Well, not exactly. There was still Public Health experts, and leaders that would not follow what other experts did either. "The Social climate was one of insecurity and fear, as the population questioned the effectiveness of the control measures that were undertaken. Including the school and church closures, banning of public events and hospital visits" This was written in 1918. It is eerily similar to today.

You didn’t acknowledge anything I mentioned other than someone’s thoughts.

It’s over 100 years ago, we have technology that is leaps and bounds over what they had, we can spread the word in a blink of an eye, have millions of folks get knowledge with a notification on their phone, have proper schooling, education, etc. Not to mention the health care system is so much better than it was then as well.

All of those things should have made us better prepared to respond to something than they did in 1918.

The scary thing is.. is people think the disagreements on lock-downs, mask, response, treatments etc... is only because of Trump, or certain people. Back in 1918, there was the same uncertainties and disagreements on treatments and response during a Pandemic.. I wonder what was going on during that time...

You shouldn’t be able to compare our response and approach on this virus to how we did in 1918.

They got information by mail, telegraph, or newspapers. It would take days at times to spread word. The population density was much less, and science and knowledge and schooling isn’t what it is today. We should have, and have the expectation that we would respond better than in 1918 when it comes to knowledge, masks etc

This reminds me of the south park episode, where cartman is freezing himself cause he cann't wait for the wii to come out. He does and ends up being much later in the future. Religion is no more, science controls the world, but theres a catch. 2 groups are fighting cause they feel their science is truly correct and otters have evolved into a science lead group too. Such a great and brilliant series.

They spend most of episodes trashing the others scientific beliefs and soon a war is inedidable.....Ine - ine - inedidable... During one scene the group of otters is preparing to attack while the others attack each other. A wise one comes into the scene and starts talking about how they shouldnt care that the groups dont eat on their tummies or need to cut trees down for tables. How they should see their way of thinking and compromise. Then some rando otter says "Kill the wise one!".  Its a three parter too, if I remember right.

Scientists have been getting brought since the term started, just follow the money. The truth and non-basis testing is all but gone, each group feel they need to lie for the "Greater good" now too. They want results to state what they believe and thats plain wrong. To sum it up, people suck no matter what.

In that same episode the reason why that “war” started was because Mr Garrison had a sex change and “wanted to get fuged like a monkey” by the atheist. He then found out that he was actually a dude and poo went down hill.

I love South Park, and it’s a really well done show, but don’t use it (especially an episode from 10-15 years ago) to win an argument that science isn’t correct here with Covid

Common sense should overrule false science. Newsflash: scientists can be wrong and often have been.

I was about to back up what I said with information from the association of surgeons and physicians that proved my point that THOSE ARE THE WRONG MASKS, but you shut me down. Not my fault oh one who knows EVERYTHING.

So post the info on facts on masks? I’m interested to know honestly

  5. So trump and the WH want to get all numbers and cases directed to them first, before sharing with the cdc, is that not a red flag to anyone?

also, how will that affect tracking and results on google etc now

Totally pointless.  Governor just knows his state is a mess....so he announces he did “something”.   Which is nothing.

Everyone that would have been in the bar at 11:30 drinking....will still be in the same bar drinking until 11pm.

Which is funny because I’m pretty sure Trump was praising how well SC was doing and was applauding their reopen....

now after everyone from Ga, NC, NY and NJ went there for Memorial Day, and 4th of July it’s a poo show

    Does anyone really care?

You obviously do as you compared brought it up from former presidents? Because it’s on *tax payer dime*

if he’s played twice as much in half the time at his own resort you don’t see that as a problem?

Rounds of golf in 8-years as President.

G.W. Bush (#43)......24* rounds of golf in 8 years...3 per year.

Barry Obama (#44)......333* rounds of golf in 8 years...42 per year.

(*all on "the tax payers dime")

How does that compare to current President?

In Event 201 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation + The Johns Hopkins University, the simulated Pandemic Preparedness Exercise happens identical to what is currently happening ..

In Event 201, states open up too quickly and a second wave worse than the first ends up happening and things shut down again ..

Event 201 .. it was October 18th 2019 in NYC .. the same day the Military Games in Wuhan, China began

    Wtf are you rambling about?

To those only looking at mortality rate to judge the seriousness of this pandemic, I think that's a significant error.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-effects/scientists-just-beginning-to-understand-the-many-health-problems-caused-by-covid-19-idUSKBN23X1BZ

How are they able to link all those problems and ongoing risk if they’ve only started to learn about its ya 60-90 days ago? Wouldn’t that be premature to say it has lasting affects or that many people won’t recover when we’ve only been studying it for 3 months?

US new cases are up to 40k a day.  We might go back to Phase 1 if this continues.

I’m open to it, but doubt it happens now. The genie has left the bottle the last 30 days or so and no way it’s going back

  12. Yeah I went to Hendrick Honda of Concord about two weeks ago and not a single employee was wearing a mask, no sanitizer out for us to use, and maybe 1 out of 10 customers were wearing a mask.

I was the odd ball in a mask and ended up sitting outside just because I didn’t want to sit in their waiting room with no care to distancing or masks

Gastonia has 312% covid cases increase over the last 2 weeks.

Is that because their numbers were so low? It reminds me of fox sports saying skips show was the fastest growing sports show in America. Well if you go from 0 to 1 it’s super growth.

also, ironic too cause they had a person saying to defy the gov a few weeks ago and open back up right?

As testing capacity increases in SC, the death rate continues to drop even as positive cases increases.  I hypothesized this while back. In SC, we are now at 3.8% mortality rate even going by scrupulous calculation of confirmed positive tests only.  As we all know by now, there are a lot more people that contracted this virus that were not tested, have not been and will not get tested (past, present and future).  Again, my gut feeling is once all the dust settles down the road and scientists delve into the data producing HONEST and UNBIASED results, the true mortality rate in America will be around 1%.  Still very high compared even a really, really, really bad flu season, but not the death sentence it was made out to be initially.

So in theory if we produced the tests ahead of time, or had a steady stream and plan to get testing to the masses we could have known it sooner.

    Like confirmed positive cases.

    Gotcha.

Any idea why they make the age range like this?

    18-24 = 6 year range

    25-49 = 24 year range

    50-64 = 14 year range

    65-74 = 9 year range

seems very vague to not break it down more in the 25-49 range (selfishly at 31 I would like to know)

New cases or confirmations? Cases just means tested right?

Health Secretary says they are not seeing spikes in places that are reopening, but seeing bad trends in places that remain closed.  We will see how that fleshes out.

    How is that even possible

That's fine.  But just realize it's going to happen.  And when it does, you can keep saying "not now" but it's not going to change it.

    Link? What happened?

"no idea if that the real arrest videos or not". That was my reply again no idea if thats the real one or not. Her message is not "this is my arrest video" either. Dont get hung up on a 2 second clip, this isnt a CBS deal or nothing. About nothing would surprise me about sending police to someones home. Ive asked a few friend cops and they say "it depends on how bored we are" was the main reply.

If you want a video to be taken seriously, and not instill fear and create anxiety don’t include fake poo to drive a narrative. There’s no way that those swat members and clip is from her arrest, and the video is putting it there to drive the narrative of “wow look how wrong she was treated, they really didn’t want her to speak out see! They raided her house with 40 swat members full armed!”

hell I lived in the same apartment complex last year where the UNCC shooter lived and they “raided” his apartment with far less force and less swat.
