I think I remember my grandma using lard to cook. My mom on the other hand I don't remember her using it. Times indeed change.lol

I also remember eating liver pudding and eggs sometimes on a sandwich.lol

Man it's crazy looking back on what we use to eat.

I've gone back to pre 70/80's style cooking for the most part.

I use lard, real butter, save bacon grease, etc....very little refined sugar, and not scared to deep fry any longer.  Lost a ton of weight.

Collards and Ham Hocks are a pretty normal southern dish.

They say the ham hocks are the main ingredient for the flavor of the collards.

I didn't intend for them to be back to back, as she used them to flavor every veggie she consumed.

Used lard, tons of salt, lived to 90.

POTENTIALLY---I think the WR room has never been better.  I saw signs from Marshall last year that told me he was ready to turn the corner--and Shenault should have broken out last year but the coaches thought he was to be the designated screen WR...So, if all factions step up as I realistically expect, we can say we have never been as deep or as good--even when we had Smith, Moose, and Proehl---I think this group could be very special.

A QB who gets you the ball on time and in stride makes you better--Cam rarely threw after planting his drop foot--when the pass is supposed to be thrown--maybe the WRs were not open, maybe he was not reading the defense quickly--or maybe both were at play.  Secondly, Cam's accuracy was not elite by any means. He used his arm strength to atone for his late delivery, and the increased velocity created a ball that was tougher to catch and not on target. That leads to more dropped passes, fewer Yards after the catch--Cam as a passer was not top 10 ever--as an overall force at QB--he was.  So now we have that passer who reads quickly, throws an easier ball to catch, and gets the ball out on time.

Some will be angry at this, but watch the tape and look at the number of completions and drops.  Watch film where he does not throw after planting the back foot.

Another point--Cam was not a good screen passer for some reason.  That is a play that protects the QB because it keeps the pass rush honest.  Young is good at that--so I expect to see improved WR play based on QB alone.

In fairness to Cam, Bryce is not going to bulldoze LBs and scamper for 50 yards on third and 32.

Somehow how, we have drafted two QB's no. 1 overall in our brief history.

Both of them from the SEC.  Both of them Heisman winners.  Both won college National Championships.

And somehow, their games couldn't be any further from each other.  Was discussing this on draft night.

Someone not mentioned in the passing game has been Miles Sanders.  He caught a lot of passes out of the backfield in his rookie season.  He might not be CMC but he can definitely contribute adding another dimension and safety valve for our young QB. Also, it is one more thing for the opposing D's to have to worry about. The Panther offense needs to move the chains and not keep their D on the field as much as in the past few seasons.

    Came in to post this.

Miles is a very good back, and should be a joy to watch in the screen game, which I love.

If Thielen can stay healthy, I think we are in for a fun offense, and Hurst could pop...wouldn't shock me.

Definitely.  There was a lot of speculation in New England, almost an expectation, that he would retire a couple of years ago.

I thought maybe he was grooming McDaniels to be his successor.  Either McDaniels got impatient (bad move on his part given his shortcomings), Hoodie rethought that, or he has no definite plan on when he will step aside.

Tea leaves certainly looked that way to me...maybe Kraft asked him to stay after Brady left to boost team value?  He's up there as well.

If corral stays healthy and stays in the team he might get some playing time imo. I'm not wishing injury on Dalton or Bryce but if that does happen to either of them,  corral has an in

I too hope they give him an honest look, he's young, and under contract already, may as well see what he's got at camp.

i still dont do it, but id say moving is the key. the how what why is up to you.

    Bingo.

I figured out past 30, it's best for me not to sit down much, other than required amounts at work....pounds were piling up with little change to diet.  Easiest thing for me to do was to close the computer, turn off the tv, and well...start moving.  Now I don't stop....ever.

Went from being a "little fluffy" to downright thin.  At college weight now.  Don't love traditional means of "working out", so I work.

Building sheds, buildings, decks, bump out walls with fireplaces, planting gardens and trees, power washing, etc...

Love southern California's class disparity and cost of living but hate the nice weather? Oh I have the place for you....

The coldest Winter I ever spent was a Summer in San Fransisco.

And to the people saying SF or Charlotte?  Well, for me, it's Charlotte, but in this case Charlotte isn't really Charlotte...it's likely a penthouse in Charlotte and a Mansion on the water on Lake Norman.

I'm taking the penthouse, the lake house, the weather and the lower taxes.

He might have been a lot more willing do that but then Brady went and got a ring without him and that has folks chirping that the Pats' success was a lot more about Tom Brady than it was about him.

Thats where I don't get it....

Brady is moving on....why not do the same and go spend the time with your wife and kids that you haven't had in the past 40 years?

Maybe you hate your wife and kids, or maybe they hate you, but gosh, I hope I'm never in that spot.

I think he really wants to prove he can have a high level of success post-Brady. It's all about ego IMO. Mac Jones ain't it and I think he knows it. Hell, might as well give Bailey Zappe a legit shot.

Man, I gotta be honest, ego is something that is very foreign to me, at least once you have proven yourself.

At some point, what's left to prove?  Just go enjoy what little time you have left with your family and friends.

Sadly (or not) all of those names are legitimately on the hot seat, although I don't know that Smith's seat is especially warm unless they completely crater.  The Falcons were better last year than most people thought they would be.

Whether McDaniels is safe depends more on Davis' bank account by the end of the year than anything else.  He could go limping back to New England and the safe cover of Hoodie again.

Starting to wonder just how much longer Bill is going to be up in New England?

Were I in his shoes, retirement would have been pretty high on my "to do list" after the last couple seasons.

  13. Less than 6 wins and someone may lose their job, although I doubt it, if we stay somewhat healthy that is.

Team will likely start a little rough and come on a little later in the year.  A close to .500 record would be a good thing.  10 wins would be a great thing.

Why is Brian Burns underrated by his own fanbase so much?

No clue, but JH is a more dominate player on defense.

BB is a good to great pass rusher, but he certainly struggles vs. the run, and is a bit too small to be able to move all over the place ala Peppers.

JH is an All Pro level talent, BB is a Pro Bowler, IMO.

Yep, Brady and Bill's preparedness plus that weak division will never be replicated for that long of a time. They had nearly 20 years of division ineptitude that almost guaranteed 5 or more wins and a division title every year. I each year maybe one team out of the four would get a win, but that was about it. Then everyone would have to go to Foxboro in January in the playoffs.

Said that very thing for years.  Yes, Brady is very good.  Yes, Bill is very good.

That can be said, and also ask a simple question.

Who was the best QB not named Brady to play in the AFCE during his two decades there?  And how long did he play?

Been a while since I thought much about it, but I believe I remember it being Chad Pennington, and only for a couple years.

    Thats some serious ineptitude.

TMJ I think is a legit breakout candidate this year. You look at his production once Rhule was fired and he actually saw the field - and especially given the poor QB play - and I think he's going to give us high-end #2 production if not low-end #1 production this year.

With Bryce Young at QB and Reich/Thomas Brown running the offense I think we're in much better shape at WR than a lot of people think. It would not surprise me a bit to see TMJ + Mingo + Thielen emerge as a very viable starting WR trio by the end of the season.

If we can utilize Miles Sanders' skills as a receiver out of the backfield better than the Eagles did the last few years that will add a whole different dimension to our offense as well. Maybe not quite CMC-level, but Sanders does have the ability to come pretty close as a receiver.

Why the Eagles didn't take advantage of it more after his rookie season I'll never know.

May not be one of Hurts' stronger points?  I mean, we had certain things that we didn't do very often with Cam.  Who knows, or maybe it's just the offense?

Either way, I think that the offense in general should take a pretty big leap this season, at worst, it should look like a normal offense that knows what they are doing.

I expect to see very good game plans this season.
