  1. But not until he left here, so what does that say?

I guess that is something I just never understood. How can everyone yell from the mountain top that the WRs sucked the last few years, never get separation, drop easy passes, etc.  but at the same time they proclaim that Proehl is the best WR's coach in the league?

What makes Proehl so much better than the other WR coaches in the league but none of his WRs have done anything until he got a 1st round pick with Benjamin? I honestly have no idea if Proehl is good or not but apparently many people know he is but something just doesn't add up there.

    I know, I know....it's Shula's fault.

Well I wouldnt say none of receivers. Smitty credits Proehl for a lot of his growth back when Ricky was on the team. LaFell became a starter. . how many other 1st 2nd 3rds did we spend on receivers?

    You do the counting :)

(and when you remember who that other draft pick was dont forget to roll your eyes, he wasnt gonna be successful anyways)

edit: and Johnny Im not saying Proehl is a good coach because others are. Im saying it because with my own eyeballs, Im watching him make a huge difference in every receivers habits and techniques. Its just obvious to me and many others I suppose.

  2. If I was a professional athlete I would never sign anything for anyone, period. Autographs are the dumbest thing ever and I have never asked for one despite meeting a number of celebrities.

You would be hated and vilified at every opportunity.  lol I would find you hilarious and ridiculously ungrateful.

  3. as i said i did not get snubbed. just wanted to hear your thoughts on the difference of personality. i am not slamming cam in any way. i have been to camp for the last ten years and just wondered what triggered one to stay until the end and one to just sign a few.

I went a couple of years ago, the day that story broke about him taking off his shoes and handing them to the nice fatally diseased woman in a wheelchair, which happened to be right next to me. I can tell you that he seems to me to be the most motivated person in the world to make everyone happy and he really enjoys having that reciprocated with smiles and compassion imo.

Then there are people like you who may have some sort of preconceived notion of who he is, which usually leads to a disagreement between your brain and reality. What did you think he was going to be like? Smiles and spend 15 minutes with you? Be honest with yourself about that and then ask yourself how many people like you he saw that day.

  4. Looks like a knee injury ready to happen.  Isn't that what Hill was doing when he came down awkward?

Ive seen a guy go up about 24 inches and land on his left leg locked straight (ala Grammitica). He tore is acl pcl and mcl all in one shot. Had nothing to do with how high he was and everything to do with him losing focus on what he was doing imo.

  5. Im not sure I understand why this was so awkward for Cowherd. It sounded like to me that Harbaugh was in the middle of watching something and was taking his time giving genuine answers. Im not a big Harbaugh fan, but honestly what did Cowherd want him to do? Sing and tap dance?

He got to the big ten question and he asks " is it a 'BUY' week". . . I mean what the hell is Cowherd talking about? 99% of the time someone is going to translate that as "by-week" and probably be thinking your downplaying his division. Whats a "buy week" anyway? Who asks that? Then Cowherd gets agitated that Harbaugh isnt asnwering qustions we the same amped up Chiuahua energy that he's bringing.

    Harbaugh was like ". . . . Thrilled"

  6. In general you are right about the things you learned from the huddle. Challenge the group think and they literally poo themselves. It's quite funny actually.

It makes this place more like a humor forum than a real sports forum. I mean occasionally Zod will post a good tidbit and he's an honest man, but people here generally breed irrationality and its just not healthy for a sports fan to take seriously. There are a crap load of people trying to look cool on the internet these days. Is Idiocracy really happening before our eyes?

  7. You act like that means much. The game is about rushing the passer and defending the pass. Who cares if a MLB tackle a dude 10 yards down the field 5 more time than another. I don't really car about MLB play same as I don't care about the kickers. So, statistically(in tackles) Luke is the best MLB. There is no argument against that.

Do you kow who had the most sacks last year? Everybody should know that guy's name even more than Waaatttt. The hypocrisy here is that most people don't.

I wouldnt bother engaging people here, my man. It used to be a place where you could say speak your mind and get some good discussion but nowadays this place is more about who can deflect and belittle opinions. Let me tell you what I learned here at the Huddle about people in general.

    1) People dont like people who are opinionated and speak their opinions strongly. Its ok to make snarky and ignorant casual one liners as long as they are not so serious. You can say as many dumb things you like as like as you say it half jokingly or sarcastically enough.

    2) People dont like to be told when they are wrong. They have to "discover it" on their own so that they can feel like they accomplished something when they say it out loud proudly and make that thought their own. You cant really plant a seed so much like in Insurrection, you can only hope that a set events will happen in front of that person so that they will agree.

I will say tho, I like an mlb over a de in Luke's case but only when theres a special player that can out value the de position. I think he's that good. I would love to discuss it more with you but this is no longer the forum for that. This is just a place for people to post video's of chicks doing splits now, lol, good thread tho.

  8. Not directing this at you necessarily, or saying this is what you are doing, but in general people should stop trolling about this like it wasn't a legitimate problem. We essentially wasted Newton's first 3 seasons because the only offensive starter we managed to acquire through the draft before Kelvin Benjamin was Amini Silatolu, and he's likely going to be a backup on the OL at best now. Things are looking bright now thankfully.

I agree with Ed though, there is always a degree of sniveling.

    Eh Snivelers gonna snivel.

    Funchess sounds pretty good, uhmmmm
