Honestly I assumed and part of me hoped Dalton would look like total asswater against Seattle. Because it would drive home the notion that our scheme and coaching are horrific and therefore absolve Bryce Young to some degree of this debacle. Andy surprised me though and in turn kicked up my concern level for our #1 pick a few more notches. I think our offense is certainly not good but I think the people saying our receiving weapons are completely awful are overstating their case to a degree to protect Bryce. There's as much of that going on as there is a certain level of overreaction to every little thing Bryce does. Both things can be true. As I said though I welcome the game where Bryce Young truly arrives. Hopefully that day comes before we've all eaten each other.

They looked better against Seattle because Reich altered the playbook per Dalton's request. Reich confirmed that in one of his press conferences. It seems a bit harsh to criticise Young for our limited playcalling in games he has started if it's by design.

  2. Looking back on it, the comments from Tepper about not needing elite receiver's are outrageous.

The way he throws the ball, the way he’s a point guard, how you can use the different players on the field, how you might not have to have as many elite receivers because he’s the point guard, right? So he distributes the ball to people with routes. So we can save some money there, we can save money in other places and put that money on the defensive side of the ball.

Young never stood a chance with these guys thinking you can give him some JAG receivers and put points on the board.

  3. The version of Lafell Cam was throwing to in his rookie year would be the best receiver on this team. It's probably a toss of a coin deciding who's the better TE option with Shockey and Hurst. The offensive line that year was ranked 9th overall by PFF.

You can't even compare what the two are working with.

  4. Has to be traded at this point. He's not worth the money he'll demand and the team needs as many picks as possible. If they could get a 1st and a mid rounder for him they should do it without a second thought.

  5. Let's not forget the first half. TMJ makes a catch on the Vikings 41, 28 seconds on the clock with two timeouts and he lets the clock run down and we get the play off with 12 seconds remaining. We come away with 3 points but there was an opportunity to be in a position to have a shot or two at the end zone. It's just really bad the whole game.

  6. I'm not convinced by Young but I'm reluctant to call him a bust with the way the playcalling has been. The question is are these calls part of the game plan or are they catered around the QBs limitations?

Every game Young has played in the announcers have constantly pointed out that they need to open up the field and go long and it never happens. Is that on Reich or on Young?

  7. A bit ridiculous to compare his first game to Cam's. Smith, LaFell, Olsen and Shockey probably get more seperation against the Atlanta D if they suited up this past Sunday, nevermind what they were doing back in 2011.

  8. Have to echo what others have said. It's a team coming off a 7-10 record which could've easily been 9-8 with how close the losses were at the falcons and giants. Granted rookie QBs struggle but not many come into a team with a solid foundation. This team should absolutely be in with a shot at making the play-offs.
