Our (over)confidence has no bearing on the game.  Now, if the players all thought that way, it might be different, but Rhule is a one game at a time guy, and they won't.  Best believe that our D is PROUD to be ranked #1, and they will play to keep it that way.

When almost all the huddle are in agreement, I think there is at least small cause to be cautious. lol!

How about this?  With no real QB, no #2 to take coverage, a run 1st, ball control offense, Smitty rewrote the record books.  Triple Crown winner.  Hadn't been done for 13 years when Steve did it.  Far as I know, hasn't happened since.

Have we mentioned the rules changes?  You know they used to just knock the poo out of a WR in the air?

This bugs me to no end. When people talk about who was the greatest this and that, they never try to factor in situations around them. You will never convince me that Steve Smith's numbers would not have been considered GOAT if he played with Montana and Young almost his entire career. It just freakin wont happen. Pundits will say, "You can "if" all you want to.". It's not about making excuses. If you believe that factor doesn't matter you either know nothing about football or you are lying. They could at least have a conversation about it.....but they wont.

I agree with you, but I'm not ready to say ''contenders'' just yet, the Dallas game should be a good measuring stick.

Saints put up TD's on short fields versus GB but not yards. I will say I was surprised to see how well we got after Jameis, but being able to play man and pressure is a far cry from the soft zone, and 7 to 10 yard cushions we lived in for a decade under Rivera.

I'm saying if we clean up our play we are contenders. I have no problem saying that. NFC West is tough, but this defense is unmatched if it keeps up the same production. We have left a lot of points on the field. If we can start executing better it is playoff time. But I do agree. The Cowboys have a very nice passing attack. I am ready and hopeful for that game. If we shut their offense down, we are a playoff team with no question in my opinion.

Damn I don’t want to predict. I know one thing I don’t like how no one is giving Houston a chance. I hope our team ain’t thinking this way to, could be a classic trap game. I know everyone wants to say Mills is a rookie but we literally have no tape on the guy. It’s hard to game plan for that, hopefully it doesn’t backfire on us.

I saw that clip from the "Behind the Scenes" video where we got a sack and one of our coaches was yelling at the team to stop celebrating because the game wasn't over. Said, "We need to go out there and do it again!"

I don't think we have to worry about that. Granted, I agree with you 100%.

With no tape on him, imagine if we could have actually game-planned a bit and if the offense hadn't stalled out to make it a closer game than what it was.

I said in another thread that if we played them week 3 we would win 40-0. We left so many opportunities on the field. 3 would be touchdowns at least. Should have been 30-0 at the half.

Same for Saints. If Darnold doesn't throw that pick we shut them out, I have no doubt in that.

Not living in the past, I'm just saying we are gonna be a problem if we clean those issues up. Like "we will be contenders" problem.

  6. Quote

Week 3 at Houston Texans - Win (3-0). This should not be close if Watson isn't playing. Their team is a mess. If we trotted out our team of TEs against their team of RBs it might would be interesting. They don't have the firepower or the defense to hang.

    W 35-10

Gonna stick with my prediction from the win projection thread before the season. Losing Taylor is a massive blow. Designed runs have not faired well against our defense (ask Kamara). Taylor's scrambling could have made this a game. (Taylor accounts for 55 of the 242 yards gained by Houston on the ground).

Brandin Cooks needs to have a huge game to make this interesting. If he doesn't get at least 60 yards, that means we won by 21 points minimum. I see CMC getting over 100 rushing yards and over 200 from scrimmage. Texan's run defense has allowed an average of over 4.5 yards a carry. Cooks is held to under 60 yards. Defense gets 5 sacks.

*Side prediction: We win by more than 3 TDs and still go no higher than 15 on most power rankings. (No, I don't care....I'm just saying)

  7. I believe this year's defense will be the most consistent group from year to year. Most of that falls on the coach and GM. We were amazing in 2015, but that extraordinarily high production wasn't to that level before and after. I think we find out what it is like to ball year in and year out.

Sometimes the Hero Ball comes out of Sam....and he needs to learn that throwing the ball away and trying again in the Next down is wiser than rolling the dice....

Yeah, he has to learn to understand the situation. That pick to the DL was horrible for several reasons. It's 17-0 bro, their offense is incapable of moving the chains against us....take the sack there. Overall, I think he did great.

Did you even read through the thread before you provided your inevitable shít take on things?

0% in this thread cheered this injury. Most said you play who you play. You are a complete dweeb and should prolly stick to the SaintsReport with Alice and the other swamp rats.

To be fair, if anyone has cheered for an injury it has been for one of our own. lol!

Media rankings can kiss my ass.

Get the "W" however you can get it, is what i say.

Oh I agree. I'm just saying, you can't expect them to rank us in the top 15 if we can't easily defeat a team who has lost their starting QB in exchange for a rookie in his first start, down two WR, and down arguably their best defender. If we can't put them away then I don't think we deserved to be ranked high.
