IDK about that... fr I could see them carry 7.  Roberts is too valuable in the return game for them to let him go now, I mean we could be in for another dose of the Perryman situation. Whomever we put back to return kicks doesn't wow and Roberts is pulling off TDs or great returns elsewhere.

we love to bitch about rhule but ill still die on the hill that he is better than Rivera's circus

Bruh the Rhule hate blinders are so real, but I tend to agree with you.  For the success that RR had here, he's also had his great many blockheaded moves and tendacies.

Robby(ie) (and 1-2 mid rounds in '23/'24) to Bears for Smith?

Not likely, but looking like Bears need a WR we need a MLB. Not a fan of moving off Anderson but if it gets the MLB position solidified I gotta be objective and take it all day.

DJ, Robby, Roberts and TMJ are locks.

This leaves Higgins, Shi, Zylstra and Saunders fighting it out for either two or three spots.  At least one of them is getting cut.  I would assume Shi gets cut and perhaps signed to PS.

I honestly think Zylstra could be let go. Yeah he made some plays over the past couple seasons but his claim to the roster specifically last season was the fact that he contributes on ST. If his coverage responsibilities were covered otherwise I don’t see him making the roster. I mean CJ has been with the 1s almost all camp and impressing folks. TMJ is looking good, Shi coming along. We could have a hell of a young WR core. Higgins is probably a lock due to chemistry with Bake. We’ll see as this preseason unfolds. I just find it highly unlikely that they’d be giving out all these 1st team reps and then cut him at the end of it all.

Just prefer Higgins to Anderson is all. Saunders isn't going to replace Anderson on the outside. I get Anderson can run, I really do, but his stone hands probably cost the Panthers two games last year. Specifically remember one sequence where he dropped three straight.

Not a good look when a guy can go out and do that and be left in while a guy like Higgins may celebrate in practice and everyone gets to run.

I don’t think Saunders is a threat to replace anyone outside. I think he may be looked at as a Renfrow type slot/utility player. Has great fundamentals, decent athlete. But he’s not gonna blow anyone off the line.

  6. Has been practicing well in camp, a lot of reps with the 1s and making some plays. Additionally I’m wondering what the sudden interest in him has been, I mean they liked him last TC but he was mainly with the 3s/4s.

My question is, who should be more worried. Zylstra or Shi Smith?

Is CJ going to take over the ST responsibility of Zylstra or are they looking to use him in the slot as WR3/4.

I mean he is complaining about him getting a screen passed batted down...  I be he is an OSU fan that cried a single tear when Baker planted that flag on his teams' logo at midfield.

Hey now. Some of us OSU fans have to swallow their pride and root for their new QB 1 to succeed 😅😅

Darnold supposedly knows the offense better and yet Baker is still out-performing him… stop with the “splitting the reps is ok” because it’s not. If we go into week one and Baker struggles to get in a rhythm you shouldn’t have a problem figuring out why.

He’s been in rhythm with both 1s and 2s so far. He’s getting timing with both sets of receivers. I’m not worried about that much if at all. He’s even primarily working with Bozeman who should on all counts be the starting C. Him playing with both 1s and 2s isn’t as damaging as everyone is making out to be.

that’s means you have to play the starters the entire time Sam and Baker would be competing? Who wants that?  It would double up the time you play our starters in a meaningless preseason game 1.    It’s not a comp if one is with the 1s and one is with the 2s the next series.

It doesn’t necessarily double anything honestly. If your ones were gonna get 2/3 series anyways you just split between them. Your ones were gonna play the same amount no matter who is under center. Playing them both doesn’t mean they are both getting an entire qtr. I say 2/3 series 4 tops. Split it down the middle or if a series ended early on a dumb turnover or something.

I would've never signed someone with an obvious ceiling like Teddy Bridgewater (to a MASSIVE contract) and would've tanked only one year and had the choice of T Law, Wilson, Jones, Lance, Fields, etc while having a ton of money to build around them. Also, would've fired Hurney before selecting a head coach. Not that hard.

The good ole' I'll intentionally suck move, that really helps to build a team. Can't believe we've been missing on these FA/Trades by trying the winning culture thing. damn shame.

Because he is not any good. QBs like Darnold, Teddy, Mayfield, (post injured Cam), PJ Walker, Will Grier and all the reclamation projects is the worst possible way to run a team. We are the only team in the NFL interested in these type of players. I am sick of it and even if Baker has his best season ever its not like we are winning the division and 8-9 9-8 would just put us in no mans land again, gives Rhule another excuse and we rince and repeat with someone like Daniel Jones the next year. I am praying Corral works out b/c we will likely hurt our chance at another top QB in the draft again.

What would you have done? Traded for Stafford? For Russ? Draft Fields? What is the solution to this problem since people making a pretty penny to make the decision either haven't looked or done it so far.

I get that-I really do-but I think they really need to get to Corral while they have a chance.  He will be buried this season as the #3 and they have some huge decisions to make about the QB position this winter.  But to your point, by the second half of most preseason games, you are getting practice squad hopefuls, so it may be more harmful than helpful...

I'm sure MC will play a healthy bit 1 1/2 - 2 qtrs.  I just don't see it likely that Sam/Baker gets a drive a piece and then it's the MC show for most of the game, give him reps against the 2s/3s but when they start digging in the bag for players put PJ in to run the plays and let our bottom roster guys compete.

He's either coddling Darnold or not ready to admit they failed on evaluating him and handing him the starting job and 5th year option last year.

Not everything that happens inside the panthers building is an instance of coddling Darnold lmao.

I admit, I see no point in having this farce of a competition any longer, but to think there's an iota of a possibility of Sam as QB1 anymore is a masochistic way of looking at things, stop torturing yourself over it when everyone here, in the media, and in the locker room/ facility knows who QB1 is already.

QUESTION:  WHY?  You have 2 NEW QBs, a NEW OC, a NEW offense, and the real impact players need reps.  I hate Rhule's cockiness and his stupidity.  He Knows what Darnold is about, and PJ does not even belong in the league (below 50% completion rate).

After you get to the 3rd stringers your results would be skewed.  Going against objectively worse competition to appease the masses on The Huddle isn't going to do much for Baker, if they (Baker/Sam) play past the 1st I'd be big surprised. Then what? Leave MC out there to play 3ish quarters? Nonsense talk.

It is nice to have gone from 1 startling T in 2021 to 3 starting T (caliber) in 2022.  Through a 17 game season, that could be huge.

Def not a bad problem to have honestly, BC can swing sides. Ikey can swing sides if need be. I like not dreading Mike Horton or Daley getting a shot at LT.

He really can't help himself can he? Down the roster guys depend on preseason, as do young players and new guys to a system. Robbie is dense AF.

    Based.

With all of that being true; you're acting as if Robbie(y) Anderson is saying "To hell with you trying to make the team."

Really... just complaining to complain at this point.  Is a player not allowed to be ready to get to competitive football?

I wont be mad. I just want a dominant  O line. BUT...Christensen better show this year that he can be a reliable OT and not a practice warrior.

Brady showed enough to me last season that he should have been playing all year at LT. I don’t even attribute our poor OL play directly on Erving tho.. he was BAD, but the entire OL (Save for T Mo) was terrible. Our interior couldn’t stop a 4 man rush. The additions of Corbett and Boze right there help solve some of that. BC doesn’t play LG particularly well, atleast last season. He played LT at a more than respectable level imo. Ikey blows him out of the water on potential and talent..  but for this season atleast I’ll take our best line combo we can muster if Ikey gotta blow holes through people at LG then so be it. He won’t be a LG permanently unless by choice.

  17. I mean, I understand all that… but what if he still needs to learn, just being a top 10 player doesn’t mean you’re destined for the HoF. Maybe, just maybe, he still has growing to do in the position at this level. LT and QB are the most important positions right? QBs get drafted in the top 10 all the time and sit. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I don’t think it’s as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be as long as we get the 5 best OL on the field at the same time.
