Perriman. Yes, receiver is deep but I believe there is a significant drop after Perriman.

If we sign Jennings, we're not taking a wideout the 1st. Get that through your head.
Not necessarily true. Signing Jennings would free us up to take BPA, therefore not reaching for a WR or whatever. That doesn't mean WR won't be BPA tho.
-
We will pick the best player available. (within reason) Gettleman doesn't want to reach, so if Mariota falls expect a trade. If BPA doesn't match a need or an upgrade possibility, we may trade back. Or, we may draft the Mariota type and then trade him alone or packaged. Getts won't settle. IMO

I know everyone is joking about this signing carrying us to the "Superb Owl", but it really is these types of signings that can put a team in that position. You have to truly play well in all phases of this game, negating positive returns on PR/KRs can really help win a game. STs can really turn a game. (For good or bad)

I'm not sure if I would even want Nicks. Hey! Whatever happened to that Hicks guy?
-
Well we could draft a WR in the 1st round, get a safety in the 2nd or 3rd round and a nickle back can be found in the 4-5 round. Add a solid tackle and RB and there's our roster for 2015.
Yeh, but we have no idea how the draft will go. Who will fall and who will rise. We really need some help there.
-
No, this is like saying we don't need to throw money at Tyson Alualu or Lamarr Woodley because they had as many sacks as Ealy had last year.
The amount of people on here that see a name like Johnson, Britt, Nicks or Moore and have tantrums is hilariously frustrating, and just shows how uneducated some of our fan base still is.
Let me put it to you another way. Nicks, Britt, Moore, Johnson and Shorts had fewer combined yards than Allen Hurns and Mike Evans last year. We do not need any of these average WRs who are going to cost more for the "name" and "potential upside" they carry when this WR draft class is almost as good as last years.
Our safety and CB depth and experience is far more worrying than "Wide receiver number 2".
I would have to disagree with this. Our defense was around top 5 through the last month of play. It would be great to upgrade Saftey and CB, but WR 2 is much more important. (By far) If we had a decent complement to KB, we may could have beat Seattle. It doesn't matter how much time we give Cam, if no one can get open......we won't win. We need playmakers at WR more than we need air.
-
All any of you know is his 40 time and he wasn't a starter on the Packers. Gettlemen has stated again and again that you always need to be churning up the bottom of your roster. This is how we ended up with Fozzy. You keep turning over stones with some potential instead of staying with the same old stones waiting for something to happen.
I love this about Gettlemen. This guy knows talent and if he sees something in the kid it's worth bringing him in to compete. He's a large target (which Cam loves) who runs good route. You never know.
Fully agree with this. Looks like his hands are good, fights for extra yards, gets open, and improvises well when QB has to move around. I could see him in Seattle. But I would love to replace Bersin with him. That being said, we still need an upgrade at WR.
-
Wow, can't believe anyone would see his rookie season as a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see him catch some ones he dropped. But he was a steal at 28, a straight up steal.
-
If we are going more realistic, then I would have to say Searchy or Crabtree. Crabtree wins out due to (IMO) WR being the biggest need we have.
-
Randall Cobb
Proven WR/returner
Our o-line was much better late, but it didn't matter. Also, our returning hurt us. Two upgrades. We can deal with the rest.

Got a mention over at NFL.com re Andre Johnson landing spots:
Other possibilities:
Carolina Panthers: GM Dave Gettleman is still trying to rebuild his wide receiver group after last year's purge. Johnson lining up across from Kelvin Benjamin isn't a bad thought.
Yeh, but can't believe they put ATL in front of us. Surprised they are currently considered a Super Bowl contender.
-
if collins falls to us i would be amazed, and happy af too, no doubt gettleman would take him there. Ive been hearing that people around the league fear Landon will never be able to develop any type of game deep and out in space, but in the box and intermediate he is a stud
Could Landon be eventual Davis replacement? In other words, should Landon = OLB?
-
It's all going to come down to FA and the first 24 picks anyway. If Strong and Landon Collins are both there, I would be surprised if they pass on Strong, I just believe the majority of people are set on him not being there. And for good reason.
-
Crud......stupid same last name
-
Gettleman has repeatedly said how deep this draft is at receiver. That can be translated to solid prospects being available in later rounds, may not be the case with other positions.
Yeah, it's kind of hard to believe if a guy like SS Collins falls we will pass on him. Getts really likes a value and he doesn't care at all about where other people rank a guy. If he ranks each of your first three picks as BPA in their round, he will grab them......without any hesitation. Leaving WR/DE the likely picks in the 4th and 5th rounds. He has said very plainly they are the deep classes.
-
Glad they tagged J. Thomas. I really didn't wanna see him in a Falcon jersey.
-
This would be my dream first 2 picks. I still have a really really hard time seeing Collins drop to us but I fuging hope he does so badly. Our D would easily be top 3 again with adding him in addition to our other young guys improving. Not sure I'd be that happy with O'Leary but it's the 3rd round and if that's who DG and Rivera go with then I'm all for it.
Yeah, Collins would have no problem filling in for Harper. He could play SS then come up like Harper does as like a hybrid S/LB spot. I either want him or a starting caliber DE to replace Hardy. Would love a receiver too, but I'm realistic. Probably won't be anyone there worth the pick.
-
I like Hartline too, plus he is 2 years younger than Douglas. (Still want Douglas if we can) Did Hartline return punts?
-
Ginn is a playmaker PERIOD If he can catch the ball, he is a threat to take it all the way.....if.....he can catch it.
-
Bene was one of the highest ranked corners in the entire NFL last season. Why move him to corner?
The only way I believe they would do that is if a CB fell and there was no one else to get. Then again knowing Getts, he may choose to trade back if the corner isn't a stand out guy. He won't trade a pick tho where he can get an A for two B's......I don't think that's his style. Too much unknown with the draft.
-
Did you actually read what I wrote? Being a heads-up player does not equate to being a good punt returner and running in a straight line on a freak play is not equivalent to a traditional punt return.
I think he's a good player with a ton of upside, but that specific play was a fluke.
Exactly. He has some potential, even at punt returner. But the risk is not worth the "undetermined" reward. Muffed punts are huge momentum changers.
-
Wallaces speed and abilities would help this sluggish offense much more than his bad attitude would Hurt it. Come on folks. You guys just sound like a bunch of high horse babies.
Newsflash!
Our offense sucks balls, to be blunt. Its slow, boring, and needs a lot of help.
"Nah, he has a bad attitide"
Good lord folks gice me a break. This stupid good boy attitude isnt gunna win games
I bet he could be had for relativly cheap
If we can get him at a good deal with minimal risk, then of course. I really don't like the fact he quit on his team. Do I know the whole story? No. But im also not making the decision on whether he comes here or not, so doesn't really matter. I just don't like it. It looks bad, I'm sure it wouldn't go over well with other players. He just seems like one of those "ticking time bombs" Getts talked about.
