Some ints are smarter than others.  There are strategies for a 4th down int.  If I'm qb and time is short, I'm giving up the ball at the line of scrimmage  on incomplete anyway.   If I launch deep and the cb is stupid enough to catch and not knock down the ball and we tackle him, its worse field position.  If I throw a short one, it might be better for the cb to int and try to pick 6.  Depends on the line of scrimmage, and location of the int.

I'm sorry, but there is never a good reason to Intercept a 4th down pass. You get the ball at the line of scrimmage. It is never a good idea to put your team 10, 20 or more yards past the LOS.

You cannot guarantee a Pick 6. Just knock the pass down, and get off the field. I learned that in the backyard at what, 10 years old. When a teenager comes up and knocks you on your azz for it. You learn to not do it.

Totally fine with Rodgers too. For me it’s not specifically Wilson. Just an elite qb matched with this defense I’d be willing to trade for if Sam doesn’t work out.

See, that's the thing. You keep saying "If Sam doesn't work out", "If he regresses", "If he can't do this, or that". Then say, "I''m willing to wait". You can't have it both ways.

Screw it. I'm done with this. Let's grab an aging Vet that will cripple our cap, and glut our draft picks. Cus, that's what good teams do.

    it’s those basketball player moves.

Some kids play all the sports, and get a well rounded athletic background. Some kids specialize, and don't get that extra muscle/brain training.

Give me the well rounded athlete every time.

If you haven’t seen RW will his team to the post season behind shitty oline play and suspect defenses then I don’t know what else to tell you. You do you.

Dude, Sam is putting up elite numbers right now. And you seem to be missing it because you have this odd fixation that we have to have a RW type QB, or we are doomed.

Why don't you what until this year is over before you put Sam in the ground?

Hubby is really bad about insulting people if you don't view the team through rose colored glasses like he does. One negative comment about the team and he's degrading you

Aw, look at you. Still refusing to talk football on a football forum. Buck the trends. I can dig that.

I said this fanbase sucks because people were actually saying RW wasn’t elite. It’s pretty obvious that some fans in here don’t watch other teams or players and are complete homers who don’t wanna analyze how teams are constructed. It makes for poor discussion.

I’m making casual conversation on an opinion I have. This is a message board. That’s it’s purpose. All that other stuff you posted about my health is pure projection. I’m good. This is a fun team to watch and as a whole the defense is way further along then I thought they’d be during this rebuild. I have opinions on where I’d like to see the direction of this team go because, again, this is a message board and this is part of its purpose.

It's the interwebz. Some people are a tad more harsh that others. If you believe in your stance go with it. But, you can't say "This fanbase sucks" and think you  are ok.

Yeah, we all love the Panthers. Some are just more emotional than others. Ride the wave, and have fun. Don't take this so serially.

There should be no issue, but since when does an agenda require a valid issue?  Points are points.

you and I know Sam has never been a running QB, but he is a mobile QB who appears to be taking what the defense  is giving him….and for the last four games, those defenses have given him open lanes to run in TDs.   He looks to me like he’s gliding them in, not bulldozing his way in.

I hadn't realized this until you brought it up, but most of his TDs have pretty much been of the walk-in untouched variety. The kid has impressed.

Interestingly, Carson Palmer thinks Sam is a lot like him.  Carson with a stronger arm, Sam more mobile.  Same quiet leadership, likes to be one of the guys, respectful of everyone.

The face of the franchise for the next oh, 15 years. I tell ya what. lol

I mean...We all have expectations on Sam, @iamhubby1.

    and they all Differ.

But what we don't know is what Rhule and Fitterer's expectations are for Sam.

So Sam could fulfill them but not our Expectations and they'd be satisfied enough to give him a lengthy extension.  #RealityOfTheSituation #TheyAreTheBossHere

That is the fear for most fans. The FO either seems to do too little, or they overreact to every situation.  Panther fans are conditioned to expect the worst. It will take some time to get them all on the same page.

This FO seems willing to move on from players that they aren't happy with. Not sure how Sam will have to play  to get to that level. I just don't see that happening.

There are some folks here starting to give off Cam fan vibes with Sam Darnold and it's awkward.

So, what are you proposing? Some sort of entrance exam? Or maybe a monthly performance revue? Cuz we don't need any of those types up in here now do we?

  10. 3 minutes ago, glenwo2 said:

So it sounds to me like he didn't respond to you because...like I said...he had no rebuttal.    🤷‍♂️

Anyway, why are some people here acting like they're the coach and GM all of a sudden?

Rhule and Fitterer are the ones that will make the determination of Sam's future, NOT US.

If, for example, Sam does not play up to the level certain FANS here *want* but the Coaching Staff and GM believe otherwise, GUESS WHO MAKES THE DECISION ON SAM?     EXACTLY.

And those fans can cry, whine, and b*tch about it 'till they're blue in the face....

Well, to be fair. It is kinda what fans do. Some are just more emotionally invested is all. That, and it is the interwebz. You kinda get the good, and the not so good.

I didn’t respond to him because he insulted me for no reason other than me just giving my opinion.

those 2 picks Sam threw were backbreaking. Put our struggling defense in tough spots. He struggles with processing at times. I said before I’m open minded about watching if Sam continues to grow this year and see where he’s at. But if he regressed or stays stagnant and can’t lift the team to wins like the Dallas game when other units are struggling I would look at other options. I want to win championships and I think this defense has a window. Has nothing to do with Sam personally.

First. I went back and reread every response to you. The closest I came to insulting you was after you said "This fanbase sucks". I  told you you  had gone off the rails for insulting a whole fanbase. I didn't insult you, I called you out.

Second, you can say it's not about Sam all you want. Your words tell a different story. Sam has played great. Yet, you  are worried about stagnation, and regression? Yeah, you ain't biased. Either that, or you  are a worry wart. Worrying over future events you have no control over is not good for your health.

Let go of the past. Let the future shine on your countanance.

Possible.  We'll see.  If he leads us some day to win a SB, I could see that.  He's gong to have to really hoist the team on his back on some game winning drives to displace Cam.

I believe with Fitt, Rhule, and Co. Sam is set up nicely. He may have more TEAM success than Cam. But it will be a while before we can start worrying about individual stats. But man, Sam is off to a great start.

Situation defiantly matters.   I mean, I don’t think Sam is really much different of a player today than last year.  What is dramatically different is the scenario he is in.

You put Tom Brady on the Jets right now and he would suck.  Jets might be a little better but it would knock him down several pegs.  Same dude though.

All in all, I agree with this. I would like to add though, Sam has gotten a ton of Coaching since we got ahold of him. We really don't know how much better that has made him. But it defiantly had to help him a bunch.

So, in general, he is the same QB. But ability wise, right now, he is a better QB.

I think all it takes is a trip to the Super Bowl to be in the same conversation as Cam, and simply winning the Super Bowl to surpass him. I suppose smashing his stats could also be a way of surpassing him as well, which Sam looks to be very capable of.

I  have no doubt in my mind that Sam is set up to have more TEAM success than Cam.

As for individual stats? Sam is off to a great start. So we will just have to wait and see on that front.

Cam is a pretty big task.   I mean he is the biggest superstar we have ever had.  That’s not an easy jump.

There's no doubt Sam has his work cut out for him. But man, he is playing with a much much better FO. If he can sustain the success he has already achieved. And he can hang around for enough years. Yeah, he has a chance for more team success than Cam.

Does that make him the best QB in team history?

  16. 10 minutes ago, PootieNunu said:

He is scared to death that we will be a 1 year wonder because that has been the Panthers MO. He has good reason to act in this manner because of our past transgressions, however I have hope that this staff knows how to build a team and not just catch lightning in a bottle for one season here and there.

Fear of the past can severely inhibit your forward momentum. And right now we have a lot of Huddlerz who are stuck in this mode. PTSD

The brain trust has a vision for what they want to achieve. They have a plan on how to achieve that plan. And if things change, they are able to adapt said plan. I have no fear that this team is not headed for sustained success.

Folks can nitpick this, and poo poo that. But the one thing they can't dismiss, is the fact we are trending up big time.

I disagree. Also anyone thinking we can change this oline to a top 10 talent unit in one year is mistaken. Not saying we don’t have to try to upgrade as best we can but whoever is qb is gonna have to work around whatever we got. Qbs also play a major role in how oline’s are ranked.

people are stuck on Wilson when I’m just talking about a top shelf qb in general. Wilson is just an example of a qb I’m talking about that can elevate teams, even with this oline. So yes we have to upgrade the oline but with this defense our window is about to be wide open before second contracts hit and it becomes increasingly more difficult to win championships.

Why do you believe this D has a finite window? The only way that happens is if Fiit, and Rhule start pooing the bed in the draft. If we continue to draft well. Our window may always be open.

It's not a stretch to say, at the end of his time with the Panthers,  Sam could end up being the best QB to have played for this franchise.

That's a bold statement Cotton. I hope it works for you.

That said. If it actually does come to pass. It could get REAL interesting up in here.
