I expected him in his first NFL off-season to show up in better shape, no excuse for that not to be. Hes still got a punchers chance aka one of the freaks that looks vastly out-of-shape but doesnt play that way. But me talking him up is over and I hope he is renting for his living arrangement..

Well, I did notice you have yet to give him a nickname. I guess I should have taken that to be a bad sign. lol

Brother I seen some recent OTAs clips and my former guy Brown looked bigger than his rookie year.....the bad bigger. Im done talking him up as a sleeper RG. I want to play Corbert next to Ickey so he has a young proven vet he can grown with. That leftd RG open......and once I seen Brown, it still is.....I dont even know if he makes the team now.....

That truly is too bad. I had such high hopes for him this year. Well, damm you for this. It's all your fault. lol

No, I just think the coaching staff sucks, minus a few guys. If you're talking about the OL coach, yeah he seems to be pretty good. I like Wilks as well and I think McAdoo deserves at least an open mind. If you think Rhule is a great coach, well, that simply would not surprise me in the least.

That bolded part is what confuses me. Pretty sure I know where it came from. Just not sure why?

I guess because I am some cockeyed optimist I must be a Rhule fan? That is some whacky azz math if you ask me. Which they didn't.

He DID start at Alabama at LG in 2020, that's a big deal. I just worry about a man his size coming back from a knee injury that kept him on IR half of last season.

Oh yeah, there are concerns. But hey, it is basically all in his hands. If he puts in the work to become a NFL Lineman, the future is there in front of him.

I have been thinking of life with him, and Icky side by side. Oh Wee Mayne baby.

I think BC and Mays are back up LT and RT, respectively. LG is still very much still up in the air, with BC, Mays, Elflein. and Erving all competing. Although, IIRC, Elflein was decent at center last year but pretty dismal at LG. Also, I haven't seen enough of Brown to grade him yet.

Yuppers. Brown COULD solve that LG enigma. He is the wildcard. It would be huge if he could come in and fight for that spot. Compete well enough that even if he loses, he becomes a solid replacement.

I hated Denver growing up. Then he came to town on my sisters b-day. Came away a fan. We got 5 tickets. 4 together, 1 alone. I got the alone seat. To this day, every time I hear a Denver song. I think back to sitting alone at his concert.

Lol. I think recent history has proven I am not the one emotionally overwhelmed by a message board and a lack of team success, given your recent hiatus after successive meltdowns.

The Panthers sucking impacts me in terms of being frustrated that my season tickets are pointless to own. Other than that, if they keep sucking I will just keep watching with friends and roasting the team during the game. It's entertaining enough when the team is as bad as we have been for the past four years.

There is little to no reason to be optimistic, hence why this board has turned so negative. You act as if that is the fans fault when in reality it is the fault of the franchise.

This is what you get when you lose for this long. If you get out much, which I suspect you don't, you would rub elbows with some other suffering fanbases that are just as negative if not more than ours. Anytime you stink this bad for this long, that's the result.

Unless you want a parade in downtown CLT for winning 6 games in 2022.

tl/dr But I bet there was a lot of negative stuff in there. lol

I'm not sorry I enjoy this time of year. A time of rebirth and excitement.  Also, that my self worth isn't tied to one of my sports teams.

  8. 3 minutes ago, kungfoodude said:

Yeah well you said the same thing last offseason despite the OL signings being obviously terrible.

Your opinion is basically just full delusion. Which, don't get me wrong, is highly entertaining.

So...I'm really sorry if my being an optimist over the new year upsets you so. But I think I will just go about being excited over the coming year.

Unlike you, who is so negative, you cannot answer a post without throwing in an insult.

I'll go with the former. As I think life is so much nicer when you enjoy it.

All new starters except one means we will probably start off shaky, but I think by year end our OL will be in the top half of the league treading up with Campen developing them.  Corbet and Bozeman should be decent starters as their history shows and Icky's potential alone makes him better than any LT we played last year.

IMO, when you put a talented smart line together, as we have, they won't take long to gel. Olinemen are a special breed. When you get the right group together, they absolutely will work their butts off to get better.

We have solid coaching, with proven Vet leadership. Throw in some smart talented kids. And that is a recipe for success.

  10. If a cockeyed optimistic Homer views the team through rose colored glasses?

What color glasses do the Cult of Negativity wear? Blacked out welders glasses? Peaky Blinders?

The former see this Oline as Vastly improved. It has gone from a marked weakness, to an obvious strength.

Not sure what the later see, at all? Besides Rhule that is.

Rogers is working with a lot of new receivers. Maybe he should be there.

Robbie could be working with a new QB. Maybe he should be there.

    Fug Brady.

Fans want their players there. The player has a choice to say no.

I know youre on the warpath and all. My post was about Snow saying " You knows" during his pressers, hes worse than most players including Sam.

I was done with RR when his defenses were dogs. Snow stepped in year one with 80%  less talent across the board and had better results. Hes been the best one from Rhules Baylor/temple crew. Fastest defense in the league, within 2 years is something to hang the helmet on. Id love to see a better red zone, 3rd down and more TOs. I believe he can deliver those results with this current group.

    Oopsy on that one. lol

You might not get into so many arguments if you realized we didn’t really say two different sides of a story. We basically agreed that this off-season was better than the last two. The only real difference is that you are already giving them the benefit of the doubt that everything is going well now. I’m just not quite ready because no one was banging down doors to hire the coaches we added, Corral is still a 3rd rounder and history isn’t on his side, the Ian Thomas contract just happened and we still did trade a future day 2 pick. I’m hopeful we are trending the right way, especially since we were actually patient and seemed to have realized we aren’t a playoff contender yet.

Yes, I think this team from top to bottom, is improving.

We added well respected coaches, with a results filled resume.

Everyone knows Corall is a 3rd rounder. But, he was the best QB in the draft.

We used the 3rd to move up for the best QB in the draft.

The Thomas deal is not worth getting worked up over. To me at least. It will not stop us from doing anything.

I see hope for the future. Not sure why so many folks get so upset over this fact?

Well, TBH we really don’t know yet. I like that we appeared to not have wasted money like a drunken sailor the past two years to get us 10 wins total. Also, I don’t think they were going for winning culture. I think in 2020 and 2021 we thought we were close enough that we could use bandaid mediocre vets, guys coming off injuries and reclamation projects to keep buts in the seats. We didn’t sign Tom Brady to install a winning culture, we signed Teddy and Sam.

My biggest issue looking back a couple years, ignoring 2019, is that even last year with Fitt and Rhule and our cap specialist we still made egregious mistakes. We ended up getting way less impact from the 2021 draft because we did end up with a lot of nickels and we also almost completely ignored OL. The FA signings, extensions and trades were terrible outside of Reddick. I think he chose us knowing Snow would get him stats for his next deal.

I like what we did this draft and off-season because we took OL seriously and we were patient. You kind of have to be patient when the owner says we won’t give up next years 1st or 2nd and you traded away your 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Got a bit of luck as well with all D before our pick, but you hope we anticipated that that might happen and that there would be a bit of a glut at available QBs (with Jimmy, Foles and Mayfield not traded or signed) to make waiting on Corral a great call.

Again, I think the draft fell in our favor after we blew all those picks, but we were forced to be patient so I’m holding off on the laurels until we can do that consistently and Corral actually plays well. If Corral doesn’t then it was a bad draft even if Iky is a stud. We had pick 6, so we should get a stud, but you can’t build a team 1 impact starter per draft.

This regime has made mistakes. They all do. What I like is that these guys seem to be willing to rectify their mistakes. Or at least address them.

They did give out goofy contracts to the wrong players. Lately? Not so much

They did use future draft picks unwisely. Lately? Not so much.

They did have an inexperienced coaching staff. They improved that area.

And they have improved the FO big time.

I see a bright future for a team trending in the right direction.

I feel they are learning and improving. You seem to think they are lucky to be barely treading water. (Or at least that is how I read that.)

    Two sides to every story.

I have just seen nothing from Rhule that resembles NFL-level competence, but that's off-topic and a rigamarole that has been discussed to death. At this point the team has what they have, which in the case if the OL is actually finally NFL-caliber, and only time will tell how things shake out.

I do really hope Ickey can have a Slater\Sewell-esque rookie year. That would be amazingly refreshing to see after a decade of LT suckage.

Hope for the future. It's a heckofa drug.

Short had a couple good years (2017 was a great year and 2018 was a Probowl year) after he signed the deal. There is only one Donald but Short was still solid after the contract. It was meant to be a 2-3 year deal and he got hurt year 3. The egregious part was deciding to go on a spending spree again and restructuring Short thus making us keep him in 2020 when he should have been an auto release. We spent $13M for a hurt player when we weren’t going to compete. Big waste.

Robby never approached Short’s great seasons and has gotten paid a comparable amount and sure doesn’t appear to be a team guy. WTF were we thinking handing out $64M to Robby, Sam and Thomas when we really didn’t have to do it?

That was an inexperienced group, trying to win. They wanted to start their winning culture before they put a team together. It kinda backfired on them. They seem much more patient these days.

Look around at the brain trust right now. Do you see these guys doing that? We appear to be improving in that area. If we continue to improve. We may just have something. Even with Rhule

We seem to be in a good place right now. If things continue on this trajectory? Who knows?

I don't share your overall unbridled optimism for a few reasons, but no question that the OL (players and Campen alike) appears to have taken a massive leap forward. If things pan out to even half of the potential that exists then that will be a large boost to the foundation of the offense.

There are quite a few of us who see the direction this team seems to be headed, and are excited for the ride.

2 years ago we had maybe a handful of decent/good players. Now? There is talent all over the place.

Now granted, we are still young. And we have some growing to do. But man, if Corall works out. We can make some noise. And if he doesn't? We will be a great landing spot for the next one.

Might be asking a lot of a late round rookie to start at LG right away. I would say don't overlook some of the vets like Michael Jordan or Pat Elflein. I think those two guard spots aren't exactly locked in.

Well, they shouldn't be anyway. I definitely don't want a replay of 2021 where we see spots basically gifted to the overpaid FA scrubs we signed.

Jordan should be gone. Let's get that out of the way right off the bat. Elfien is good depth, which is fine.

As for Mays? Starting LG in the SEC, with the attitude to match. Put him and Icky together, and let them grow together for the next 2 decades.

The ONLY spot on the Oline open for competition? LG. And we have Mays, Brady, and maybe even Brown to work into that spot.

Our line is going to be much improved, an actual strength.

A little bit of tweaking, and a little bit of luck. And this roster will be solid. And YOUNG

Bozeman can play guard at a high level.  Might not be crazy to think that Bozeman is our LG and BC is our C.  Lots of options

Using the SWAG method. I foresee our starting Oline thusly.

    LT-Icky

    LG-MAYS

    C-Bozzy

    RG-Corbett

    RT-Moton

Let these guys work, and let Brady be first off the bench.
