By the time he is eligible for the HOF he will most likely be 8th or 9th on the list in terms of yards.

I never said he wasnt a good player. He had a nice long good career but he is not a Hall of Famer.

Do you know what those QBs had though, either a Super Bowl victory or an All Pro season. 14 other QBs have won either a 1st or 2nd Team All Pro since Rivers became the starter.

Fouts had 3 1st Team All Pros and 1 2nd Team All Pro and a MVP, Marino had 3 1stTeam All Pros and 5 2nd Team All Pro and a MVP, Warren Moon had a 1st Team All Pro (by TSN, 2nd Team by AP) and a MVP and Jim Kelly had a 1st Team All Pro and 2 2nd Team All Pros.

Rivers would be the only QB EVER to have never won a Super Bowl or be named an All Pro to make it into the Hall of Fame as a QB. Every other QB has more than 1 combination of Super Bowl wins, All Pros or MVPs.

It wasn't just he always had to face Brady and Manning. He did but he also lost to the Jets twice the playoffs. Its also not just the playoffs, players like Wentz, Romo, Ryan, Jackson have all won All Pro honors when Rivers never has. In his entire career Rivers has 4 MVP votes. There have been 750 MVP votes cast in the years Rivers has been a starter and he has received 4! So he never had a single season where he was the best (or close to the best) at his position, he didn't have playoff success. The only thing he had was longevity and to me that is not enough to be considered one of the best to ever play.

Ben came from the same draft and didn't spend two seasons behind Drew Brees... his average year is lower.

Agreed. Big Ben also lost almost an entire year to injury too. I didn't say Big Ben was better or had better per season stats just that if he plays 1 more year he will likely pass Rivers on the all time passing list.

Ben is 3k behind and played an extra 2 seasons......

Rivers is one of the better passers of all time, never missed a single start in his career, is in the top 5 in passing yards at time of retirement, and did so while playing for one of the worst franchises in the NFL.

    Dude should be a HOFer.

Really only 1 more year. Rivers didnt start his 1st 2 years but you can't count Big Ben's 2019 season when he played 2 games as a season.

Rivers would be the only HOF to have never won a Super Bowl or been Named an All Pro (1st or 2nd Team). Since he became a starter there have been 14 different QBs who have been named either 1st or 2nd Team All Pro and none of those were Rivers.

Listen, you are asking me to fix the fact that you are an idiot. That is just simply outside my abilities to remedy.

How am I an idiot for pointing out the facts? Big Ben is 3,000 away, Ryan is 8,000, Rodgers is 12,000 yards behind and Stafford is 18,000 yards.

Not to mention 5th all time in career passing yardage in NFL history.

If Big Ben plays 1 more year he will most likely pass Rivers on the list, Ryan is 2 years away from passing him, Rodgers is probably 3 years away from passing him, Stafford is 4-5 years away. Rivers most impressive stat is that he played for so long. Its a lot to assume all will stay healthy enough to pass him.

If you played in the AFC during the Brady and Manning 1 years, you probably lost a lot of playoff games.

Add in the Steelers and Ravens in that Conference...and you probably lost a lot of playoff games.

He lost to the Jets twice too. If he is just the 3rd or 4th best in just the AFC during his time (not counting everyone in the NFC), is he really worthy of the Hall of Fame?

  7. Rivers has a lot of regular season stats. But only because he played for 17 years. He has 0 super bowls wins, 0 super bowl appearances. He only made it to 1 conference championship game (1-5 in divisional playoff games). 0 All Pro seasons, 0 MVP seasons. He lead the NFL in TDs as many times as he lead the league in INTs. Those are things the Hall of Fame is going to look at. He was a good consistent QB for a long time. I hate to say it but if Philip Rivers is a HOF then Matt Ryan is a 1st Ballot HOF.

Who was Rivers best WR? Vincent Jackson? He would be Ben’s 4th best WR

The pass blocking wise Ben had the edge.

RB I guess you can give it to Rivers he had LT for 3 seasons.

And coaching is not even close.

    Rivers had Gates though too

Oh, lol. Thanks for clearing that up.

ive never heard of Robert jones, but just checked the draft networks big board with 400+ players and he’s not even listed on there, so assuming he’s not very good

Me either, but I saw him on the Dolphins squad. He is from Middle Tennessee St. Small school offensive lineman that no one has heard of, sounds like a perfect Hurney pick for Washington

  10. How the hell does First Pick score the drafts. For the Panther I ended up with Lawrence falling to 8, Trey Smith in the 2nd. Ended up with 12 picks all A+ and it wasnt even a top 20 Panthers draft. Had another with 24 picks and 22 of the 24 were A+ and the other 2 were A and even farther off. The drafts arent reasonable but I just want to have a top draft lol

  11. I like PFF but there seems to be a glitch. I always seem able to trade down from 8 to SF for 12, 44, 113 and 153 this year plus their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th round in 2022 and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th round in 2023. Which I would gladly take but there is no way it would ever happen.
