I love the idea of Sweat as well, but I have no idea of what would be too high for him. I’d be happy to take him with one of our second rounders, but that might be over drafting, but I’d be celebrating lol

I would be ok with him at 39. Not having to worry about dline will be nice

I’d also prefer McConkey or Corley over Leggette lol.

Breakouts can certainly happen and they can carry over to the NFL but I personally would rather have the more consistent and fundamentally sound players.

Otherwise we’ll be spending too much time trying to figure out how to make our athletes good football players when we could have just drafted good football players to begin with.

Unfortunately I think McConkey is gone by our pick. Corley I like but playing at Western Kentucky he rarely played against really good competition. I like Legette over Corley but Ladd is my #1 of WRs that I think could possibly be there at 33.

Ladd - Adonai - Legette - Worthy - Coleman - Corely - Polk - Franklin - in that order for me.

Wilson may have injury concerns but Cooper has some concerns in his own right.

Why did it take him four years to produce at a high level? In Cooper’s three previous seasons he only totaled half a sack (though he hardly played his freshman year).

Don’t get me wrong, Cooper had a great season but it could simply be because he’s bigger and faster than his competition now, he won’t have that luxury in the NFL.

Wilson in the other hand has been elite since his sophomore season.

The production argument is the same that could be said about Legette. Breakouts can happen but I agree with you that Wilson has been more consistent. It's just hard to overlook Cooper last season. He just popped.

  4. T'Vondre Sweat (DT): I absolute love the thought of him in the middle with Brown and Robinson right beside him. Shy Tuttle while good as a rotational piece isn't the space eater that Sweat is. The thought of having him on the line is super exciting.

Edgerrin Cooper (LB): I know the board loves Payton but I like this guy even more and comes without the injury concerns. He can blitz and is extremely fast. He also is good in coverage.

Khyree Jackson or Cam Hart (CB): I just want one of those big body CBs that can be taken in the mid rounds.

Ja'Lynn Polk (WR): I really like this WR. He seems to be a great WR to take over for Thielen when he moves on. Love his hands and is a bit shifty. Doesn't have breakaway speed but really like the potential with him in the slot. I do like other WRs better but don't see too much written about him.

As much as I would like to have an EDGE, I haven't seen too many that I really like.

What do you all think of these players and who are some of your random draft crushes?

  5. Young core is fantastic and fun when Gordon doesn't slow this team down or Terry isn't pounding the rock for 15 seconds of the shot clock. If only we can get lucky and get a Desmond Bane 3 and D type player at the SG position and this team will be amazing.

I also have a good feeling that Nick Smith Jr can be a nice 6th man if developed properly. The few times he enters the game, he has the right mentality and the game doesn't seem to big for him.

Fun future IF we don't do anything stupid on and off the court!

Which is why I wanted Scoot but we got Miller now so got to support him and hope he works out!

  7. I wanted Scoot but I am fine with Miller. We needed a shooter and he does have good size. The reason I like this pick better than when it was first announced was how happy Lamelo was that we picked him. He facetimed him and seems to really like him.

Now, I do like the other picks as well. Overall, nice draft just not flashy since we didn't go with Scoot.

Before you judge hear me out...

The Hornets are in desperate need of a culture change. Draymond Green is a vet who plays winning team basketball. He's not what he once was, but he is still productive. But the main reason I think he could help the Hornets is him leading a new culture. He is a vocal guy and will hold the young guys accountable every night. Not only that he is a guy you know will have his teammates back. We need a ruff ryder on this team. We just have too many laid back guys. Hayward is supposed to be our vet leader but he's too laid back and always injured. This team needs a voice in the locker room and a guy who will change the culture of the team.

Would Draymond be a good fit with the Hornets?

I agree we need someone like Draymond here. We don't have an outspoken leader on this team. Miles was our most intense player that we had and we missed that last year. Since it looks like Miles will be back that fills the intense player part but we are still lacking the veteran toughness. I hate players like Draymond, Kyle Lowry, Steven Adams, Brooks and Morris twins but they do bring something that we don't have so I wouldn't be opposed to bringing a player like that in the locker room.

We are too nice on the court currently.

If Kup settles on Miller I think this is one of the reasons.  Maybe he is also confident they can resign Lamelo.  I totally hear the fit being better with Miller on the current roster.  I think Scoot is better and I take him but the argument is strong.

There is no way that any competent GM in the league would ever say DSJ is even a sliver of a reason not to draft Scoot. Either we are completely overvaluing DSJ or completely undervaluing the potential in Scoot!

Yes, the idea of a 6'7 PG paired with a 6'9 SG (Miller) is enticing, I am worried about him being able to keep up with the quicker SGs that the league has. He also doesn't have the strength for the stronger SFs. We are going to have the same issue pairing our 6'7 PG with a 6'2 (Scoot) shooting guard but for some irrational feeling I do feel better even on defense with the Melo/Scoot backcourt.

The elephant in the room nobody is adressing is we already have a Scoot kind of player with Dennis Smith Jr.

DSJ emergence last year is yet another reason why I think the pick will be Miller.

Elephant in room? DSJ is a reason not to take Scoot. Jesus man that makes absolutely no sense at all. A 6 yr PG who was almost out of the league and came and is a solid backup to 3rd string PG is really a reason for not picking Scoot?? I like Miller and would be fine drafting him but this take is worse than the ones you are complaining about that are only talking about Millers off court issues.

Can he really play multiple positions though?  He is a lightweight at SF. He is tall at SG but not exactly a big SG.  I prefer a prototype SG at like 6'6" 220.  He has as much positional versatility as scoot. Scoot is a PG/$G and Miller is a SG/SF. Miller is gonna have to hit the gym to become a SF. He is playing SG his rookie season mostly. Scoot can play SG and PG from day one and with healthy minutes at either. As far as shooting the lights out. I think Miller is hot and cold. I don't see the consistent "lights out" you do. Scoot is a dawg. He gonna make things happen every night, whether he shooting lights out or not. Man, we can find a streaky SG/SF with height and length at 27. Hell, probably in the second round this year.  He's gonna make a heck of a role player on a contending team but Scoot has star power.  Agree to disagree but I don't trust Melo to stay healthy anymore and my plan is is make the combo in the backcourt of Melo and Scoot work and if Melo can't play we got a backup plan.

Man, I have been wanting Scoot to team up with Melo and didn't even consider this point and to be honest this is super valid as well. We have a running mate with Melo if Melo is able to stay healthy. Pretty much just switching Terry for Scoot which is an obvious upgrade. Then we have a backup option in case injuries happen as well. I didn't think I would get talked in to wanting Scoot more but you did it!

How can Scoot be a #1 when Miller is a better shooter and scorer?

Miller is a better shooter yes but to say that automatically translates to a better scorer is just flat wrong. Taking someone off the dribble and finishing in the paint or shooting a midrange that is scoring as well.

What it boils down to is this:

I am more confident that Scoot can develop his 3 point shot over Miller being able to improve his athleticism and start taking people off the dribble.

  13. Give me Scoot!!! Haven't read through all this but Scoot has a chance to be special, a #1 on a team. I think Brandon Miller, while good, is at best a #2 or more likely #3. A Melo, Scoot, Miles, PJ and Mark lineup would be fantastic! It would be a lot of fun and I am not worried about defense. Mark has shown that he could be an anchor on defense and clean up any mistakes our guards can make.

I just want this pick as bad as I wanted the Monk pick. He didn't end up working out but this does get me excited at the thought of what this team could be.

My comp for Scoot is an in shape Baron Davis. My comp for Miller is Kris Middleton. Give me Scoot!

  14. If we pick the right QB, Reich will get the credit. If we pick the wrong QB Tepper will get the blame. Either way I'm not going to go to bat for a billionaire. Let him get the heat. My biggest complaint is that for both our pro teams he hasn't put his money where his mouth is regarding facilities. He got a bubble and that's about it.

How do you expect us to get rid of Hayward? Lol his contract is awful and he is always hurt. Rozier is a nice player but yea at this point prob should have just traded him

Very true on how do you get rid of Hayward. Man we have made some poor decisions.

  16. I swear if fans ran the damn team we would be better off. I don't even mind the moves today and still think we are a crap franchise. I understand moving Jalen bc we weren't going to resign him. Glad we moved Plumlee bc I'm sick of watching him play. My issue is we didn't just bite the bullet and move on from Hayward and Rozier.

Knowing they didn't have a goalie really frustrated me to see so many shots not on goal. We needed to pepper him with direct shots and wait for the inevitable mistakes. I was glad for the win but wasn't happy we dominated but really had few scoring chances.

Right now we still are going for the perfect shot that makes espn. I feel like every shot is a power shot. Not much finesse with our shots on goal. Also when we have an opportunity at 2 v 1 we usually have the guy with the ball taking the shot. Need to have a setup guy. To be honest, Karol seems to be our best crosser which makes it hard since he is our supposed target guy.

I side with the common people of Rock Hill. It's a bad deal for them. That's literally all I care about. The billionaires and their bought and paid for politicians can pound sand.

So your pissed about the original deal.  The stoppage of work just gives you reason to complain about the original deal. Understood

It's weird to me watching people actively rooting for billionaires to fleece municipalities.

It'd be a much wiser move by Rock Hill to invest $21k per each impoverished resident in their city than hand Tepper $225M to help fund his headquarters.

The question isn't if i agree to the original deal bc that is a no. I don't think it was a good deal for the city but THEY made the deal. I can't believe people don't care about keeping their word and would rather side with politicians.

That would be relevant if David Tepper was a construction company. He's not.

    Here's a better analogy...

Imagine you're being made promises by politicians of all these wonderful things that they're going to do for you only to get the run around after the ballots are cast. Yeah, the average Joe gets to deal with that every election cycle. David Tepper just isn't accustomed to being treated like a commoner while trying to play himself off as having the mentality of one. Well, welcome to the club buddy! How's it feel? 😂

Yeah Tepper you suck for not understanding our politicians were going to blatantly lie and then try to turn everything around on you bc you have a low approval rating. Fact is if the city agreed to something they should stand by their word and stop being shady.

  21. Damn this thread is crazy.

    ROCK HILL DEAL

    - People Mad at Tepper: It has nothing to do with this deal. People don't like him or his decisions with the Panthers. If the Panthers ended last season winning 12 games they would be on Teppers side.

For those people that are mad. Here's an analogy for you. You hire me to build a deck. You agree. Half way through you don't give me the agreed upon money. I stop work. You ask me to finish building the deck and pay for it and you will pay me back over the course of 20 years or so. I'm pissed and don't respond. So now you and your friends bash me bc you're the asshole that didn't follow through with deal.

That is the Rock Hill summary.

  22. I am super excited for this team. A year ago I would never have been watching MLS and now I have a team to route for! Ben Bender is going to be a fantastic player for us until he gets shipped off to Europe. I am excited to see his growth. I was super impressed as a rookie he was doing corners on both sides. I have no expectations from this team this year and hell probably next year but they looked worlds better in the 2nd half than the 1st. This team will grow and when we get more speed on the wings and more consistent play in the middle we are going to be fun to watch!
