49ers have all-pros at many spots, BUT they lack CBs and the one above all QB....
A LT too

i agree. people who say the number 1 pick doesnt matter are not very knowledgeable of the game. having your pick of the litter could be the difference between like u said cam or blaine.. or payton manning and ryan leaf... Get your guy first and not pick off the leftovers.
I wonder if the Bears felt the same way about Trubisky or the Browns about Baker....

I only have one name to say in relation to this argument, and if it wasn't for him a franchise would have been stuck in mediocrity with Blaine Gabbert.
#1 overall pick, 2011 NFL draft- Cam Newton
Sometimes the tank is worth it in order to have the choice of the guy you want. Poo me all you want on this post, but I'm sorry that I don't want to watch another failed retread get us to 5 wins again next year with no hope in the next year either.
Not true, they could have taken Von Miller AJ Green plenty of others that QB class was super weak after Cam.....
This team has never truly escaped mediocrity no back to back winning seasons and no super bowl championships.

Those 49er picks might be looking better than any of us expected them to look by the time this seasons over
That team has injuries all over the offensive line and the defense so they trade most of their draft for a RB that's some poo.

Chiefs spanked the 49ers like a badly behaved toddler.

No player is bigger than the team. It doesn't matter who that player is be mad when they leave but when the door shuts I don't give a *** what they want.

That or the 49ers losing directly benefits the Carolina Panthers.
For all I care he can go for 2000 and 25 TDs or do nothing as long as they lose. You seem to have an agenda however.

He was never a dick so I got no issue with him doing well. Seems like a good move for both teams
I doesn't matter really does it? I wish him well after this season. There does seem to be an odd faction in this thread hating on him for a reason I cannot quite define.

He has 50 yards so far - he landed in Santa Clara on Friday. He's looked explosive as hell in the limited touches he's had.
Hes undercover improving the Panthers picks.

I get it, but math is good on paper. In a practical and historical sense, does it really make that big of a difference? Top 10 vs top one, let's say, is the mathematical difference that huge, especially when juxtaposed against real results?
Most of the top twenty the percentage seems similar it only matters for people who fall in love with one player.

It means you have the pick of the litter. Don’t have to settle.
4 minutes ago, top dawg said:Great, but that doesn't answer the question within a historical context.
With context there is no one picking ahead to keep you from making your fug up.

Yeah but they go as far as Saquan goes ask us about the "give your RB the most touches in the NF" formula. It isn't built to last. They picked the right head coach though.
24 touches a game they will break him again.

I didn't leave him out. I specifically mentioned him. And he wasn't a top five pick.

It was an estimate, but I went and looked it up. I was probably being generous with the 25%
Here is the list of qb's picked in the top five since 2011 (I started with Cam). And the qb's picked after 2020, well the jury is still out.
2020
Burrow
Tua
2019
Murray
2018
Mayfield
Darnold
2017
Trubisky
2016
Goff
Wentz
2015
Winston
Mariotta
2013
Blake Bortles
2012
Luck
RGIII
2011Cam.
Personally, I would only call three of those picked in the top five elite. Cam, Luck, and Burrow. 3 out of 14.
I don't feel like looking up 6-10, but off the top of my head, we have Allen, Mahomes, and Herbert.
I think leaving Josh Allen out is pretty bad.
Edit*
That's picking hairs a bit but I see the point...
Josh Allen and Justin Herbert were #6 and #7.

It may already be on the roster. All of it.
Let’s see what a competent coach can do.
I could see Tommy becoming a threat if they involve him more but Ian I don't understand why they bother throwing him the ball.

With an actual coach that had a whole week of practice, it seems like we only need another WR and maybe can luck out on a QB. If PJ can pull a Geno and just be solid I have no problem with that. Seems like he's mentally worked through his INT problems
TE screams please please don't neglect me again.

Is he not playing well this year?
People think the QB has to light the world on fire he definitely isn't.
Daniel Jones has been the definition of a game manager.

I think this offseason is showing a state of the art head coach is the most important piece to the puzzle.

They called him a "generational talent" at QB. All the pundits said he was a "no miss" pick.
I just see an average QB that really hasn't done much so far in the league. Going #1 is still a crap shoot.
Panthers need to play to win and not put hopes on getting that "no miss" QB at #1.
Let the chips fall where they may. Get a quality HC and use the picks and FA to fill out the team.
They can find a good QB after the top two. Nothing is a sure thing.
And the Giants are proving you don't need a good QB to go 6-1

The NFL needs to implement a top five draft lottery to get rid of the tanking.
