Just found out that he is only 21 years old which is great.
If he wears a number in the 40s which is now eligible for LBs he will be able to line up at LB SS and RB. Just a cool thought
40s? He wore 7 in college...47. Worn previously by another first round tweener...

If this was our only pick, I wouldn't like it.
But this is part of the problem with splitting up the draft: very difficult as fans to see the big picture.
2nd round tackle? Jake Fisher
2nd-3rd receivers? Strong, DGB, Smith, Lockett, etc.
Look at our defensive personnel around him. Look at our defensive coaches. I cannot wait to see how they use this guy. Yes, he's a project, but unlike the Hornets drafting projects, I trust this staff to get the most out of him.

While I sorta like the pick, what ever happened to BPA?
With OT and WR being the most pressing need and Perriman being the highest rated available, why wasn't he drafted?
Everyone's BPA is different. Pundits thought Kelvin was overdrafted last year, too.

Yeah that's true. I just love talking basketball.
You're also good at it and contribute well in this part of the board. But you can't deny that taking six games to eliminate a bad Nets team is at least a little disconcerting.
-
At least we have a title in professional sports.
Well, with 3 teams in town for the better part of 50 years (plus Flames and Thrashers) I'd hope eventually the odds would be in your favor.

You're on a Carolina board. Ignorance about Atlanta teams is the norm.
Just like Atlanta postseason disappointment.

Damn the Cavs GM saying it's highly unlikely that Kevin Love returns during the playoffs this year. That's a tough break.
Actually it was just a dislocation...

It's disingenuous to say a 60 win team that won like 19 or whatever in a row has been phony all season. They had a remarkable stretch, it just looks like they've fallen back to what they were supposed to be.
And where they're supposed to be is a talent level comparable to the middle to lower end of the East.
Never underestimate the fact that the Hawks have to put "Atlanta" in front of their name.
Atlanta and Toronto like to play a finesse style of basketball that can get easily exposed in the playoffs by the defense-first, slow-it-down teams.

Anybody over Gurley if he somehow gets to 25.
-
We don't need a guard guys. Collins ceiling is a phone booth RT.
This is why I hate this spot if Gurley isn't there. Past about pick 20 it feels like most of these guys are second round grades being forced into the first round because it's a weak draft.

or we should trade down to acquire as many 7th round picks as possible.

24th pick is in, get ready for commercial.
We have a winner!
-
Gurley to Detroit with the caveat that because Gurley is there that could be a spot for Detroit to trade out because they have more pressing needs.
Would be a fantastic spot to trade up if this was the case.
-
Gurley will get picked by the AZ reporter
That's exactly what I'm thinking. And it would be gut wrenching if that's how the draft ended up.

Raptors are a team to watch now. Casey probably gone. If Ujiri is out too they could blow it up.
Outside of MKG I would trade our entire roster for theirs player for player.

!!
First signs of happiness and excitement in this forum since...*checks schedule*...the March 8th Detroit game.
Ugh.

Welp ... Nets nab the 8th Seed and a loss to the Hawks and a crap Draft pick, lol. Fun times.
Ironically that draft pick will become Atlanta's since they have the right to swap picks with Brooklyn.
-
I think he gets one more season, if the team isn't in the playoff hunt at the trade deadline next season, you'll see a full on fire sale and the team will decided to start over with a new era. not involving the Staals.
With Eichel and McDavid in the draft, that's what should have happened THIS season, but the Canes managed to play their way right out of striking distance.

This will be more Florence/Mikell than Cason/Decoud, provided he stays healthy of course.
From all indications, he was the Bears' Thomas Davis in terms of leadership and off the field activity. If a team were to sign a 32 year old linebacker with three ACL surgeries, how would fans of that team with little to no knowledge of the Panthers or TD respond?
The only thing to worry about is if the staff plays him too much over someone better, but even if he is benched, he seems like a player who will gladly take that role of a mentor to a young and aggressive secondary.

Great guy but someone assure me this isn't Cason part 2.

Dont understand the huddles love of shaq. the guy has no instincts. truthfully he sucks and is a average nfl athlete if you look at sparq ratings.
Ability to play safety, linebacker and running back in college and he's an "average" athlete? Okay...

Seems to be alot of similarities between the pro-Hardy and anti-Martin crowd and vice versa.

Yeah we have an older Okafor on our roster already. And we all know how that has worked out.
Okafor = Al Jefferson
Towns = DeMarcus Cousins
Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select Shaq Thompson

I'm all for complaining, but when you have a GM that has nailed the past two drafts it's difficult to be less than optimistic.
