He did not elevate the players around him, but they de-elevated their QB.  A QB like Bryce needs a system, a strong OL, a Running game, and WRs that can get open.  Call him a manager at best, but so is a point guard.  That is all we should need.  He is smart enough to grow into a very effective player.

I once saw a Coach talking about the OL--i forget who it was Schottenheimer comes to mind--and he said, you can succeed if you have one weak link on the OL.  If you get 2 weak links, success comes 10x harder.  If you get three weak links, your season is over.  Your QB is injured, and you are unemployed (paraphrasing).  I would say that we had 4 weak links (Icky does not get a pass) and a RB who was not good at pass blocking.

I am not saying the Bryce is the answer at QB--but I am saying we don't know yet. I know QBs (college) and when the OL sucks, they collapse mentally over time.  That is what we saw--a QB who had never played without the advantage.

    This,

Plus a bad system which the coaching staff couldn't understand.

It’s probably been said 1000 times but I’ll say it again; you really can’t grade Bryce based on last years clown show. We now have a much better o-line, much better receivers and hopefully much better coaching. Let’s see what Bryce can do THIS year and then grade him.

This, but you can see his problems from last year. This year I most definitely will be judging.

I think Panthers can save 4m if they trade him post-June 1.  That might be the play.

Given the disfunction of the panthers offense and the lack of o-line, I could imagine a team sending a 6th for an RB just 1 year removed from 1300 yards and 11 tds.  Maybe a late 6th.

    Yep

Only top 30 visit out those guys was Payton Wilson I think.

think you might have to out him as the favorite target on that list

I’d say Walker and Rice would be the 2 favorites in the 3rd round too.  Carolina could have a real Carolina draft.

Aren't Thielen and Diontae Johnson's contracts up after next season? Thielen might retire after next year and Johnson is looking for a BIG payday. If the Panthers can somewhat replace both of those guys in this WR-heavy draft, wouldn't that open up a ton of resources in 2025 to apply to other areas? I just think this should be an offensive draft. A Center, 2 WRs, and a maybe TE - though I'm fairly high on Tremble. There are a bunch of low-floor WRs even in the 3rd/4th rounds. Stout Centers and play making TEs will be available there too. This defense needed a couple of pieces after losing Luvu, Burns, and Bell. All replaced with accomplished vets. The offense needed an entire friggin overhaul. No one played well. Playcallers included.

The focus should be on offense, but if a defensive player is there, that's a game changer you take him.

Yea I over looked the list last week and had the thought "this list seems like the plan is to trade back one of the 2s...."

Still need to see how Morgan attacks the draft, cause young talent is the biggest need for this team. The track record, no matter the GM.... for rounds 2-4 is dogshit. Even finding just average players in the mid-late would be a great start....

Yeah I believe pick 39 gets traded. It depends who on the board at 33, but think someone too good to pass will be there.
