Offensive weapons…I mean Hurst is ok but he doesn’t change that or even close. This franchise will doom our new QB if they don’t get him a WR. It’s going to be bad, really bad.

That’s said it’s really the only major need with oline depth and LB next. I wouldn’t be mad if Fit moved up back into the first for someone. Even then we need vets.

Yeah, I don’t think we are done with FA or trading. I’m just saying it is shaping up nicely for us. It’s heading in that direction and it’s not far away.

  2. It really all depends on what we are able to bring in during free agency. If we go heavy on the defense, we should draft QB, WR, TE, and RB.

We should NOT trade any more assets unless it’s a smart move cap-wise. We are set up big time for next year. We are about to open a nice 5 year window.

Hardman, WR-DRAFT PICK, Marshall, Shi, and Shenault should suffice. Lean on the run game early.  Add a TE through free agency or draft to pair with Tremble.

  3. In my honest opinion, Wilks was out when he lost to Tampa. Hear me out:

The whole thing with Wilks was that the team was playing for him and the community was behind him. And then, as a defensive minded coach, he loses because of three huge DEFENSIVE breakdowns. To a team that was lucky to score. The Bucs were not a good team and a playoff spot was on the line, and we lost to an inferior team. Again, with a defensive choke. That’s just how I see it.

  4. Wilks earned the right to seriously be considered.

He took over a train wreck. The game against the Bucs, three plays destroyed us. In all three plays, Evans got behind our secondary without so much as a head fake. If Horn didn’t get hurt, Wilks would have been a lock for this job.

Either way, I just want to do our due diligence and hire the one most qualified.

  5. I really hate to lay this on one part of the team. But we need better corners. Yes, the pass rush wasn’t good today. But Mike Evans didn’t fake anyone out. They just let him stroll right by them. I felt good about Darnold and okay about Wilks. If not for the terrible plays by our corners, we would have destroyed them and Wilks’s plan would have been fine. If Horn played we would have won. I put it all on those three plays. Terrible coverage.

Sometimes, teams cater too much to their superstar players and forget that it really does take a team to win. Seems like the Panthers fell into that pattern. Trading CMC is going to be a blessing in that they now have to have a fully developed offense. And teams can't just camp on the star anymore.

I have no illusions that the Panthers are a playoff team, but I think it proves good QB play is more beneficial than any other position on the field. Not RB nor WR, good QB play.

Will be happy if CMC is successful in San Fran, but I think we'll see addition by subtraction here.

I’m not disagreeing with you at all. I just feel like it’s our fault we were not capable of balancing the offense and I don’t think we are a more talented team without him. Granted, we may play better AS a team. But it’s sad he had to leave in order for us to succeed. QB play is far more important than any other position, but we didn’t have to get rid of CMC to have good QB play, and if we did, then our coaching staff is to blame. Regardless of the reason, he is gone and we are one game away from potentially leading the division. Hope PJ continues to play well.
