  1. I'm usually try not to be negative. But why in the heck did we hand the offense over to Shula! Just look at his track record. He was never good at conducting a good offense

Rivera promoted Shula because it was the "safe" thing to do.  Now Rivera's job is in danger, the season is in danger of being on the brink of meaningless, and the team is in danger of being blown the hell up.

  2. some of us saw this coming.

others complained that we weren't giving him a chance. that it was because of the situations he was thrown into. that after all this time surely he's gotten better.

i was hoping that they were right. they weren't, although still some blame the players, just like at tampa and 'bama.

i see a more likely common denominator other than shula's just unlucky.

i see an inept offense. i see a lack of scoring. i see a lack of readiness. i see a lack of preparation. i see a lack of execution. i see a lack of ability to adjust. i see a slow paced offense with a lack of excitement, energy, ambition, and inspiration.

    i see shulaball.

    Lol at shulaball.
  3. While Carolinas front 7 is better NEs is nothing to write off. They have 3 lbs that were all highly drafted Spikes, Hightower, and Mayo

Their line has Wilfork who is a HoF lineman and Chandler who if not for Kuechly being all world would be the best defensive prospect to come out of the 2012 draft

    Don't forget Ninkovich.

Yeah, their line is not exactly trash.  I could see how people who aren't familiar with the Panthers giving the Patsies D-line the nod, but I still think that some of it is just due to the Patriots reputation for winning in general.  I suspect that everyone will know our D-line by mid-season, and Bills fan will get a terse introduction this Sunday.

  4. I actually think there is validity in both arguments. We didn't take enough shots, there was poor execution during key parts of the game, and D-Will's fumble was the last nail in the coffin and the epitome of s_n_a_t_c_h_ing defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Now, I fully expect us to rebound and beat the Bills (If we don't, then it's going to be a long season on the field and especially in the Huddle), but the real test is going to come in week three against the Giants.  Beat the Giants, and we're 2-1 heading into the BYE, and all of these whiny, bitchy, ill-informed, extreme threads will gradually disappear.

  5. These days, you should probably add an 'i' to that title :(

You're NOT old, my friend. I already told you that I reject that notion being that we are the same age. But, think about it...everybody knows that Seniors rule!  Reading glasses and a few grey hairs belie wisdom and power.

  6. I have no doubt Barner will be a star in this league but he may not receive much opportunity.  He has a couple of high salaries in front of him and I seriously doubt carolina will place those salaries on the bench in favor of Barner. I expect to see him on KOR and possibly screens, unless there is an injury, I dont see him running out of the backfield much this year.

Barner will get his opportunities to be productive, regardless if it's out of the backfield or not. But, in regards to the backfield, I don't think salaries in front of him will be taken into account in the slightest if he proves to be able to move the chains. Rivera isn't the type of guy who is afraid to sit a man down if he believes the back-up is apt to be more effective. Politics be damned on the sidelines. Everyone wants the player on the field that affords the team the best chance to win (not saying that Barner is or isn't that guy).

  7. Nice write-up, Zod. If I didn't know any better I'd think that you must have used a ghost writer (LOL).  Seriously, it's nice to see Barner stepping up. He has his entire life, and I'd be highly disappointed if he doesn't do the same in the NFL.
