It's a passing league. . Rules are getting made every year to help the passing game..
We will have to make a comeback every once in a while.. And you can't do that with Bersin and Cotchery on the field. .
And yet the Seahawks continue to be one of the best teams in the league. You can still win running the football and playing elite Defense.

No team should draft a RB in the 1st. You can put 5th-7th rounders or udfa's at RB and still be good if you take care of your other areas. This would be dumb.
No, what would be dumb is reaching for need when there's a true difference maker on the board. THAT would be dumb.

Why are people bringing up Kuechly in a thread about getting mad at Gettleman for picking a RB in the first?
-
I am more concerned with his ability to pick up the pass rush.
Which he does very well for a college back.
-
S04 gave you guys a pretty good run and they are 5th in Bundesliga. I wouldn't be so sure that Bayern and PSG are your only threats.
The way Real Madrid is playing right now anyone can beat them.
-
Don't laugh. RB value has never been lower and he is coming off major knee surgery.
I wouldn't be surprised if he is still around late in 2nd
Any other tired cliches you care to use? I would take that bet right now. Hell I might even take the bet that Gurley isn't there when we pick at 25.
-
Gurley could've easily been a Top 10 pick. If he's there at 25 and he's the highest player on the board, I definitely see the Panthers pulling the trigger.
All depends on how he checks out physically and if Panthers are confident he'll stay healthy.
Yep...if he's healthy he's arguably the best skill player in this entire Draft. getting that at 25 would be incredible.
-
100% of it. It's always a piece of the puzzle.
I'd be curious to hear your take on why so many highly drafted USC skill position players have failed to live up to their billing. What causes NFL teams to continue to miss in their evaluations?
Or is butthurt fan just butthurt?
Dwayne Jarrett & Mike Williams had a poo work ethic and people even knew this. Steve Smith had injuries that derailed his career after it appeared like he was breaking out. Patrick Turner wasn't nearly as good as people wanted him to be. David Ausberry has turned into a decent #2 TE. Jordan Cameron is one of the better TE when healthy. Jury is out on Kiffins first two WR, but Woods is certainly trending in the right direction.

butthurt USC fan
When a school as produced as many skill position busts over the past 15 or so years as USC has, it's something you have to factor into your evaluation. I don't know what the root cause of it is, but it's real.
What percentage of on field talent is impacted by the uniform you wear in college? Can I get that in a pie chart? Ignorant argument is ignorant. For any school.
-
fug hardy. he fuged this team with his poo decision making.

Did I say that?
All I'm saying is that when you're assessing that individual ability, you also have to factor in the surrounding talent. There's an absurd history of USC producing busts at the skill positions.
There's an absurd history of them producing phenomenal players too. But history doesn't mean much in terms of evaluating an individual player. If you can't look past the jersey you probably shouldn't be making statements about a players ability (not specifically saying you either). It's just an ignorant argument that's often used to dismiss players from whatever school year after year.
-
You can say the same for USC skill position players. Bust after bust after bust after bust.
I guess there's no need to evaluate players on their individual ability then. Same goes for the Bama RB too.
-
If we could grab him in the 2nd, we would be quite lucky
-
Not sure how I feel about this to be honest.
This means we're truly about BPA, not BPN. Awesome news.
Gurley was on pace for over 2000 rushing yards against top level competition. This makes sense.

Is this done now?
yea...i'm pretty sure we're done.

No reason to freak out over losing Stevie Johnson . Patriots
don't necessarily need a WR. NE was probably trying to find
value. Wasn't there.
I would argue 3 years at 3.5 per is pretty good value for Stevie tbh.

My point was that a gm shouldn't listen to what fans want. Once again we got a cap to worry about. I don't mind signing a mid tier wr or cb as long as we are not overpaying for him. And generally teams tend to do that the first few days of free agency. Patience is a virtue.
There have been numerous quality signings at value rates already. Obviously the huge deals are going to be pointed out more, but the values are there.
-
I don't care about what the "majority" wanted and neither should a gm of any team or any businessman for that matter.
Surely i wouldn't want to fit in with the majority..otherwise i'd be a cowboys fan...
and no thank you.
So that's a no....you're gonna lump everyone with questions in with the few who had irrational expectations. Have fun with that.
-
Sometimes the only way to get a point across to people is to go to that length..otherwise they still don't get it
Or you acknowledge that the majority wanted a mid-tier free agent that wouldn't eat up all our cap space. That doesn't fit the argument though.

And yet his team has been in the playoffs back to back seasons.
And we had our best rookie class ever.
Plus we're getting out of our salary cap hole.
And we're pretty well positioned for the future.
Oh but wait, he didn't throw all our cap money at a guy you wanted on the second day of free agency with months to go and the draft still upcoming.
You're right. He must not know what he's doing
Again with the extremes....

Who said anything about big name players? People operate in too many extremes. There is middle ground you know.

The rest of Hardy's issues choosing the wrong woman to have relations with.. Another thing that happens to normal dudes on a daily basis. .
Not exactly a great decision either...
And it's not just choosing the wrong woman. It's ending the relationship and going back to her.

Paul Pogba is really good, but he's not worth what a club will inevitably pay for him.
Probably not. At least not yet. You're also buying him for the ceiling he's not even close to though.
-
Wenger will pay 50m for Pogba but no more, if Madrid is wishing to drop 55-60m on Pogba then good luck. Wenger will pick up whoever Madrid will sell at discount.
Not just Madrid. PSG/United/Arsenal/Madrid and a horde of others all showing interest. He'll be 60m plus.
