  1. His heart is in Arkansas /Memphis.... I wish him well in the future and was sorry to hear of his mom's passing. To be quite honest, it's nobody's business why teammates/organization employees did or did not choose to attend a funeral. That is private stuff and I refuse to cast judgements about it. He should have left that alone.

Agreed. I said I thought his legacy was some what tarnished because it seemed a bit childish to bring it up. I understand why he would be upset, but no one knows why some didn't make it. Probably spending time with their families (players), dealing with draft (coaches/GM). I thought it was jacked he mentioned it.

  2. I just want to say that you just CAN NOT compare my job to Cam's. I'm a factory worker, he is a NFL QB. Me taking a lower salary to bring me in some help would just be plain stupid. I don't benefit at all from any success my employer makes, unless he decides to give me a raise. Which has little to do with the help around me. I have no Super Bowl, no Pro Bowl, no Hall of Fame, no body knows how many parts I bend outside of my job. (No stats) I said all that to say this. Cam taking less money to surround himself with weapons makes sense. I understand if he doesn't want to, not my point. Our job situations are just different, vastly. I gain zilch from giving a home town discount and asking for someone to give me better help.......that is honestly one of the craziest comparisons I have ever seen.

  3. That's different because their not other ways to make a profit from a regular job. Cam can get endorsements just like Jordan, which could be a larger profit then a NFL contract.

Also, my job doesn't hand out Super Bowl Production Rings......no Hall of Fame....Pro Bowl......they really don't reward you in any way like his job.....

  4. But that towel tho...

On a serious note, I completely agree with you. People don't realize that Newton is a tremendous talent. There are players who are excellent who have never even played in a Super Bowl/Championship Game. So much goes into building a successful team. It's not about one person. However, you can build around one person. For us, that is Cam. Cam has done well with what he was given, and all the obstacles he has dealt with. He is a beast, and I'm very glad to have him as my QB.

  5. He obviously won't play for free or vet min and there's a 99.99% chance he won't be back.

But you can't make light of it if he signed a one year deal to play for say $5MM. For an NFL player in his prime where your future isn't guaranteed, that would show A LOT of humility on Hardy's part IMO.

True. I'd also like to add it wouldn't be totally bad for Hardy to come back on a 1 year prove it deal. He won't command as high a price now as he would have after his last season, but if he comes back for a year and balls out.....it could actually help him in the long run. Here's to hoping.

  6. That's an interesting thought. Not only cap wise, upside wise, and value wise (inasmuch at it relates to relative productivity, particularly in our offense, along with the opportunity costs related to our ability to fill other holes): Nicks plus Britt is greater than Cobb.

    I'll have to consider that.

We know Getts is a huge value guy. You have to look at what each guy is worth and what they will settle for. Nicks+Britt would probably be a better deal than just Cobb.(cap-wise) But let's not forget that Cobb is younger and has return ability. At the end of the day it will depend on the value Getts places on them. Sometimes less is more. Cha-cha-cha!

  7. Gettleman LOVES value. So if he can get Hardy for a steal, I can't believe he will pass it up. That being said, it really depends on what he believes would be a steal. We may say (hypothetically) 1 to 2 years at 4 mil a year is a steal. However, with current events and other needs being......well, more needed, he may not set too high of a value on Hardy. Also, Richardson may veto anyway.

  8. That's a little ridiculous to even consider especially if he gets a not guilty verdict. An apology either way should be in order. However, giving back 12 mil? Hardy didn't ask to sit for the year, he wasn't even officially sentenced.....so.....no. Giving a discount, yes. League minimum? I don't know. Considering he made 12 mil for nothing last year, a pay cut should be an absolute. How big? That's the question.
